This new wild mouse would be a great opportunity for highly themed compact coaster along the lines of raging spirits at disney but actually being a good coaster at the same thing

Maybe mine cart style in western area at movieworld

I think another wild mouse style coaster would be pretty pointless... given you have Scooby Doo. I'd rather see something different. After Flash and WOO I'd like to see Movie World stay away from coasters for a bit and get some filler rides in like some flat rides to round out the park. Something reliable at least, cause the park only has 1 flat ride (Batwing). And I'm not counting doomsday, because that requires it to actually be operational.

  2. Interesting that they have gone for the 64 seater model, also love the idea of all the fountains around the ride. The next few years are honestly going to be some of the most important years for Dreamworld. Starting with Sky Voyager really it has been a tremendous change (for the better), even with still heaps to go. I think honestly once Rivertown opens and everything is done Dreamworld will be the best it has been really since the early 2000's.

You've clearly not been a parent with a child under 6. Every time we went near Sam Train, there was at least two cycles wait.

It also doesn't help that it's a pain to operate, and the ropes that are used are so fiddly that it greatly increases the load / unload time of the ride haha. Was prob my least favourite kids ride to operate in the park. Tweety and Pounce and Bounce were the 2 best IMO

No.  Not at all.  We still waited the full amount but just not all of us at once.. People duck out to get water and come back. Saw a few people just take a seat out side the queue then come back in to their mates at the end. all the time it’s just that same thing.. our group still waited the full queue.. I probably just didn’t explain it well.

the lines died down at 20 pm. GL was about 20 min and DCR 60 min.  Dooms days opened at lunch time and was still only going half way up.

That is 100% queue jumping. You’re making the line longer than it is for people behind you and breaking park rules at the same time.

I stand by my comment, and I would have happily yeeted your whole group to the back of the line.

Really clutching at straws there with the “first ride within a ride in the southern hemisphere” remark…

They’re not wrong, but really? 😅

That made me cringe more than it should have... also, APRIL next year?! Talk about missing the mark, I'd have wanted to get it up and running ASAP especially given the movie release.

I mean that ride was old when DW bought it. I doubt there's much that original but I seem to recall it was the better part of 20 years old when DW opened.

Also loved that ride as a kid, one of my favs for a long time growing up just re-rideable and joyous. I vividly remember going overseas as a kid to a park with a proper wave swinge,r and thinking how much better Zoomer was. Wave swinger was much more impressive and bigger, but somehow to my 7 year old mind, no where near as fun. I haven't been on it for a long time because you know, adult, but my last ride as an adult it surprised me by how fun it still was. Seriously rate it and lots of nostalgia for it.

Having said all that, there's not a single part of me that thinks they're doing the wrong here getting rid of it for a proper wave swinger. My brief for the wave swinger at the front was 'Must be charming'. Early signs are management are of that opinion too. Fair play, fairwell Zoomer.

I loved it when it was in front of the Thunderbolt, complete with the carnie fencing haha. And the operators constantly telling you to "lift up your feet" as you came in for landing. Honestly... that ride and the Stingray when it was next to the Wipeout really holds a special place in my heart for memories of Dreamworld. Although, I'd say it still honestly has some life in it, it's a very simple ride design and there's still another version of it travelling in Australia fairly sure.

Just one correction here - Much as i'm not a fan of the page, in most cases, he just reposts what is sent to him, and truly believes it. Over the years a lot of folk have created fakes and fed it to the page, and a lot of it has gotten through because he believes it.

One of my favourite past times when I worked at MW... trolling the people that ran all those FB pages and then watching it show up on forums like Parks or even Facebook a few days later as "Reliable sources" when it was some of the most outlandish BS myself and the rest of the staff could think of lol.

  9. I miss the Superman uniforms, they were honestly very comfortable. Never knew Scooby to have its own uniform though. It was always the "Day uniform". Every ride had its own uniform back then, except for Scooby and WBK / Dodgems.

If you had to be moved to a ride that had a costume, and you were in another uniform or the day uniform you could only work in positions back of house (such as high zone or lift on Scooby) or to be an observer for a guest with disabilities. Otherwise you had to go to wardrobe and get a change of shirt. The Wild West Falls uniform shirts were so nice and cool, perfect for the summer months. The Batwing one was by far the worst though, all black in summer... NOPE.

Real shame they are getting rid of them though :(

You think that’s bad? You should’ve seen how horrible LPM’s operations were on Saturday. Some rides like the Pharaoh's Curse had 10-minute dispatches and the staff didn’t seem to care. Another rule they made was the “weight balance” so many seats weren’t even used on the rides.

On the Scenic Railway they were also horrible. First up, it was only running 1 train, slowing down the ops. The same person who did the loading also did the grouping, at least they got you grouped before the ride came to the station. Dispatches were also 5-6 minutes, making around 1 cycle every 10 minutes. I reckon the ride was actually only running at around 120 pph. One of the people I was with thought the operations there were some of they worst they saw.

Scenic Railway will only ever run 1 train, it hasn't ran with more than one in many many years due to the fact that it's all manually operated. Most rides do need to be weight balanced though, so that's also not out of the ordinary.

With only 2 Suspended Twin Hammers in the world, I suspect Intamin wouldn't have a lot of spare parts sitting around.

One now... the one in Malaysia closed down and this is a 2nd gen version of it as well. So really it's the only one.

"Intamin's Tourbillon problems are well known.  " - Sorry wouldn't let me quote in an edit.

Those rides were actually built by ABC Fun Rides but sold by Intamin. Similar to how in Europe, Vekoma sells RMC products but they are still built by RMC

Ah alright. Must of gotten confused.

At least even with 1 train the coaster still has high capacity than most other coasters with 1 train ops.

    • Spongebob's Boating School Blast - 360 pph
    • Motocoaster - 373 pph
    • Jet Rescue - 400 pph
    • Gold Coaster - 400 pph
    • Superman - 410 pph
    • Steel Taipan - 415 pph
    • Surfrider - 460 pph
    • DC Rivals - 465 pph
    • Road Runner - 500 pph
    • Project Zero - 600 pph
    • Family Boomerang (both) - 625 pph
    • Kenny's Forest Flier - 650 pph
    • TNT/MW SFC - 720 pph

I can tell you right now all of those numbers for 1 train operation are far higher than what they would achieve.

Superman would average 12 dispatches a hour (6 every 30 mins) which if all seats were filled would be 240 riders a hour

Rivals would probably be pretty similar too. Road Runner would have done a dispatch with the old trains approx every 3 mins. So around 320 a hour with 1 train. This is from personal experience as an operator as a FYI. However with procedures that have changed it is possible that it's even less now... doubt it's got faster since I was there lol. Back then operations were actually halfway decent (for village), and staff actually gave a crap. Quite a few of them were actually on these forums back in the heyday and we may or may not have used to have friendly competitions :P

I'd say if this ride doesn't have seatbelts and is just a standard restraint you'd be looking at dispatches similar to Road Runner and be getting mid to high 300's per hour due to the longer train. You could maybe push 400 a hour if you had 2 loaders + the controller running things. Just really depends how they chose to operate it, so many things when I was there just... made me question "why" haha. Simple things like opening the damn gates as people are getting off the train to make things quicker.

One day things may change haha

I've had a conversation with an operator about a height issue and they told me - wristband or not - if theres a doubt, the guest goes back to guest services to get it worked out. Apparently there have been incidents where wristbands get swapped, and I believe that as the last time we got a band, GS actually wrote down name, DOB, and what he was wearing.

I mean, sure ops should be able to rely on bands being accurate, but if something doesn't seem to add up, they should still be able to redirect rather than have an argument (or an unsafe dispatch) right there on the platform.

Well yes, if I still don’t buy the wristband I would send them back to GS. Then the supervisor would normally call the entry host to advise on the outcome (approved or declined to ride).

Generally guests were pretty good and understanding that it was for safety…buuuuut sometimes, well yeah lol

I definitely don’t think they should have the pre-show (if there is one) for the ride in the station especially since the ride is only able to run one train, and during busy periods they’re going to have to pump the train out as fast as possible.

What if it took place just before you enter the station? while the train is being loaded, the next group is let into a room 2 behind each door (acting as air gates), pre show takes place as the ride is going then once the train is emptied, the doors open and you board the train. I think a set up like this or just a pre show somewhere else in the queue would work a lot better then a station pre show.

Maybe as your walking up the stairs in a similar fashion to Leviathan... they could have the scenes playing on the screens with the winkies chasing Dorothy etc around the castle... Then maybe as the train is loading play the scene where they are about to melt the witch... and as the train departs have the water "splash" on the witch... causing her to melt?
