  1. just adding quickly - was at mw today - two trains on superman, 5-10 minute wait! was awesome!!! no flood scene however :(
I went a few weeks ago, just after school went back and the queue was fairly short (20 - 30 minutes) but they only had 1 train running. IMO they should run 2 trains to move the queue along rather than thinking 'well it's not school holidays so we only need 1 operating'..... At least all the effects were working the way they should again. :)
  2. It's great for the animals & theming. I was there while EE was just a steel shell and still had a really good day...
EE was definitely one of the highlights for me, but the animals were great too... I wonder how often glitches happen on a ride like that? Pretty lucky to catch it on a POV... :)
  3. Also if you go to a Disney park, if a special effect that is required for the ride to function is broken, they FIX IT, not run the ride anyway. If we have to destroy the ride to have it open, don't open it until it's fixed. Guests should never get to experience "backstage the ride" in my opinion.
On that note, take a look at this POV on Expedition Everest where the windows menu pops up during the bit where the yeti pulls the track apart. DISNEY FAIL! :P
  4. I was just going through Timmc's youtube page which then just gave me the idea for either dw or mw: DW-just to keep in tune with their recent theming of things that go "VROOOOMMMMMM!":) and to go with channel 9's recent marketing of "Top Gear" they should make a car coaster but theme it like that, like: your in a car with one of the guys and the stig has done a lap or 2 around this track whitch you must then beat, and so on.
I guess it would be something like the Back Lot Stunt Coaster... That sounds pretty cool. :)
  5. When you look at the chart, particularly the first half you can see moments where +/-1g is sustained for a couple of seconds. It is a bit risky to assume that the actual G's would reach 2 or more because if the device gets bumped then that can easily create an impulse that causes the graph to spike....Notice how at these points it only occurs for a split second, which doesn't reflect the time it would take to negotiate a turn.
I agree with what you are saying, but I was holding that phone pretty still... But yes the peaks don't look right do they.... Taking away the peaks, the results are in the +/-1 Lateral G force (which seems about right).
  6. The first day that I went to ride Jet Rescue, they were having issues with it getting stuck in the second launch tunnel.
Funny that, I saw it broken the very first day I rode too. I'd say it was probably around last April? But I want on the Jet Rescue first thing in the day and then at about 10:30 it just stopped in the tunnel. From what I recall I think they had it back up and running within an hour...
  7. Dont most smartphones have accelerometers built in? I know I had an app on my htc magic at one stage that recorded it. I assume the iphone would have one too. Why not just check it on the ride?
Now that's a good idea! Will do next time I visit...
  8. i have to disagree with u on this one, i do like halo 3,dont get me wrong, and the multiplayer is fun, except what has always annoyed since its came out, is the leveling system of it. im talking social games when you receive 1 experience point for a winning game, when someone on the team might not do anything they still get experience, yet, the losing team might have 1 player who gets up to 25 kills for example and doesnt get any experience for it. Considering most online games for halo are around 10 minutes long, if ur playin with idiots, you cant do much about it, u quit u lose experience. its too heavily relied on teamwork, and when most of the time therse days, i cant find any1 on their with a headset! You compare this leveling system to COD, even if you are on a losing team, u can still try get kills and earn experience, its not a waste of time, like if u were losing 30-5 on team slayer on halo!
Thats why you play Halo with friends who are actually good! Or just play FFA..... :)
  9. You may also notice when in the disco room for scooby, sometimes when you go through the wild mouse curves, you get slowed down before you enter the next curve. This is because of weight in the car making it go faster than the cars in front of it, and the computer slows the car to prevent an unsafe distance. If you've ever played corners on a bus or in a car - get 3 "reasonably heavy" friends and try it on scooby - you'll need the first ride of the day, and watch it FLY through the corners.
I always thought it slowed you so that you didn't pull too many lateral G's in the corners.... But that makes sense too... Well there you go.. :)
  10. I agree that multiplayer is not so good right now, but Special Ops alone makes up for it. You can do a spec ops mission alone and then do it with a friend and have two completely different experiences... I think it has huge playability and the Campaign is also awesome (but far too easy even on Veteran). But I still think Halo 3 is better for online multi-player.... :P

  11. Pretty sure these coasters don't have any bird protection systems:
Damn! The people in the front row would have seen it all happen too... On a similar topic, I once saw the Claw at Dreamworld hit a bird. I'm not sure if anyone got hurt but the bird was no more....
  12. LOL sorry :P I was thinking that the sensor was there to detect rollbacks, but also give clearance to the 2nd train to begin the pre-show, and then when the 1st train entered the loading bay, the 2nd train could launch. Does that sound right? I was at MW 2 days ago, 2 of the 4 times I went on SE we got stuck on the corner just before you proceed onto the launch pad, and I read somewhere that meant the next block section was not cleared. (unloading bay)
That's right, because if the first train is being unloaded and the second train launches, they are on a collision course... The first train must enter the load station before the second one can launch...
  13. I would be more inclined to think that the system measures how much force is required to propel the train over the top hat, and then adds a little more to allow for wind, which is why some launches feel different to others.
That sounds about right, but wouldn't it make more sense to put a wind gauge at the top of the top hat, rather than on the ground somewhere?
  14. The ride systems themselves would want to know about a rollback too though.
I reckon there would be sensors on the launch track somewhere to do that. Maybe just after the brakes finish? A sensor on the very top wouldn't be able to identify a rollback, because it would sense the train going over the top and either continue over, or go back the way it came. Unless there are two separate sensors beside each other it wouldn't know the difference. Edit: I take that back, there are two sensors so it would make complete sense..... Don't mind me! :S
  15. I had always assumed they were there to determine whether the train had cleared the top hat, but what Tim is saying is pretty plausible too.
post-2853-1263295767_thumb.jpg This camera is pointing at the top hat, so the ride operator can see if the train clears it. Thats why I'd say the sensor is there for wind speed.
