we all have different views on topics and in my opinion; besides the amount of tickets sold, the event was well planned out and had a lot of stuff to do other then the rides and normal day to day operation attractions

A well planned event generally doesn't have heaps of complaints all over social media. A well run event would be full of praise. This event was not full of praise. You have an opinion but are wrong here regardless of your view.

Ok. Let me spell it out for ya.

You've got a rep count of 48, and have 206 posts. Slick has a rep count of 2199 and 2881 posts.

Slick is also a community leader here on the forums. It's kinda his job here to ensure a certain... standard. *Ahem*

While i'm not suggesting you take everything a community leader says as gospel (they're not always right, and they aren't infallible), they usually make their best efforts to not spout unfounded rumor without having seen some sort of evidence of it (and each active community leader has their own background or expertise related to the industry in some way - (want to know? ask them privately and see if they answer).

There are just some things you gotta take on faith. And that's where rep and post count comes in. Now i'm not suggesting for a moment that a high rep or post count means they're an expert, or always right (it can just mean they talk alot, which is why I'm at the top of both counts here on Parkz - toot!), but for someone to have amassed a 4 digit positive rep count, and a 4 digit post count (sorry Jdude!) generally suggests they've survived long enough on these boards to have the basics right. Seriously - if someone comes on spouting bullshit, they generally don't survive long.

But sometimes, those who know, can't say, and those who can say, don't know. So many times when information sources can't be revealed for one reason or another, sometimes its hinted at, or suggested, and sometimes you just have to pay attention to what gets said - a couple throwaway lines here and there can add up to a fact you can bank on, without ever having had to say it out loud.

TL:DR - if none of the longer term or experienced members of the forum are questioning something.... you just gotta ask yourself why that might be... and sometimes you just gotta trust it.

Look man, Ive been here since 2009. I have worked in the theme park industry for years here and over seas. A rep count and post count means someone spends a lot of time on the internet. I just want a source. Having worked for Ardent for many years its the first I ever heard the river was "protected" area. I just want to see a source. I am not doubting someones knowledge but I want to see some proof and the point of a forum is to chat about stuff. Your rep count means nothing to me sorry and for someone who seem to be such a regular on a forum you seem to have no idea how they work. If you dont have an answer to my question dont waste my time trying to put me down and act like some online forum legend no ones ever heard of.

  3. Some non ride advice I can offer is to be aware of your belongings. The park has a high rate of theft and does have some issues with teens that hang out there. They have their own police station believe it or not. Its not unsafe but just be sure to be aware of your self and belongings a bit more than you might be used to in Aussie parks.

Also it can get cool there even on a hot day. I left LA on a hot sunny day and got there and froze my butt off and had to buy a jumper in the park.

You can street view walk the whole park on google as well https://www.google.com.au/maps/place/Six+Flags+Magic+Mountain/@34.4235468,-118.5960072,1667m/data=!3m1!1e3!4m5!3m4!1s0x80c280a5bffa65c5:0x8f03c1443c734740!8m2!3d34.4253305!4d-118.5972191

Thanks for the great report as always Gazza! Seeing pictures like this one makes me feel grateful for what we have here in Australia.

At least we have to maintain our older gems such as the one's at the Luna Parks if our Parks wish to keep them operational. This err 'Monorail' looks like an accident waiting to happen.926f37b86b55bbc2f5c19ba4bbaf55da.thumb.jpg.9a1daf1468eb6f791976fb2deaa1d421.jpg

The place is rundown but its still better than any park we have here in Australia. The park closes for a good chunk of the year due to the heavy snowfall Montreal gets. If they spent a bit more on cleaning it up it would be fine. Its a good size park with 40 odd attractions. Gardens and those little things just arent something they worry so much about for a park that sits closed under snow so many months of the year

Agreed. Just saying I hope Dreamworld doesn't close. It would be a massive loss to Queensland  (and Australian) tourism, and I think it would be highly unlikely that a theme park of that size would ever be seen again in Australia.

Also it would give VRTP a monopoly which would enable them to vastly increase their prices, whilst possibility lowering their investments since there'd be nothing to compete against.

The lack of competition would be the biggest worry. Village would have no reason to invest in new attractions and as you said can charge what they like. Also besides what other people have stated here, Dreamworld make alot of money from overseas. They have a whole division that work just with the Asian market to bring in tour groups and market to Asia in general. Dreamworld do alot of tour groups from China and its a big part of the business.

In a couple of weeks the only coaster running will be MDMC.

    Happy days DW.

I didn't know if I should attach a laughing or crying emoji.

Come to think of it I would rather give Ardent the bird.🖕

the best thing is their reply this week on trip advisor to someone complaining nothings open.

Hi - Thank you for the feedback. We understand your frustration, unfortunately planned maintenance usually takes some time to complete. This maintenance is vital to keep rides safe and operational. Your comments have been passed onto management.

Read this bit through your mind again.. "This maintenance is vital to keep rides safe and operational."

That's the problem, half the rides aren't operational........ Its school holidays and nothings open!!!!

  7. wow an events space. Brilliant. Cant wait never have a reason to go their unless my company books a function there. They arent even trying with that post. Best to have just said Brock was finishing up and at least lead people on about what it might become. Now we know its an empty room that converts for events. haha Take away tower or terror for a sexy new events space. Take away wipeout for a crazy new events space. Make the lego store a day care. Seriously though, whats next? Make the cinema a low cost half arsed version of Disneys Soar'n...

    Oh wait ;)..
