  1. I haven't been to WC before, but was just wondering what the ride queues are like. Because the event is only 3 hours I'd imagine if people were to do rides you would only be able to do a couple and then watch the main parade at the end of the night. What else is there to do at it?

Don't forget to see the lighting of the lights. Hears a video I filmed at last years event:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AMc5pXDXHaE

I also checked out the carols and saw the parade (get to the parade early for a good spot). I only rode Superman Escape twice at the end of the night (it's awesome at night!). Tip: Go to the park during the day to see the Christmas film at the Roxy and ride Scooby Doo as there is a very limited time during the night.

  2. bovid?

I think it's pretty crummy not running the ride without at least 10 people. You've paid your money to enter and you want to ride... cost cutting crap.

And don't anyone suggest it's a weight thing - because you could have ten 12 year olds thin as rakes....

    ....wait... bovid = bothered?

Yes bothered - I fixed my spelling error. When I went back to Cyclone there was no one in the line so as I was leaving a few more people came so I went back (total of 4 people) - no idea why they needed at least 10, possibly a weight problem (sorry), same as why some of the slides at WWW require at least 2 people.

  3. I was down at Dreamworld today and the Log Ride closed at 5pm, with the Rapid Ride still closing at 4. I'm not sure but the Giant Drop may have also traded till 5. I spoke to a staff member on the Log Ride wondering why it was still open and she said it closed at 5 and is against Dreamworld closing rides early - all rides should open 10-5. No changes to the website so maybe I was lucky. I spent most of the afternoon at WWW and got in to DW at about 5min to 4 and raced to the Rapid Ride and got 1 ride. We posed for a photo but by the time we got to the shop guess what - it was closed!

In other news Cyclone is back from maintenance but when I went to ride it - it broke, and needed slight repairs and a test run. When I went back later it was fixed but there wasn't enough people to ride it (need 10 minimal). I had an overshoot on the Tower of Terror for the first time - that was fun :)

Rode Vintage Cars on Saturday - closed on weekdays (herd other guests wanted to ride them but Dreamwold cannot be bothered opening them on a week day. Still a good ride but needs theming.

  4. Buzzsaw is a short and rough coaster that makes you think you'll fall out. It is understaffed with 1 operator having to close off 2 seats. The main ride structure doesn't fit into the area. Motorcoaster is an awful out of place ride that completely destroyed the Rivertown area. There is room for a flat ride where the Singray used to be. In the area that they didn't repaint the path. But don't give them ideas...

Also "Mine For Sale', tracks a bit unsafe...

If you thought the Buzzsaw had some scary machinery think again...

  5. I was back at Dreamworld today. There is still a random dinosaur on the rapid ride, there was not a mushroom (or crazy mushroom guy) on the Log Ride or in Main Street. The Mine Ride is full of junk. You can no longer get bubble-gum Fanta with the change from Coke to Pepsi (they mostly just have Cola / Raspberry). The staff member at the shop said she misses the bubblegum flavour too. Triple Vortex only allowed 1 person per 2 person raft for some reason. Vintage Cars were open despite apparently being closed by the sign at the front but lacks the theming they once had. There is no barn as seen on the Dreamworld website (old image from the better vintage cars). The river looked pretty clean with lot of turtles and some eels swimming in there. Tail Spin is not a thrill ride (I couldn't get it to spin). WipeOut is awesome now (I got soaked). Central Café is getting a makeover. Buzzsaw is a terrible ride. It looks like they gave up painting Ocean Parade after the Wipeout. There is room for another "flat ride" which will probably be a new ride for 2015 - knowing Dreamworld and there love for flat rides and not adding good rides like a decent rollercoaster or replacing the Mine Ride.

  6. I noticed the ride opening times have changed. These hours are only on weekdays. On weekends and school holidays all rides are open 10am to 5pm (except for Vintage Cars see below). Any rides not listed operate 10 - 5.

    Big Red Boat - 10am - 3.30pm

    Big Red Car - 10am - 3.30pm

    Cyclone - 11am - 5pm

    Giant Drop - 11am - 4pm

    Log Ride - 11am - 4pm

    Motocoaster - 11.30am - 5pm

    Shockwave - 11am - 5pm

    Tea Cups - 10am - 3.30pm

    The Fun Spot (Wiggles World) - 10am - 3.30pm

    Thunder River Rapids - 12pm - 4pm

Vintage Cars - CLOSED Weekdays (11am-4pm weekends)

    Wipeout - 11am - 5pm

I really don't like the hours for the Thunder River Rapids. You would think that one of the most popular rides would be open all day. Kids rides seem to be open all day. The only thrill ride that closes early is Giant Drop. They obviously don't care about Vintage Cars, with the amount of time they are closed they should just get rid of them, it's not like anyone will notice... (I actually like Vintage Cars but they were destroyed when they got relocated - I miss them in Rivertown, now "Rivertown" is so ugly...)

  7. Thanks for the update. I messaged Sea World and linked them to this forum. Hopefully they read it and realise how stupid that gate is. I mean they don't seem to be caring about elderly/ disabled guests, Sea World is a great park for them to check out some amazing animals and shows. It's a pity the pathway gets blocked. Everyone gets trapped and confused. When I see the Storm Coaster I walk towards it like everyone else only to get trapped by this annoying gate. It used to be ok I could just climb over it but then they put wires on the top and last time I tried to climb over it caused mild injury. You can't sue them since they have "No Entry Please" signs on it but why is it "No Entry?", its public space on the other side?

  8. Thanks for the photos.

I wonder how long Eureka Mine Ride will stay there?

Until it falls down. Unfortunately the Thunder River Rapids are below so it's not going to be good for Dreamworld if that happens. They better do something soon.

It's been 7 years, 10 months, 20 days since the Mine Ride closed and still no replacement!

  9. ^I agree. I was at Movie World on school holidays last year and the lines were too long on every ride (even Justice League). I normally visit on off peak week days. Short lines make it a much more enjoyable day (except Dreamworld annoy me by opening some rides late, closing rides early, or not opening some at all)
