  1. but Warner Bros. (who no longer even own the park) had the rights for the character in the movie.

AFAIK Warner Bros. was simply the distributor, Village Roadshow and Silver Pictures were the 2 producers, which in normal circumstances mean they both have rights to the movie. The actual character and name is owned by a "Conan Doyle Estate Ltd." which is literally just the name for the original author's estate and those who manage it, and it's still questionable if they own the character and name, and not just the least old book "The Casebook of Sherlock Holmes" released in 1923, all the other books are public domain.
  2. Just a refurb I think you'll find. Better that they keep the ride running without the canopy rather than close it for the duration.

I'm not sure what you mean, the ride was closed about a week ago for the day, the next time I saw it part of the batman theming was gone, is there any reason for them to close it just so they can take that part off?
  3. If removing HWSD is correct and replacing with a Batman show it adds fuel to the idea previously mentioned in the forums of turning MW into a new park completely DC themed.

That would annoy me to no end. Right when they're about to release The Hobbit, too. I can't begin to express how much I want some Sherlock Holmes representation at MW.
  4. Drove past ME yesterday and the Batman logo/signage has disappeared from the top of Space Shot. Anyone have any ideas why? surely not a re-theme?? Though given Batman has nothing to do with Space if probably could be better themed/named

I'd guess they're just re-theming it to Justice League. The Wayne Manor theme out the front of the Batman Building is completely gone now. imag0122xl.jpg
  5. I think its great Wet n Wild is getting something new but i cant quite figure out what good a constrictor will do....

Shorter lines on the good rides. I have to agree though, seems kind of lame when you look at what they've got planned for the other 2 Warner parks, a BM replacement and an Australia-first Astro Blaster (do these have an official name?) ride. Would have had more impact if they'd released a constrictor instead of the aqualoop and announced the aqualoop now.
  6. Why judge a ride based around its popularity in winter :S And the boats in Mammoth falls can take 6 people, versus 2 on Black hole. Thats why it never gets a queue.

I'm specifically referring to the cost of running it in winter. Last visit 2 weeks ago on our way up we didn't see rafts with any more than 3 people on it.
  7. Mammoth falls now has probably the highest capacity of any ride on the Gold Coast. In the summer it's queue still can reach the bottom of the stairs. The double open slides in summer are still popular, and as much as a dark Mammoth would be awesome, I just don't think it's worth the hassle.

I understand that its popular in the summer, but in the winter when waits for the black hole can still reach 5 minutes with 10 people ahead of you we've never even had the chance to go on the mammoth falls with more than 3 people ahead of us during winter for at least 2 years.
  8. The park in winter also runs alternate slides. One slide for one hour, then another for an hour. Why couldn't they just do the same as they do with their other slides?

    Simply put, complaints.

If they changed it up a bit, the popularity of the ride would increase as people would want to experience the new side of it.

However in winter it would still be completely barren. I happened to inquire through Email when the Mammoth Plunge was moved to Seaworld, they specifically stated "issues with running 2 different slides during winter months" was their reasoning.
  9. Slightly off topic, but I'd really like to see them update one of their Mammoth slides, keep one side open, but enclose the other, add some lighting effects and music, I think it would make two different experiences, for what is two of the same slide.

That creates problems with running the ride, when the slide's popularity started to dwindle that was when they sent the mammoth plunge to SeaWorld Resort, having both sides be mirrored identical slides meant that on quiet days they could close one side and not have any guests complaining that they want to ride the other. With the rides even lower popularity I doubt they'll be changing that now.
  10. Good to hear. Yet underwhelming if it's only up the lift hill, could have just whacked some speakers on the stairs.

I dunno, I reckon the ride's too loud to warrant use of the speakers after the hill. And wouldn't stair speakers cause sync issues? having to organize speakers so that every person can hear every word moving up the hill sounds difficult.
  11. It's kinda strange to consider that in 1997 when Dreamworld built the world's tallest and fastest ride, the park's other two coasters were a custom mouse and a Meisho looper, not exactly the sort of park you'd expect to build such an ambitious ride.

Wasn't that because the park was sold to a more ambitious owner?
  12. I popped in today for a few hours after a quiet day at Wet N Wild, and while going to the Green Lantern queue area I noticed that the old Batman ride queue area and the old batman building are blocked off, and pieces of the batman building are being removed. Hopefully a new building comes with some more specific info on the ride, can't wait to see it.

  13. From what I've read I'm starting to believe the ride will resemble more the Spiderman ride on a smaller roomed scale and with laser targets now. It's obvious there's going to be some motion simulator sequences(this was mentioned in that article) as well as live props to shoot. The description of the 8 screen setup is leading me to believe the trains actually "stop" in front of the screens(makes sense as the 3D would be easier to see) and start moving and shaking along with on screen action as a motion simulator usually does.

Sounds like a worthy successor to me, can't wait to see this in action. Where'd you get this info, anyway? Not even attendants at the closed Green Lantern assumed/knew/read about that much.
