    INSIDE INFORMATION.

    This is breaking and exclusive.

The ride is called 'SuperBatMan' and it will launch in time for the September school holidays. It will be themed to the new Superman vs Batman movie. It will be a dual steel coaster, similar to the one at the Harry Potter theme park in Universal Studios - albeit updated and a fresher take.

Media release coming tomorrow through the Gold Coast Bulletin.

    SuperBatMan? What a bollocks name.

If this is even remotely true, I will format centre all of my future Parkz forum posts.

I've got a pretty good idea what flat ride is relatively new and to date, I don't think has ever been a permanent install in a park in the world. It would tick the marketing boxes of being a world first, world best, etc, and probably fit the budget guessing at the cost. Ill keep it to myself for awhile and see what happens with the site though unless someone wants to do a little digging to see what might fit the bill.

Why so secretive? I'm interested to see what kind of world first ride you're speculating they will put in.

If you really wanted to hide Superman, how difficult is it to use the technology where you can have plain glass, but can also instantly frost itself?

Most people would never have seen those windows before, it'd certainly be a nice distraction to keep everyone interested while waiting in the queue, even if the novelty wears off after a few times.

make the screens go statticky every so often (because of that earthquake)

Always thought the earthquake effects should move into the queue line. Rumbling noises, flickering lights and statticky screens would fit perfectly just as the train leaves the station.

  4. A few years ago I would praise Movie World for having seemingly nonexistent queues during peak times. I took a bunch of friends last year and told them we wouldn't have to worry about waiting times at Movie World, but spent the rest of the day getting roasted while we waited around in queues all day.

I think everyone here echoes the same sentiments. Put in some attractions that take in a large amount of people and keep them entertained for a large amount of time. All the old crowd killers were removed and replaced with great attractions, but they're just no where near as capacity friendly.

I do not like the pointless and gross over-the-shoulder seat belt - which when I rode was already dripping wet and smelling of swimming pool.

None of the other Mack water coasters have this. And yes, I've heard the party line about Australia having tougher safety standards, but mine fell off on its own mid-ride, which doesn't aid safety in any way :)

It also makes people freak out unnecessarily when it does fall off mid-ride, I've seen it happen more than once.

But what theming? That's kind of my point really. There's hardly any theming to it. You just go up, and then you come down, and you get a bit wet!

Have you ridden the ride? What do you call that massive building made of shipping containers, with boats, cars, barrels, water jets etc. Theming is the thing that Storm has going for it, I think they did a great job at it.

  7. Sound like your average day at a water park for me.

Having been to both WnWGC and WnWS a few times each, GC is far better for a nice day out, park operations are much smoother, probably because they've been doing it for years. Sydney is probably better in terms of the slides, but not by much, and apart from the slides/wave pool, there's not much else to do, especially in the form of relaxing, which is seemingly encouraged at WnWGC.

The atmosphere is lacking, they're in desperate need of more buildings and foliage. It's like a parking lot theme park but without the compensation of fun roller coasters. The third time I visited was one of the few times I've wanted to go home midway through the day at a theme park. That and when I rode Superman Escape a few too many times years ago and felt sick as a dog.

Also, not having a ride like Surf Rider is a real let down, easily the highlight of WnWGC for me, considering I don't see the big deal when it comes to water slides

I really want the park to do well to show that a fully-fledged amusement park would be viable in Sydney. As it stands, I'll probably visit once again this summer

  8. Surely a new park on the GC can't be harmful to the other parks. The most traffic comes from people who are staying in the area for a few days and will visit multiple parks. It's not like everyone's going to forget about the parks that are already established as the most famous in Australia. The existing parks will be forced to do more to compete, I reckon it's one of the best things that could happen for consumers.

  9. it's the only coaster i've been on that's fast and thrilling and have to hold on for dear life the WHOLE ride

For me, there's an existing balance between fun forces (ie the main forces you feel) and intense forces (ie the holding on for dear life factor while you're being beaten up by the ride.)

Something like Superman gives you lots of fun forces (launch, airtime, Gs on the banked corners) with little intense forces, whereas something like Arkham gives you less fun forces with a lot of intense forces. It just shakes you around and batters you, leaving you physically exhausted by the end of the ride, with the most fun parts being the drop, the (zero g?) overbank past the station and the helix at the end. I find the former (superman) much more enjoyable.
