  1. Whilst I recognise their differences, does anyone think an Intamin Mega Lite would be too similar to Superman Escape?

Unless they put in another short Intamin accelerator, I fail to see anything else that could be so similar that I would feel cheated for variety in comparison to Superman.

They could put in a Stormrunner clone for instance, which is even more similar to SE, but the extra length and those inversions would make it a unique enough experience that I wouldn't be disappointed.

A mega lite is pretty damn different to SE. The only similarities are the airtime hills, and who doesn't want more of those?

  2. You people! What is wrong with you? How could you say no to roller coasters?

Who's saying we can't get a flat AND a coaster? Or a dark ride AND a coaster? Or a flat AND a dark ride AND a coaster AND a new car park? These things aren't mutually exclusive!

anything that's not a rollercoaster ( the gold coast has enoth dam rollercoasters)

sea world now has three rollercoasters . there's no need for a forth

I disagree. More roller coasters = More successful parks on the Gold Coast. We have a few coasters already, only some of which I would consider world class. What is the harm in getting a few more? In what way will having more coasters do harm to the parks?

I agree with ash.1111 instead of another roller coaster add a bucket full of flat rides to give a bit more of a variety of rides cause the online real  thrill ride what they have in the back would be storm coaster and the jet rescue as they demolished the sea viper and pirate ship.

I hope you realise you aren't agreeing with ash.1111 there. They said they would "rather one iconic ride (be it a roller coaster, dark ride etc.) than a collection of average flats" (which is what a 'bucket full' of flat rides would be.) If it's a thrill ride you're looking for, another coaster is your best bet, and will destroy the competition of a bunch of flats or a dark ride.

I know Sea World is not aimed at the hyper Thrillseeker dynamic, but I really would love to see something pretty intense! But not only is it unlikely to happen for financial reasons, it is probably not the smarftest move from a marketing perspective either unfortunately.

Why not? I think we are narrowing the different parks' audiences too much. It's not like the only people who go to SW are families with young kids or the only people who go to DW are hormonal teenagers. The audiences are pretty spread out amongst all of the parks, which makes all of them suitable for more roller coasters.

Plenty of people up on the GC are visiting for the rides at other parks, but still like to have a pop in to Sea World as it is. Why not attract more of these people by giving them another good coaster to ride on the day?

As for Sea Vipers/ Pirate Ship's Land, look is it greedy to think and RMC and a Mack Launch Coaster could could co exsist quite well?  I mean by all means you lot keep talking about uninspiring x-car coasters and I'll just go ahead and have a bit of ambition for the park.  Oh and Sea World does need a coaster.  Plonk a flat ride down near Storm if you must.  There's a lot of wasted land in the middle of that ride if someone wants to get clever about using it.

BOOM! Right on the money. It's okay to rationalise your expectations, but dreaming for something that seems just a bit out of reach is better than settling for some low capacity mediocre and/or shittle coaster. A launched Mack is something that has been mentioned on here before, it would be absolutely perfect if you ask me.

  3. Naah, it was just getting interesting. We've seen enough similar shots of things on GL to know that they're doing something.

The whole dark ride portion of the coaster has walkways which you can be evacuated from. That and any area that has brakes on it has a catwalk to enable evacuation in the event of a ride stop so you wouldn't just be stuck there. If the ride goes into a e-stop they will under NO circumstances restart the ride without a full evacuation.

Who comes to evacuate you in each area in the event of an E-Stop?

  4. I do agree a 2nd train should be purchased for AA. The queue line area isn't that much, and if it's queued back to the do it can take about 2hrs, that's rediculous.

I know that some other Vekoma SLCs run with 2 trains. Is the block system to run multiple trains already installed on the ride and just not being used, or would they have to install a new system to get 2 trains to work?

  5. I will ride the Giant Drop, but only once per trip up. It really does scare the shit out of me even after riding 4 times separately, whereas for every other ride on the coast I am completely unfazed.

I used to think the same for the aqualoop, but that doesn't even get me anymore, maybe I just need to go and ride the GD 6 times in a day or something.

  6. I think though that this is a very good way at increasing the prices without 'bill shock' like in previous years.

Yes - everyone's been conditioned to a $99 price point...

Now - the pass is $108, or $144 with the night events included. Consider last year's passes included the night events at $99, they've already got people paying $45 more per year for it - and little to no uproar or complaints about it... when you break stuff down into a 'per month' price, it seems less of a difference...

And they've already told everyone that the price will go up for next year... that's a whole YEAR for people to adjust to the new price point...hardly something a person will whinge about when they've known about it for a whole year... they're already paying $144, next year more.... it's BRILLIANT - and the perfect way to dig themselves out of the hole they've found themselves in.

Ok, I can see that now. Maybe people aren't as dumb as I thought.

  7. The prices are ridiculously cheap. The parks have dug a hole for themselves. No one realises the value they get in their unlimited/VIP passes and it has just become the standard. You saw this when people blew up on facebook about WnWS's season ticket price. It was still very good value, but the market has just been saturated.

  8.

But the earthquake doesn't hit until you're on board - the theme is that you're going for a ride on the MRT. If the lights in the station were flickering - that would suggest that the earthquake had already hit, in which case what are you doing queuing to get on board a subway train when you should be evacuating the station?

I didn't make this perfectly clear. There's a segment themed to a station that you travel through after leaving the actual coaster station. This is where flickering lights would make sense.

  9. I honestly don't mind that there isn't much theming outside the building.

They could definitely do something to spice up the inside of the subway and the queue line though.

I think the concrete walls are boring, and the lighting isn't correct. I'd prefer tiled walls and floors in station sections (both the loading station and the stations that you travel through in the dark ride section. I'd love to see those green struts typical of New York subway stations as well.

As for lighting, it should be dark like it currently is for the non-station segments, and it should have a sort of yellowy hue in the station areas, perhaps with flickering lights due to the earthquake. The lighting needs some variety, but currently we have a fluorescently lit station, then a dreary dark concrete subway with no lighting effects at all.

These upgrades aren't feasable though, the park should just move on to bigger and better things. Superman is still going to be my favourite ride in the country regardless, but after riding Storm for the first time last week and seeing how well they've done the indoor section for that, I've realised how dull Superman's indoor theming is in comparison.

  10. I was up just last week, I went to MW for 1 day, SW 1 day. I went back to MW for half a day after having a go at WnW, then another half day at MW the morning before leaving.

Crowds were a bit larger than I expected, but at least the parks felt alive. Having talked to a few people on various rides and in various queues, I met quite a lot from WA. I'm not sure if it was just luck of the draw, but certainly it would make sense if they were earlier in their holiday period.

  11. What about when it's at the very top? Or does it not stretch that far up?

I would assume in order of likeliness to break: Bottom, pre-launch > Top on first launch > anywhere in the middle

Yeah, there's no way it could stretch more at the top more than it was already stretching at the bottom. If it is weak enough to snap at the top, it would have already snapped at the bottom before the launch.
