  1. I must admit I wasn't looking at it with more accomodation being available which would obviously change things as I can't see the day-to-day park crowds going for it and it's too far out to be a regular night attraction.

I think there's a massive difference when comparing to bowling though because bowling is accessible to anyone of any age and ability.

Unless you play golf already, golf (outside of mini golf) is basically inaccessible to everyone.

  2. 58 minutes ago, Bailz said:

    It hurts like hell.

I understand that criticism and it is certainly not the most comfortable ride but personally I have never found it to be any worse than that.

I hear more whinging from my family about the uncomfortableness of the Scooby Doo lapbar, but the only ride I find to hurt like hell is the Road Runner Rollercoaster after the sudden braking causes knees to crash into the front of the car.

  3. Concur with the sentiments expressed by many thus far.

DW the stand out park for me, a multitude of different ride experiences and a good, full day of activity, as well as having a nice range of 'other' experiences; animals, Tiger show, Outback show etc.....

Of the other parks I rate SW higher than MW because of the variety on offer and I am probably harder on MW because I usually find their shows to be quite mediocre.

Water park wise, I see WnW as being a superior park, I must admit I look at WWW as being more of a nice add-on to DW rather than a park in its own right.

  4. Another reason to keep the monorail is it is the only (albeit less than ideal) link between the resort and public transport.

A lot of tourists take advantage of the excellent GC public transport network but the bus stop is a long hike from the resort, and with small kids the best option is to jump on the monorail and then walk out the front gate to the bus stop.

  5. I just received an email back from Dreamworld after giving them a bit of customer feedback and I mentioned to them about the current state of the Mississippi river and they said it might not look too appealing but they said it makes there water way even more healthy, prevents weed growth and is very nutritional for the marine life.

So our un-appealing river isn't  as bad as we think.

I've mentioned before that I suspect the complaining about the river is generally done by 'city' dwellers.

It always looks pretty typical to me, the only issue is the rubbish and that is just a reflection of ordinary people and hard for Dreamworld to manager.

  6. Considering the price of food at every other major food outlet in every park on the GC, i think $20 is perfectly reasonable for a sit-down dining area, with the location and views it offers, not to mention the brand new fit out.

Im going to make what will probably be viewed as a very unpopular opinion - but personally I feel like anyone who says 'blah blah price blah blah that's why I don't eat at the parks' is an asshole - especially if that asshole has an annual pass. You get in for next to nothing per day, and you can't spring a little extra to actually enjoy what the park is made to do? Suspend everyday?

Ok fine - if you're park hopping, or just dropping in - thats different. But if you're there for the day - eat there. Don't pass out halfway through to go across the road to McDonalds... geezus... and people wonder why the parks aren't building new attractions!

Of course - if that statement is 'blah blah quality blah blah' - thats a different story - but i think all of the parks have been upping their game in that department of late....

I agree with you in theory but it is a quality issue for me. I generally find food in theme parks to fall in between fast food and pub standard in terms of quality, which makes it too expensive.

I think the parks should take an 'if you build it they will come approach' and increase the quality of food and reduce the price.

We saw a similar thing down here in Mexico this year at the MCG. Food and drink prices were high and quality low and crowds and spending was down despite low ticket entry prices.

They dropped the prices and increased the quality and choice and crowds and sales have sky-rocketed as a result.

  7. Are we talking about the same park?

Main entry station could be closed off with a temp relocation of (is it still animal adventures in there?) that building it's next to.

Then you've got 1 pole on the water's edge - not impacting anything. 1 Pole in the water resulting in a temp closure of that walkway for maybe 2 days? 1 pole (based on google maps) near a dolphin pool which shouldn't result in any impact to guests apart from a small path area being closed off. 1 pole near the log ride station - time it with the maint for log ride and you've got little to no impact. 1 pole just outside the second station - not sure how it fits in with storm but shouldn't be too hard to remove in a day or so. Final station building should be pretty much on its own still isn't it?

Maybe you're right, probably depends on how 'removed' it is.

I would have thought something that high running straight down the middle of the park would cause some issues but maybe not. I guess time will tell.

  8. And unless you'd been on the skyline chairlift or know about them, it isn't obvious that they were rides/attractions. They both blend into the theming of the area and unless you look carefully you wouldn't know. It will be great if they reopen Eureka, but if it remains there for many more years then it isn't a major issue.

Yep, I've been to Dreamworld many, many times post chairlift and the first I knew about it was reading it on this forum.

  9. I don't pretend to be connected with any park gossip from down here in Mexico so make of this what you will.

My mother was talking to a friend of hers who lives on the GC and she said her tradie son is very happy at the moment because he has a job working on an old ride Dreamworld are getting going again and he gets to slip off into the park and have a free visit each day after work.

Can't see how it could be anything else.

  10. If it is to reopen, I just hope that they get the themeing right.

It needs to have a story to it, which is well explained. Otherwise it would basically just be a somewhat rough indoor wild mouse.

I think it would be silly not to capitalise on the idea that it's been closed and abandoned for many years.

    Make it haunted!

The ghosts could either be the miners from the abandoned mine, or put a completely different angle on it, and have it haunted by Dreamworld guests who rode it many years ago!

    That's a brilliant idea.
