  1. Just a quick thought I had, and I would love to hear other peoples opinions on the matter.

Seeing as how it appears some form of lodging will be at the Oxenford parks, could we possibly see a fully-fledged hotel appear on the horizon?

If the Entertainment Precinct is anything like CityWalk or Downtown Disney, I think this wouldn't be so far-fetched. A campsite could also be a pretty low-risk entry point IMHO.

There is a method to my madness to why I say only people like Brad, Alex & some others should be pulling information of these documents.  Town planning and certification takes years & years of schooling just to understand these documents so it makes sense to me, only people with more than half a brain should be trying to write about them.

Sorry to annoy you then, Skeet.

  3. Wowza! Was just checking out PD Online and while it's not directly related to the "World Class Attraction", it is something worthwile.

Just to add to my earlier info I found.  The prices MW paid for the OPW would indicate that.

    Earthworks size  =  1001m2 to 5000m2

The tree removal is linked to another application.  (what that application is, I do not know)

"Tree works linked to a development application, includes vegetation management plan and fauna management plan when the MCU/ROL requires these plans to be submitted in conjunction with Tree Works application."

I managed to find a site plan attached to the landscaping application, and it turns out that this tree works appears to be a campsite over near Paradise County.

I would link to it, but I'm a little unsure in case that goes against the VRTP's or Parkz's rules. However, this information is publicly available on the PD Online site for the Gold Coast.

I do not know but Brad is right, I think it was killed off a long time ago.  Also if something was going outside of the park, I would of thought we would see a MCU application for it.

I'm not trying to imply that this concept is what's happening, but it's quite clear that MW have dabbled in something that fits quite lot of the criteria for these new developments.

Interesting indeed.  We did roughly work out that the OPW application cost of work was a lot.  My investigations so far makes me think the large cost of works for ground level changes could be for a new lake.  To me the new attraction early works would be for the roller coaster.  The entertainment precinct could be a whole new themed area.  More digging to be done lol.  I do also remember somewhere at some time and correct me if I am wrong but MV where looking at doing a different precinct to the park,. something like at the front of disney that never ended up happening

Could this be what you where thinking of?

    image.thumb.jpeg.67a68436fe8a168be2406c5image.thumb.jpeg.fdb6e76097e87d5d9bc42b0

These were commissioned back in 2011. While they do seem a bit old, it's quite clear that Movie World have looked at some form of entering precinct containing some form of lake

EDIT: Just realised that this concept actually ticks off a large amount of the developments. It's situated on a section of the old car park, it features some form of lakeside development, as well as being an entertainment precinct. The future is looking bright.

I'm definitely excited for this new coaster. But just saying here, does anyone else think Australia needs a good simulator ride. Ever since Batman Adventure closed in 2011 I feel like it's a type of ride that has been missing for a while now

A good simulator can be really enjoyable, but even the most mediocre ones can be painful at times. IMHO, there's a fine line when it comes to simulators and I'm not too sure whether MW could pull it off.

My dream Mad Max ride would be Test Track system, That would be a perfect ride!

My dream Mad Max ride would be a smaller RMC that predominantly hugs and interacts with the terrain (ala Nemesis). It could be a great coaster that not only feels like a true-to-life experience of the films but also features that "madness" that the franchise is known for.

Whatever they do with that franchise, I should be content with it. As long as it's not bloody Fast 'n' Furious Supercharged

  7. I'm not a fan of motorsports either, so the Brock Museum isn't going to be a drawcard for me. I'll probably check it out once it's opened, but I won't drive me to renew my pass.

What I am curious to see is the changes made to the Cyclone, and to see whether they've made the ride into something tolerable.

Probably been covered to some degree already, but it's only just dawned on me how much the Food & Beverage options have improved lately. We're getting a sports bar, which already sounds promising, not to mention Dough Bros and the Green Bean.

It may sound pathetic, but I'm more excited for the food offerings than these upcoming attractions

And I'm sure the music will be a nice addition... let's hope they have it working 100% of the time.

I'm curious as to what the music would be. Would we be hearing some generic stock music? A feed of the music playing in Ocean Parade?

Seeing as how no one else has posted this...

Yes, but the roller coaster could be the main part of a dark ride that needs to be built. Especially if they use an existing sound stage as the building for it!

Pretty sure the soundstages, while under the parent company of Village Roadshow, are a completely separate entity from the parks. Even then, you've got many major international films slated to be filmed there as well as the soundstages being utilised as an event space for the Commonwealth Games in 2018.

I'm pretty sure soundstages can be ruled out.

Justice league is far too basic for me. It loses its novelty after the first couple of times. There's really not much to it.

Unfortunately, not every ride is designed for each individual. Justice League isn't a must-ride for me but I know that when I go with family, the younger kids enjoyed it just as much, if not more than some major attractions.

Even if this new attraction doesn't suit your tastes, you must surely be excited about the ongoing care and development in the park?

  10. Arkham Asylum is a heap of manure.

The coasters in Australia I'd rate as being worth travelling for are:

    - Superman
    - Scooby Doo (when all the theming is working...)
    - Green Lantern
    - Jet Rescue
    - Abyss
    - The two wooden mice

And yes, I have deliberately left out the Melbourne Scenic (which is horrid, an accident waiting to happen) and everything at Dreamworld.

Seems like you've left out a lot of the cookie cutter coasters, but I'm curious as to why you rated Green Lantern as being worth travelling for?

I don't think it's a bad coaster by any means, but it's not exactly original.

  11. Maybe "amongst the best in the world" was probably along the lines he meant, with "best" being fairly ambiguous and open to personal interpretation.

That was one of my thoughts when this news first dropped.

There isn't really an international standard for a "world's best attraction" since we all think different attractions qualify. Some may find " Escape from Gringotts" to fit the description while others may see it as "Twisted Colossus" or even a Mega-Lite.

At the end of the day, at least we know that this new coaster isn't going to be horrible.

  12. ^^Not a fan, to be honest, and I stress that is a personal preference. They make fun coasters, but I prefer the ejector air and intensity of RMC and Intamin. Beemer hypers are more floater air and they haven't built a super intense looper of any variety for years (intense ones: Nemesis, Katun, Montu, Kumba, and a few others) IMO. I only qualify my answer as personal preference, I've been on 62 B & Ms, so I've got a good sample to base my preference on.

Certainly DJrappa has built up some anticipation, and as observed by others MW can build something amazing when they want to.

I thought you might have said that due to some more logistical reasons (ie budget), but nevertheless it's quite interesting to see your stance.

I've only been on one B&M, that being Hollywood Dream at Universal Studios Japan, and I can't say I was overwhelmed. I much prefer ejector air towards floater, so I'm almost inclined to say I agree, even with my limited experience
