If this is definitely happening I'll be so pleased that they are keeping a heritage piece of the park and doing what Disney does and pay homage to it by incorporating it near or in another attraction

T-bone if your going please take some more footage if you can love seeing the updates of the steam train perhaps Dreamworld will realise how popular returning the steamers are and purchase another train and return a full steam service again

I think expanding town of gold rush into the defunct blue lagoon and skylink station  areas giving a larger footprint for one additional large attraction with a show building element and a eureka /gold rush themed Reastraunt of some kind would be great and I agree with a thunder river Rapids themeing upgrade with a storyline and eureka mine ride refurb is a given

I'm hoping they keep renovating the park and reopen eureka this year  would love them to come up with a new stunt show concept and rebuild captain Sturt but that's just me being nostalgic  the park was never the same after they let the place go and pulled most of the  classic attractions like the  steam trains and captain Sturt ceased having the bush ranger show  its good that they ardent leisure have woken up to the fact that dreamworld was designed (by ex Disney designers BTW) as a THEMEpark not an amusement park

Anyone notice in the photos they were not throwing out the props from Boot Hill? Perhaps they will be relocated closer to Wild West falls as it fits the same theme  it's been many years since I've been to movie world so my memory of the layout of the park is somewhat muddled so don't kill me if  its in the same area I'm talking about lol

Just looking at an old dreamworld promo footage reel on YouTube  from the 80s and they also used to have train robbers hold up the cannonball express and do a mini show like they did with the captain Sturt paddle wheeler  scince captain Sturt is gone perhaps they should do this again for the days when the steam train is operating I think it would be awesome

When the thunderbolt opened originally  they needed finance to build it so they had a sponsor for it I can't remember who (it was in the 80's) the sponsor was  I think his name was ken lord ?!?!  but  if  a park in Australia is going to seriously consider getting a B&M they are gonna need a few majior sponsors to finance it cos they ain't cheap! lol

[Theme Park Nostalgia]

Anyone remember the Avalanche ride at dreamworld it was a Matterhorn /alpine express type ride located where pandamonium is now back when Kung fu panda land was beautifully themed as village green I loved how the show building was a "snow capped" mountain with a waterfall that landed into a pond with the tall pine trees You'd go into this log cabin at the side of the mountain go through the cue get seated in your gondola the internal lights in the mountain dimmed and you would spin quite fast in and out of the mountain from pitch blackness to the open cave area inside the mountain was a large animatronic yeti with red glowing eyes I was terrified of it when I first rode it as a kid in the 80s lol but sadly as time went on and the owners of the park changed and its constant rethemeing it fell into disrepair in it latter years before ultimately being scrapped I miss it!

Hello! first time poster gold rush country/town of gold rush is dear to me as I grew up going to dremworld in the late 80s into the 90's and seen the park change over the years One of my favorite rides was the eureka runaway mine train ride I'd ride it as many times as I could evey time I visited the park. Any one remember the clackity clack noise of the break run and the hiss of the air brakes at the station the sound track of mining operations water dripping in the cave and distant explosions played on a loop through a hidden speaker near the tunnel opening and how when your cart left the station the track sloped down before the lift hill so your cart sped up went up the lift hill and the suddenly rolled back before locking into the lift hill chain? lol then how when you reached the top of the lift hill how warm it was inside the cave the smell of oil the animatronic going WATCH OUT SHES GONNA BLOW!! your cart sped up into the darkness the BOOM! Strobe lights flashed to simulate and explosion the you turn the corner blinded by daylight your eyes refocused in time to see your cart about to go over the edge of the mountain the ZIP back into the darkness then suddenly down you go into the first drop unexpectedly do a tight turn then drop again almost crashing into the skeleton miner! Aghh! Lol Then tight corner and drops and roars out into the daylight suddenly up into a shed on top of the station and back into the mountain then drops again in pitch blackness turns the corner and one more drop before blasting out of the mountain and into the break run that's how I remember it!
