Thanks for answering. I didn't see the posts in question so I was confused like wtf lol. Good thing they have been banned

The thing about health and safety is that every workplace has elected representatives to fill the position of 'Health and Safety Representative" (HSR). If there were known safety issues identified by an HSR, and the park did not act to address them to the satisfaction of the HSR, the HSR is empowered by legislation to invoke a PIN, or Provisional Improvement Notice. If a PIN is issued, the park would have been given only 8 days (or other reasonable timeframe) to rectify the issue before the HSR could call in WH&S inspectors, who in turn could shut down the park until the breach was rectified... No way there were safety issues identified that were legitimate cause for concern that long ago.

Don't worry @razza1987 - that ridiculous troll was trying to drag them into the discussion, and said some very unpleasant things about them. It was several pages ago, and whilst I realise he has already been banned, I felt that a rebuttal was needed. Don't let it distract you from the rest of the topic.

Thank you for answering. I guess I missed the posts in question so I was confused. I honestly don't know why that idiot brought up that family. They have absolutely nothing to do with this tragedy

I can't stop thinking as well how the operators of this ride must be feeling today

I'd say my source, knowing the people, is pretty reliable, whereas in the heat of an emergency, emergency services workers need to estimate. I know nothing else about their age except what my friend told me, but they could be 28-29ish, which is reasonably easy to confuse with 'about 32' for an unconscious patient without a person nearby who knows them that can tell them. Potentially their ID is on the bottom of the holding lake.

Whether or not their age is correct, LK will be revealed eventually.

depends on how you class 'safety incident' - the buzzsaw restraint system could be classed as one. The tiger attacks could be others.

    What does LK stand for?

Oh please they demand to be always in the limelight, even when the issue was settled and the person convicted... They STILL insist on riding on the coattails of the death of their kid for a continuing public profile. Mind you, the kid would have been still alive if they were never neglectful parents in the first place and not let a young child hang by the side of the road in the middle of nowhere. They are much to blame for the kids death as is the person that committed the crime.

Wtf are you even talking about???

The way the media report this kind of thing seems to demonstrate they care more about being first than getting the facts straight.

In any case, always awful to hear of accidents at theme parks. Thoughts are with Dreamworld staff, and the families of the victims.

I've spent some time writing to Channel Seven that this ride was NOT the ride that had an incident on it back in April where someone almost drowned but was RHS. I hate it how journalists report incorrect facts.

This whole thing is just shocking. I thought it was a hoax at first. Thoughts go out to the family and friends of those who have passed away and to all the people who witnessed this

    Okay can confirm...

Size restrictions on rides at MW from largest to smallest...

    Justice League 3D

    Arkham Asylum

    Wild West Falls

    Green Lantern

    Batwing Spaceshot

    Superman Escape

    Scooby Doo Spooky Coaster

And yay success getting on GL :)

Can also confirm after speaking to Guest Services that they can arrange discreet harness testing on most of the rides if you enquire with them..  (Oh and Superman is set for open September 14)

It makes me so sad knowing that with the weight I've gained in recent years due to medications I will not fit on Scooby Doo coaster. It was one thing I loved so much about Disney. I could literally fit on every single ride that I got on without any problems whatsoever. I'm planning on taking my partner to the Gold Coast in march. His first time as he's from America. I will still insist he go on SDSC even if I can't because I know how much he would love it. Just sad to know I won't be able to ride it with him :(

Contrary to popular belief, our industry is as supportive of each other as it is competitive. We all have interests in each other on a multitude of levels. Ideas, technology (not just rides but POS systems etc), tourism, of course some competition however all Theme parks strive to have a slice of the market appropriate to their style of park. We often talk and share.

    7. No, as it would be seen to be commercial content for which we are not allowed to provide within this forum. Good rule, as I also would not have time :-)

Could someone please tell me what POS systems stands for?

Or Orlando, being one neither of us have been to, but certainly the biggest and most costly trip? or Hong Kong, a place that is special for us? Shanghai, being brand new? Tokyo, being reasonably close, and one of my wife's favourite countries she's always wanted to visit? Or Paris... because... well... if it's going to be our goal to do all of them we'll have to do Paris at some stage... :P

When I went to America to visit Disney in 2013 I looked at both Orlando and Anaheim. Orlando is actually much better value for money because due to their being Disney hotels everywhere you can get your food, accommodation and theme park tickets all inclusive in the one price. It was much more affordable and actually cost less than Anaheim. The only thing slightly more expensive was the flight

Looks like they literally haven't done anything, haven't even removed the prayer mats.

I zoomed in the picture and can't see any mats xd

The local MP for the division that Movie World sits in.

Surprised you missed all the ongoing kerfuffle on Movie World's Facebook page over recent months. People have been kicking up a stink for a while now about the prayer 'room' being moved to the kids section of the park. Although they were already whinging about its existence before that, when it still stood in the now DC Super-Villians Unleashed area.

Honestly I wonder if maybe they have just closed it off to avoid any further controversy. Out of sight, out of mind, iykwim. They might not have decided what to actually do with the area yet.

Thank you for answering both my questions. Local MP huh. Ok now that makes more sense. Thanks for clearing that up for me :)

  9. I was specifically asking because there doesn't seem to be many adult tame rides anymore. They all seem to be thrill rides. Tame rides exist for children in the park but not for adults. It was what I loved so much about the paddlesteamer. You could just go on it to relax. I was specifically referring to the planes ride up high and the pandemonium ride. Not every wants all thrill rides in a park. Just my opinion though :)
