  1. Thats true, Construction workers can earn up to $100000 a year because of all the allowances they get for every little thing.
Sorry dude, but I have yet to meet a fellow construction worker earning more than 60 000 a year and this includes the allowances on site, (only for site and hight only...no other allowances for normal construction workers. Althought plumbers can get mud money when the first part of the construction happens.) Thunder
  2. We had all those vids on the old ozattractions web site, but the site has undergone a change into a new direction. Will try to find the video and will speak to Rabid about putting it on the site. If I can get it but Rabid tells me that we can't put it on ozcoaster, then will speak to Richard about sending him the video. Shaun put a lot of work into getting the video from the park so it would be a shame not to use it. See what I can do but can't promise anything.

  3. I am now thinking that the new attraction for next year will get everyone very "WET". But with what WBMW is rumored to be getting next year, well the sky is the limit and I will be waiting to deceide on which park to get the yearly ticket for. News to Hand......Mammoth Falls to be relocated to Seaworld next year with an new attraction to open at WNW next year. Please treat as a rumor only at this time.

  4. Unless the park can come up with a ride that does not require staff to load it, then they will never overcome the problems with the loading time for any ride built within the park. After talking with the park today, the responce that I received is that the park will be making a final choice for a new attraction before x-mas and it will open late next year. The choice has yet to be made on the type of ride that the park will be building next year. The only thing that was confirmed is that there should be a new ride opening next year something, nothing else was said on the matter at this time. So if you so that the park is getting something and that they have started in the process of building, then show something in a picture and I will gladly give you the credit that is yours. If not, then I think it wise to treat everything posted about a new ride as a rumor unless it is from the park. Sorry dude, but this is the only way to keep fact from fiction. :)

  5. Scott, just to get back to your question on the $100million for the Town Square, the original plans/suggestions for this area also included about half a dozen small impact rides for familys. If you take into account that the power requirements alone for this area could cost the park around $160 000 to $200 000 dollars for Energex to supply a new sub station if required, then the money goes down in size a little. Add into it the traffic changes required to enter the town square and the outlay to council for this and all plans, then the money goes down again. It is true that 100 million would go along way, but the reason for the figure is only cause I have no idea what is going into the town square, so I went for a large figure to cover the area. The TS may only cost half of that and that would leave 50 million for something that we know nothing about. Hope that explains where I was coming from with that 100 milliion figure. :)

  6. Ok, so after a lot of thought, I have come up with a few ideas about the 250 million. The one thing that has been known for a while is the "Town Square" concept of the park, so let's put aside about 100 million for that area straight off the bat. This leaves us with approx 150 million to play with. So here is an idea I have come up with after looking at the map and the way that the park could expand in the future, and taking into account the relationship that the park now seems to have with the Paramount parks in the USA. If the park was to install a new water area (Boomerang Bay) on the old Thunderbolt site. This would account for the early work starting on the site now as it would take a long time to create such a area. This would allow the park to remove the old water area and to open the land up for use after the Big Brother contract has finished. It would also update the water area of the park to compete with Wet'n'Wild. In total for the land construction I guess you could allow approw 80 - 100 million. So this still allows for about 50 - 70 million depending on the above total of course. Which would still allow for a new coaster and a couple of thrill rides for the park, maybe a Sally Dark Ride in the old Riverside section of the park behind the Tower of Terror. Remember that this is only my random thoughts and a few prayers also. Any thoughts on my thoughts????

  7. I don't see your point Richard at all with the thought being "downright ridiculous and insulting". In our little section of the world, done correctly, this could be a great tribute to a person who inspired at lot of ppl around the world to try to be better towards each other. Of course it would have to be done as a tribute to his life, with a walk through of the achivements in his life, with the final worlds being that you can now fly like he did in his movies. But as I said, it would have to be done correctly or it would just be to cheesy to ride on.

  8. There is a reason for the head rests on the TOT being so high. If you were to launch backwards, you not only have the wipelash that was mentioned before, but you would have ppl coming off the ride with smashed forehead's from the impact on the seats/protective glass with the current design. I think that we are all reading to much into this. Look for a themeing upgrade perhaps, considering the parks new "relationship" with Paramount, and the fact that the CEO of the park has just returned from the states and seen how it is done over there. As far as not telling ppl what you are not allowed to say, PM to ppl that you trust, as the thought is not as well received as you would think. RUMOR ONLY>>>> I was told this, although I can't see it happening, that the arcade and the Gravatron will soon be removed from the park to allow more room for the attractions to go into the old Thunderbolt site. Still no news on what that will be, but a new source of mine tells me that there is a coaster coming to the park within the next two years.<<<< RUMOR ONLY.

  9. Heard some more info on the new ride and it is all sounding good. I don't want to post it yet as I am waiting for conformation from a few ppl about certain things. Let's say this as a RUMOR only, but there might be a good reason that some reps from Disney were visiting WBMW over the last couple of months. Sounds like a deal may have been reached. Still only a rumor at this stage.

  10. The reason as best as I can gather for the oversized control room is to house the PLC's for the sensors on the ride. Most of the rides with this style of ride use radio freq sensors on the seats and that alone requires a lot of computer power to keep control of those sensors, so that in the event of a problem with the ride seats, it can be shut down as soon as possible. If anyone has a copy of the doco from the Discovery Channel last year on the new thrill rides, they go into the whole process of how the rides sensors are set up and the control room for that ride is about the same size as the one we are seeing in the pictures. I do find it strange that they would house such a large transformer in a concrete building, as that is one thing that requires a lot of air flow to allow it to keep cool. They do not like the heat at all. Richo or anyone who goes to the park, try to see if the area where the transformer is placed, if inside the building, has a aircon system installed. This would make more sense as to keep the whole thing cool. Can't wait to the media day for a ride.

  11. Nice work, but a few thoughts should this be a real layout. Lets say that you own all the land around the current design, how would you expand the park in the years to come? To be truthfull, I can't see anything else wrong with the picture, and that is some great work on the detail of some of the coasters. Take some time and try to do a large scale picture of this park and see where your mind takes you. Great work again.

  12. We have to remember that this is a new style of ride for the "Average" Aussie, and most of them have never even heard of this type of ride, let alone know about it. We here are up-to-date with the different styles of rides throughout the world, so to us this is not the first time that we have seen a picture or video of this ride. But to the rest of the country, this is indeed a "New Thing", so ofcourse the park is going to go all out and try to promote the hell out of this ride and make it sound like something that we know it is not. But that is the parks job, and if they don't go overboard then they don't get the attendance they need to warrent this type of new attraction. This has all come out of a Press release and it is designed to do one thing, to get ppl talking about the new ride. And by looking at this thread, it has worked.

  13. The safety of the ride operator using the parks equipment does fall under work place health and safety. If they are required to wear certain clothing, then it is up to the park to enforce their staff to wear it. Wet weather clothing in a lot of places is up to the employee to supply, and is normally ok as long as it falls under certain guide lines. These may include long LOOSE sleeves, or any item that may fall into any moving part of the ride that the operator may have to get close to during the normal operation of the ride. But you then open a hole new area of the WPHS laws, which I don't want to get into as this is not the thread to do it. What it boils down to is the park making sure that the operators are not in any harm from the rides while the are in operation, this would include electric shock from the control panel during wet weather. If anyone has anymore questions about the Work Place Health and Safety Laws then start a new thread and I will try to answer them the best that I can.

  14. Getting back to the issue of the plastic over the controls. If you go to your local show/fair in wet wether, you might see the controls that are in the open covered by a purpose fit plastic cover with the same idea that ppl use to cover their cars. They are made from clear plastic and fit over the entire control panel, so I would think that the park could afford 2-3hundred dollars to make some of these covers up, even if the rides could be gone soon. It would be down to the Work place health and safety officer to make the call on wether the park requires them or not. But then again, nothing surprises me anymore.

  15. If you look at the pictures of Ian's then you can see two large semi-circle parts (red) that could be the base of the ride. The large red beams beside the semi-circles could be for the suports between the main support beam and the outside semi-circle that we can see in the pictures from the company's web page, at ridetrade.com. Goto the bottom of the page and click the Gyro picture to see what I mean. Any other thoughts on the parts?

  16. Just a note, the cranes on site today were not Skyreach cranes, but Gold Coast Cranes. And one of the company's semi tralliers was also there with small parts for either the ride or the weights for the cranes. All the large supports have disapeared from the outside of the park, but may be inside the park, as I did not enter today. I hope that Rabid will have pictures to confirm this on the site by tomorrow night. If not I am sure that he will let us know when.

  17. Ok then let me put this thought out there. What if ING is keeping the park maintained incase the re-zoneing of the land is not approved. If this happens, then ING would be stuck with a lot of land that they could do nothing with. If they keep the rides but don't want to keep it, they could sell the park to, say an American Operator who is wanting into the Sydney market. Just a thought, but it does make a little sense.
