At the end of the racing section the two tracks peel away from each other for the turnaround. Viewed from above, this makes the layout look like a giant Y.

The Bat is in fact the 2nd suspended coaster to operate at Kings Island. The first iteration of the ride (Of the same name) operated briefly from 1980 to 1984. Being a prototype with a very forceful layout it was plagued by mechanical problems, until it was forced to close.
