A section of small hills near the start.
The ride is themed to an African colonial era diamond mine.
The main family coaster at Alton Towers is the Runaway Mine Train
The ride had to be shoehorned in between the Skyride and the now removed Corkscrew coaster, meaning an awkward hairpin turn after the main brake.
Before you hit the brakes there is a fun little pop of airtime.
There is a good spot of positive g's as you round this corner.
A train ripping around the first turn at 100 km/h
Well, sort of. The ride was part of a wider area known as Ug Land...a prehistoric themed area. It appears attempts were made to fit it in, with caveman prints seen on the stairs for instance...However in the last year the rest of the attractions have left the area, meaning the ride looks plain odd thematically (If it wasn't already)
Did we mention the ride has a motor rally theme?
Whilst the first hill gives a strong dose of airtime, the rest seem to just quickly flick you through the twist at the top.
What follows is a 5g banked turn, airtime hill, and a figure 8 style layout with quick tranistions and brief pops of airtime.
As with all Intamin accelerators, a hydraulic launch blasts riders to high speed at the start of the ride.
Rita is the parks launched coaster, themed to a sort of car rally.
Oblivion, as seen from the Towers Complex.
It really does give the impression of being a hidden military installation.
