A small joke from the designers...SW4 was Oblivions codename when it was under construction.
The ride has the theme of a restricted area, so the ride building and queue reflects this.
As a result of the wide trains the ride systems are appropriatley supersized.
This is achieved through a unique loading process. Two trains are loaded at once. Each train has four queuing rows, which are loaded alternatley, the result is trains that can be loaded quickly, and a fast moving queue.
The ride features unique 8 across, two row trains. Some creative operational systems means the ride can run 6 of these at once!
Its a simple, quick, thrilling ride, essentially the parks equivalent of a drop tower.
A quick turn leads the trains into the brakes.
After plunging into a deep, mist filled tunnel guests emerge on the other side.
...And drop them into a big hole.
And that's pretty much all there is to it. Take guests up to a high place...
Oblivion claims to be the worlds first vertical drop roller coaster.
Warning: Contains moving parts.
The helix before the barrel roll.
The ride is surrounded by lush landscaping.
The final turn is nicely screened from the car park.
The ride continues to swoop back and forth, dissapearing back out of view.
The rides next trick is a barrel roll.
After the tunnel a swooping turn takes you over a large piazza where you zoom over the heads of those milling around below.
You are soon back to flying though, dipping into a tunnel.
