Hi All, I had a RDO today so decided to bite the bullet and get back to the parks after not visiting for a while. Movieworld 1030 - 1 Superman Escape Posted Wait - 15 Minutes I managed to get a single rider ride within about 10 minutes of waiting so that was all good. There was no steam operating from the vents, but the waterfall was working again so that was good. Was evacuated at the launch due to a problem with the ride. I did see it going again later in the day but couldn't be bothered paying for another locker Hollywood Stunt Driver I raced up to HSD to check out the 11am show. It was much better than I remember last. The new "producer" is much better than the previous video. Scooby Doo Posted wait - 0 minutes waited in line around 5 minutes for scooby, once again scoring a single rider seat. Scooby's mouth dosn't appear to move on any of the animatronics anymore. The wild mouse had no visible haze but all the lazers were great. Journey to the Centre of the Earth 4-D there was no wait for this attraction because it was not open. Polar Express 4d was showing instead. so if they are going to close Journey for xmas then wouldnt it be easy to take the posters down outside, and also put a notice at the gates that it was closed? was a little peeved off.... Staff The young girl at the upgrade booth had an issue with her hair. while i spoke to her about the vip pass she seemed to enjoy plaiting and replaiting it. She never looked more bored in her entire life. all the other staff were great and didn't have any problems. Seaworld Went to Seaworld to check out the Pirate show and Castaway bay, and also to ride Sea Viper. The pirate show is terrible..... it really is a very boring experience. due to the lightning all the rides were closed, but was cool to see the massive penguin enclosure building ;d ok so that was my day at sw and mw1

In regards to the copyright issue. i agree with AlexB - about "fair dealing" but my interpretation is different. "Fair Dealing" basically means you can copy less that 9.99% of the book to show here with no worries at all. You can actually copy the whole book and show it here if the purpose and character of the copying is not for profit the possibility of obtaining the work commercially. the effect of the use on the potential market for the work is not going to cause a problem. So, my thoughts with my limited legal knowledge. Post up to 9.99% of the book if you want to stay completly out of trouble. Post it all if you think you would be able to prove your use under "Fair Dealing" I personally don't see an issue with it, but if the new MW book which has been spoken about contains infomation and photos from the previous book MW may not take kindly to you posting pictures and info they are trying to sell in a new book. "fair dealing allows research and study; review and critique;" You can post excerpts from the book for the site to review and critique, or use for research and study, which we technically are doing anyway! Regardless, havn't MW asked for things to be removed from this site in the past without going through a huge legal bruhaha? If they have a problem I'm sure they will be on here and ask the mods to remove. Or, the mods may just say no to your posting at all. nate

Why an upcharge? This is Dreamworld we are talking about! I want you guys to try and think of an Upcharge that is both value for money and exciting! Something a paying guest might actually want to do. An Upcharge attraction does not have to be a silly thing, it can actually be quite good. Just think creatively! Nate

Well I assumed that the casings would fold out onto separate tracks. Like instead of lowering underneath the track, they would lower and fold out onto separate tracks. Do you know what I mean? Would be fairly easily assembled with a magnet system where the magnets disengage at a certain section of the ride, and then they reengage at Thr unload station. Secondly, I don't want you two scaring off other potential contestants by nit-picking their ideas! Lol. If it's going to be 10 weeks of people having to explain themselves then that's not much fun is it! Lol. What someone may not understand fully (the casings for instance), other people may get straight away. Keep this light guys, remember, we are not actually putting a proposal together to submit to DW) If we were, then gaz, your proposal would need to be completly reworked as your ride does not fit into the Eureka footprint (which was prt of the brief from DW) Back to it now then shall we?? Nate
-
That's awesome! I really like the idea of hiding the cart inside the vehicle! I'm assuming the casing would travel to the unload platform via a different route so it can be put back into position? Sounds really good mate
-
Cool idea Joz. Can you please post a name or your ride? Thanks !
-
Wow. Not sure what the past has shown us but it does not sound very promising. It's a bit weird but I'm a little sad I didn't get to say goodbye to the Riverride if in fact it isn't reopening. The Riverride script was the compulsory audition piece when I started at WVTP and the day I received that script in Thr mail was the start of a very exciting time in my life. Ill miss Foghorn Leghorn and roadrunner. I'll miss the earth drill. I'll miss the multitude of different looking Bugs Bunnys. On a side note, the rumor around the park on why all the bugs bunnies looked different was because WVTP approached many companies about building the animatronics for the ride. Each company was asked to produce a "test bugs" and then WVTP would decide on the company to go with based on the bugs they produced. WVTP then did the sneaky and decided to use all the prototype Buge Bunnies in the attraction, and that's why they all looked a little different to each other. I'm excited about The future though. The River Ride takes up a lot of space. I hope WVTP have something big in store that will fill the void which will be left by the river ride. Or, it could just be maintenance.. When Shrek 4D closed the maintenance page said it was "closed permanently to make way for a new attraction" or something along those lines. So maybe I will get to say bye to the river ride.
-
Nice work Gazza! I knew you'd come up with something! The competition is not over just yet though! :-) I'm sure we will see some more submissions before the cut off. Nate
-
Hi Gazza, Have edited the rules I was in two minds about either eliminating or points, and do agree with your case. So points it is. Anyone can post over the 10 weeks, and we can have a leaderboard. Some of the challenges are based on RL situations, and some of the challenges are completly out there. The challenges are fairly diverse and will allow a lot of creativity from different fields to come into play.

Ok, here is the week one challenge. Week One Open to everyone to submit an attraction! Please limit response to one post. The Eureka Mine Ride at Dreamworld has sat dormant for almost 4 years now, and Dreamworld has finally decided to use the space! Here's your challenge. Design a new attraction for the current space where the Eureka Mine Ride sits. Your attraction can be anything you like but cannot be an existing attraction at Dreamworld and must fit into the footprint. You cannot reopen the mine ride. Dreamworld are going all out with this attraction, and as such, it will be fully themed. Your attraction must have A name A detailed description of the attraction You may include photos if you wish Deadline for submissions is next Saturday the 6th of November at midnight. Anyone can compete, just limit your submission to one post. Forum members will then vote, and points will Be awarded. The rules are subject to change. Good Luck!
