  1. I thought Razza was talking about Andrew getting banned from Dreamworld after his foray into Eureka. I still haven't worked out how they managed to track him down.  Did he have a season pass or did they have his photo in every booth with a sign that said 'do not admit this person.'

I was though lol now I'm imagining those pictures as wanted posters in the goldrush area lol

  2. Way to comprehend English.

Nowhere in that does it say "you're fat", or make any reference to you being fat. It simply states that unless you were as wide as the car, you would slide around.

To add to your new post, the mine cart had/has (depending on how you want to classify the ride) smaller cars that didn't include the level of theming you see on the Scooby cars. Sure you could go and replace all the cars with smaller ones and take away the theming of the ride if you really want but that's pretty stupid. Not to mention that on the last couple of drops especially you can get lifted out of the seat if the restraint isn't snug, and that makes the worst part about the seats the stupid leg separator which becomes a "ball-smasher" if you're not ready.

Sorry I guess I misread what you were saying. I thought you were saying that only fat people as wide as the cars wouldn't slide around. If you meant what you said then I apologize for jumping to conclusions.

I'm just sad because Scooby is such an amazing ride and they could have done something different with their cars to ensure more people could go on it. Like separate lap bar restraints. Anything. So many are unable to go on it because of just how tiny the restraints are.

Maybe one day ride cars will improve in technology cause goodness knows I wish I could go on more rides. But being on medications that make you gain weight makes it hard

  3. Who insulted who? And how?

Are you referring to Rappa's completely apt description of the guy as a Moron?

Push - i've got news for you - that wasn't an insult. That was a perfect description of an idiot who wanders into a ride envelope, out of bounds, risks his life to take photos, brags about it, then gets all butt hurt when we don't react with absolute awe, and instead shout him down as the moron he is... so he continues to defend himself despite nobody supporting his position.

Believe me - theres enough people on these boards that know who Rappa is - so there's no anonymity there.

I'm with Brad on this one. Too many 'do-gooders' who stand up for others who don't need (and didn't ask) to be stood up for. The guy is PROUD he got banned from DW. He Brags... and continues to post the pictures he got shot down for... I don't think he wanted you to stick your brown nose into it...

YOU feel upset about it, and YOU have felt wronged often enough on these boards even when stuff has had NOTHING TO DO WITH YOU.

Stop trying to be everyone else's knight in shining armor. It doesn't suit you. By all means stand up for yourself... but your whiny-assed baby approach to defending others doesn't earn you a shred of dignity... and each time you complain about the actions of others (especially those who are the moderators and leaders - who make the rules here) you just encourage more of us to laugh at you.

Wow. I didn't know he actually ended up getting banned

  4. It's a wild mouse. What do you expect them to do for cars? One seat in the front and 1 in the back and unless you're as wide as the car you just slide from side to side?

Lmao as wide as the car hahaha. Rude much. And FYI the mine train coaster was a wild mouse coaster and it only had seat belts. Which Scooby could have easily implemented.

Is there really a need for you to be a rude asshole just because as many people as possible want to experience a ride

  5. I rode cyclone in 2008 and got the worst ear ache from my ears bashing around back THEN. suffice it to say I wasn't too disappointed when I found out it was going to be down for maintenance in November which is when me and my boyfriend are planning our trip

The only thing that bugs me is that they still haven't made it clear to visitors that they can use the stairwell as a shortcut up to the station. Seems a lot of tourists still get suckered into taking the long route ???

Oh god that horrible winding route. NEVER again lol

But then you have rides like Arrow's Tennessee Tornado, which is said to be B&M smooth (@djrappa?), or Vekoma's Rock 'n' Roller Coaster at WDW which I found to be remarkably smooth.

The Rock n rollercoaster is my favorite coaster I have ever been on. I could go on that thing all day if the que didn't go forever

  6. I second the weight issues specifically with both the Claw & Scooby Doo, have also witnessed them myself. The latter I saw someone of larger size turned down for a couple of weeks ago because staff couldn't get the lap bar to lock in.

The trains for Scooby are pretty tiny.

The trains for Scooby are ridiculously tiny for the kind of ride that it is and how recently new it is. You would have thought they would have put bigger carriages in. I will be sad because when I was 20kg lighter the bars only JUST locked in so i already know I probably won't fit this time around. Though it will obviously be my boyfriends first time to the gold coast so I will probably send him around on his own even if I can't go with him because I won't want him to miss out.

My fat is mostly all in my tummy. I'm very lucky in the fact that I'm very flubbery for lack of a better word lol so I have more chances than most my size because my fat can suck in. Scooby Doo coaster was the only ride I had trouble with on my last visit back in 2008

  7. There's a great comparison here too....

every once in a while, Disney (Dreamworld) come out with a stupidly fantastic product that everyone raves about - Frozen (Insert whichever ride you like best - eg: wipeout, ToT, GD etc) is the most recent example.

But for all the blockbusters - like Frozen (claw) and the Little Mermaid (Thunder River), they also have their foul-ups - like Atlantis: The Lost Empire (MDMC) or The Rescuers Down Under (Buzzsaw).

They can't all be blockbusters. If every film Disney did was the multi-billion dollar success that is the Frozen franchise - they'd have to slow down production - to give each film the chance to earn it's full worth before moving onto the next one.

When Disney has a flop, it lets the film quietly fade into obscurity without much fanfare. They'll even halt work on a theme park attraction and go back to the drawing board if the film isn't as successful as they thought it would be (Atlantis \ Nemo Subs), but they don't withdraw the film for sale or viewing. They let it have it's run on video, and there will be some people out there who absolutely love it despite it being a bomb...

This is MDMC. MDMC is Atlantis: The Lost Empire. It's a bomb. It's so bad because it was hyped up by the company prior to it's debut, everyone got excited. everyone raved about how awesome it was going to be... and then premiere day comes around.... and its disappointing...

But all the merchandising and licensing agreements are in place and we've just spent millions... so we'll just put it out there, slowly try and recoup our costs, honour our licensing agreements and let it fade into the background slowly (or sometimes quickly).

Hey I love rescuers down under xd

  8. Look - as an adult - i find BRC cringeworthy - but i'm not the target market. I'm sure that any wiggles-aged kid who goes on that enjoys nothing more than singing along to their favourite tunes whilst being immersed in the 'wiggles house'... and i'm sure the parents of said kid will:

    1. love the smile it puts on the child's face - especially considering the littlies can't ride much else outside of that area
    2. probably buy the on ride photo of little johnny in the big red car - having a positive influence on revenue and per cap spend.
    3. enjoy the opportunity to sit down in air conditioned comfort for a few minutes during a wild day at dreamworld, whilst the rugrat is thoroughly occupied and entertained.

I like the news that their going with some additions, and some rethemes - the maze sounds like a nice little addition and a new ride will round out the area nicely. More opportunities for costumed characters too (in that the main focus for the wiggles are face characters who can't really be played by anyone else) so B1 and B2 can make some appearances as well...

I mean seriously - Dorothy, Wags and (to a degree) Captain Feathersword aren't really the characters the kids flock to (ok maybe Dorothy a little bit!)... but costumed characters are far easier to pull off.

Thanks to the mod who changed the topic heading - that was quick!~

I went on the big red car ride when I was there on my own with no kids. I enjoyed myself so much and had fun singing along with all the songs and looking at the wiggles memorabilia. I'm a funny adult. I love things for their sentimentality

  9. Hey everyone,

My boyfriend is planning on moving from new York to Australia this year. He gets a decision on august 30 on if he can come here.

I've been looking at planning a trip to the Gold Coast taking in the theme parks especially Dreamworld, Movieworld and Seaworld. I am a 5'8.5 140kg woman. The one thing I loved when I went to Disneyworld was that they were extremely plus sized friendly. I had no trouble with the rides except for Space Mountain and even then I fit no problem once on the ride. Are there any rides on the Gold Coast that I may not fit on or may have problems with?

Please don't make fun of me for my weight. I am just asking a genuine question and looking for some genuine answers.

    Thank you in advance

  10. Thanks for sharing Rachel. Great footage - interesting to see how the park looked and operated - pictures don't do it justice. You obviously have a lot of happy memories of the place. Good interview too.

    11 years closed. :(

When I posted these videos earlier today I watched them. I don't watch them a lot. Wonderland History converted them from VHS to DVD for me and my family in exchange for possible usage on the Wonderland History site. It hurts a LOT watching these videos. I actually started crying today watching the second video where my Dad is talking to the camera. It will be 20 years in July since my father killed himself and it still hurts because Wonderland was one piece of my life and memories with my father that we still had. We could go and stand at that spot we met up with him for visitations and know "we stood in this exact same spot". In a corny kind of way it was almost like he was there. I always watch these videos on his birthday and the anniversary of his death which is the 24th of July, 1995.

When I was watching these videos today I got so depressed and said out loud "it is still unbelievable to think that none of this is there anymore." Every time I get packages from where Wonderland used to be they are labelled Wonderland Drive and it takes me back there.

I must sound so stupid for getting so emotional over a theme park XD I'm glad you liked the videos :)

  11. Hi everyone.

My name is Rachel. I have been lurking around these forums for about a month or so and have enjoyed reading everything lol. Decided to sign up today to share my Wonderland memories.

First here is an interview I did with Wonderland History on why Wonderland meant so much to me:

    http://www.wonderlandhistory.net/blog/yourstories/rachel

But these are what I think the lovers of Wonderland will appreciate. Two full length family videos of Wonderland. One from 1989 and the other from 1992. I hope you enjoy them :)

Yes I am the two year old in the first video lol

Maybe the admins can help me embed links into the forum as I do not know how. Until then here are the videos :)
