The Wildmouse has low capacity also with only three cars on track (max) at once. I know you are more into the thrilling flat rides of Europe slammed into a car park 😉. They have pulled off a miracle.

Given how small the park makes this more impressive.

Look at the artwork. Tell we where Spider is. I can tell you it's partially dismantled right now.

Gotta make room for those new toys.

I know that it would go for this new expansion. But I didn't know it's gonna close tomorrow! When I was there just 2 weeks ago. I went on it and everything was fine!

It is well worth it. four HUSS rides removed over the years (Breakdance to be gone by tomorrow) all for this is perfect. Replace existing attractions with attractions that most will be able to ride. The park always was proud about the fact its height limits were never that far about of reach. The Ranger was the only one that needed over 130cm from memory (without cheating and using google).

I'm the first one to say losing those HUSS rides sucked. I was lucky enough to work them for a while. So my attachment was fairly different to most.

This ain't throwing out the park and putting it in the bin.

    This is called evolution.

HOLD ON? SPIDER IS GOING TOMMOROW??? Do you have more info??

Possibly. This is a very good step in the right direction. LPS has never been a boring park but it didn't have that headlining attraction. Depends if they keep expanding. By the way, even tough LPS has more coasters, Wonderland had, in my opinon, more thrilling coasters. Either way, this is grea for any Australian coaster fan as we can now ride a single rail coaster.

Why would LPM be stage 2 for this project? The Luna Parks are owned by different oweners and are completely unrelated.

There will be 9 new rides. The math is quite simple. There are 6 new kids rides ( including the kiddie coaster) , there is the family Boomerang coaster, the Zamperla Discovery pendulum ride and the Big Dipper. Thats 9 rides. As I stated to you before, please go and read ALL the comments that have been posted. There has been a complete rundown on what rides are likely to go from Gazza. Numerous other posts answer the majority of the questions you have been asking or seeking.Slow down and read and absorb what has been posted before....

I'm trying to say that LPM needs a makeover like this! I think everyone can agree on this.

And also it's a bit difficult to read them all at this time. It's very hard for me to slow down with something like this. It's just impossible to calm down, even when I'm trying to calm down!

I noticed the article also mentioned upgrades to existing rides - do we know anything on this? (I’m guessing minor paint jobs if anything but just out of curiosity haha)

Yes. They will be redoing the fascade to Dodgem City. Instead of the current neon sign for Tumble Bug. They will be painting it to an Arabian theme. Matching with the Big Dipper entrance.

And another question. Wonderland had 3 roller coasters and LPS will now have 4 roller coasters and over 20 rides. Is there now a decent park in Sydney now in your opinion?

Okay. So I've had some time to take in all this news, and I think I'm ready to give my thoughts in a calm and civilised manner. Ahem..... OHMYGODTHISISTHEBESTTHINGEVERTHATSEVERHAPPENEDTOTHEPARKINWAYOVERADECADEANDALLMYDREAMSANDFANTASISESANDVISIONSABOUTTHEFUTUREOFTHEPARKARECOMINGTRUEITSTOOEXCITINGICANTSTANDITAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So naturally I'm very pleased with today's news. I was already very happy after the 2020 Transport Heritage Grants had been announced (the Sydney Tramway Museum, which I volunteer at, got two grants; one to finish off restoration on our 1898 D class tram, the other to digitise our archives), but this is just the icing on top! And just a side note that no one's mentioned yet, the concept art has the facade for the dodgems redone so that it fits the Arabian look of Big Dipper building. This just makes me even more thrilled as this is exactly what I wanted to see happen to the dodgems entrance for the last 3 years. Next year's gonna be great!

Hold on... You volunteer at the Sydney Tramway Musuem? That's amazing! Thank you for all that you, and your mates at the Tramway Museum for your hard work and all that you do for the trams! Would you happen to know David (who's another volunteer at the Tramway Museum)? If you do, tell him that I say hi and that I will forever be grateful for his help when I was extremely upset one time there. From Matthew.

Now for everyone else. In the images that we've seen so far. I can already identify some rides that will come to Luna Park as part of 'Luna Land'

First is the world class roller coaster that will be named 'Big Dipper'. After the other 2 Big Dipper's that have been in that area. The ride will have a maximum speed of 72kmh. 2 inversions. And 3 moments of Airtime. 7 people can get on at a time as well. It will also be breaking numerous records as well.

Next, there is a shuttle coaster which they are calling an "anchor coaster" .It will have a helix, and that's it. Good enough for me, NEXT!

There is also a junior coaster that seems to be in a similar alignment to Silly Serpent in LPM  as well. It seems like it will be themed to an aquatic theme.

And there is a mini drop tower like in LPM. I hope LPM is stage 2 for this project. They need something like this.

Also there will a ride called 'Shockwave'. It will be a Gyro Swing ride which will be coloured in a blueish green. DON'T CRY ABOUT IT FOR GOODNESS SAKES!

Oh, there's also gonna be a mini ferries wheel as well. I don't think it will be whirly wheel as it looks very different to the current one. It seems like it will be themed to an aquatic theme too.

There's also a balloon ride, similar to the one that used to be at Wonderland. But a teeny bit smaller than last time.

And there seems to be another ride below the green shelter as well. I can see some reds, yellows, and blues which could indicate that a ride could be there.

And we all live in a yellow submarine could be a new ride as well? I know it's unlikely, but it's 2020. We can never know!

Luna Park has said that there will be 6 children's rides at the park. The 3 new roller coasters. And the new thrill ride. That's 10.... Where's the math's gone? And I've only been able to find 3 or 4, maybe even 5 out of the 6 new rides. If anybody has more information about this. Please let us know!

    What will the residents think?

I don't think is as visually invasive as the 1995 Big Dipper. And I don't think they're going to have flashing lights on there. But noise will be a certain problem. But it's going to go ahead anyways, no matter what the neighbors think. The NSW Government seems they really want to make sure this happens and stays here. This will certainly be the end of the Spider, at least in Luna Park. I'll be making a video about this topic and gonna try to head on over to Luna Park soon.

Not blowing my own trumpet fellas but yous pretty much recycled what I said.

Rockin Tug has apparently been purchased by the park. From my understanding is it therefor not a temporary attraction at all.  Companys but and trade things all the time. So it is not a major shock if Joyland's sold (or traded) a ride for Rockin Tug.

When I was there on Saturday and Rockin Tug was being operated by Luna Park staff there. This could be a sign that it's now owned by Luna Park. I'll ask someone when I next go there.

Joylands has (and will) receive two rides from the park, one of which will for certain return to the travelling circuit. So yeah wouldn’t be suprised if Rockin Tug was included in that transaction.

On Saturday. There was Power Surge where Moon Ranger used to be. And Roundup where Mystery Manor used to be. But this Rockin Tug is different to the one from Joylands. Joylands has one with a knock off version of The Little Mermaid. While the one at Luna Park has a Zamperla logo and has Popyeye on it.

Cannot confirm personally but I have been advised that a rocking tug ride is currently in the park. This might be a new permanent addition.

Some possibly bad news, however. Ride removals might not be over yet. I predicted months ago about three rides leaving the park. Two have left the park already. One remains.

Rockin Tug is currently being borrowed from Joyrides. It is only a TEMPORAILY RIDE! There's been 2 Rockin Tugs since the reopening of Luna Park. 1 between July to September. Then another from September to today. For Luna Park to all of a sudden go "Joylands, were never gonna give your ride back. We love your little copyright free little mermaid! Goodbye!" would be highly unethical.

That might be the replacement for one of the kiddie flat rides that was removed a few months back (next to the u-drive).
Spider is running on borrowed time and will most likely be that ride that gets axed. This will complete a process that was supposed to be finished years ago.

When the next time that Spider goes under maintenance. That will most likely be the end of the Spider. Luckily I've been able to get on Spider now.

Magic Castle was replaced by Crazy Cars (from Joylands once again) around the end of 2019.

    Does anybody need more information???

Wet N Wild could also update the location map for Mammoth Falls while they are fixing the park.

Pretty sure that picture is of Mach 5

Web address in pic for proof. Hidden bookmarks as they are all work related stuff.

    image.thumb.png.4da11c9afcb702826ab8727197d07e64.png

Yes, that is Mach 5. I checked the same page. But when you actually look at the map. Mach 5 isn't there. It's clearly Wet'N'Wild just pretending that Mach 5 is Mammoth Falls, because they look so similar.

In case if anybody doesn't know (there will be someone). The red circle is where Mach 5 used to be. And can no longer be seen on the map. And Mammoth Falls is the one on the blue circle.

Didn't the Big Dipper (a.k.a. Hot Wheel Sidewinder) move because it was too noisy/too close to expensive apartments nearby? Much as Luna Park needs a new roller coaster, wouldn't it just end up causing the same issues with noise complaints again?

Luna Park Sydney closed down in 1996 due to poor attendance. This was because of the restrictions of the operating hours on the Big Dipper and the Park. The residents in the apartments above Luna Park sued the park due to noise, height, and light problems. The courts ruled in favour of the residents. And so restrictions were put in to reduce the noise and lighting at the park. Sydney had quite adverse weather for the park. And also residents (especially from Western Sydney) would just go to Wonderland instead. Nowadays, any ride at the park must not exceed 40 meters in the park, no strobe lighting is allowed, a development application must be made before a ride can be built, and Luna Park does not now build big roller coasters in the park. Something like a Eurofighter Coaster could be put in, but that’s as far as they can go. And even that would be a struggle!

With all the space they're making at Luna Park Sydney with these rides being gone maybe they'll install a roller coaster, hey, I've got an idea maybe they should buy Hot Wheels Sidewinder from Dreamworld! 🤪

(Before anyone tries to state the obvious, this post is a joke)

Goodbye Luna Park! Like making mistakes again? Here comes a new Trade Center for Sydney!

But even if you were serious, even with this new space. There is just not enough room to put it in. And also it would still hurt (I don’t know if it hurts. Everyone tells me it is). And also there just isn’t enough money that Luna Park has right now to get the ride here either. And Sidewinder only has a few years left. Even if the new renovation that has happened. If Dreamworld didn’t do the renovation. They would of most likely sent it overseas, or scraped it. And even worse, you would be repeating mistakes again!

(Just a joke, please don’t hurt me)

You are not allowed to speculate. If the park has said nothing, you must not assume anything at all and just accept being a mushroom - it is inevitable!

I'm trying to say that people have a opportunity now to ask, what is next? People are allowed to think about what rides they want to see at Luna Park. It might be even helpful so that the management at Luna Park know what people would like to see.

I believe at this time. It is not worth it to buy new rides at this time due to the pandemic. I think these rides have gone is because it is too expensive to keep maintaining them for any longer. I think that if the Spider breaks down again, it will be the end of the Spider. And that would be the end of the HUSS era for Luna Park Sydney.
After the pandemic (especially when big venues happen more often) (and no COVID Safe regulations). Then we should start getting permeant rides in. I think people would love most is a permeant version of Pirates Revenge and Mystery Manor. And a roller coaster of some sort.

I would like to see for the first ride (to replace the Moon Ranger) to be a Mega Disk'O themed and named to the old Whirler Ride. And then there are numerous options after that. Maybe a Eurofighter? I don't know, there are too many options.

Well this sucks, there is only a couple of rides now left at luna park. they will seriously need to invest in a few rides that appeal to teens and adults and not just children

That's what they will do. But we don't know what rides it will be. This means speculation time!

But you also have to recognize that most people who go to a theme park aren't thrill junkies going bananas. There needs to be enough rides for thrill seekers and the squeamish (me) at the same time. And if me (as a adolescent) is/was too scared to go on Hair Raiser, Wild Mouse, and Moon Ranger. They've done a good job.

  15. Please don't start a fight. Is it because your back on now @AlexB? I don't want to have a sneak peak of Monday's episode of The Real Housemates of Theme Park Enthusiasts! PLEASE, NO SPOLIERS FOR GOODNESS SAKES!

Sorry - I've been travelling through the outback for the past two weeks. Rest assured we will resume our regularly scheduled programming on Monday.

I didn’t realise the Moon Ranger had been removed until just then!!  I was only checking because I’m going to Halloscream this Saturday.

Sad to see such an iconic ride leave :(   Happy it was replaced temporarily by the Power Surge!  Excited to see if they will invest in a new permanent ride to take its place in the future tho.

What ride do you think should replace Moon Ranger?
