  1. this might be an obvious answer like its the off season and it doesnt get busy, but im just curious to know why parks like cedar point only open for about 7 months of the year?
  2. Heading up to Queensland again for a holiday, and going to Dreamworld on either the 12th or 13th of november, since this is a weekday and QLD school holidays is over, would Q4U be necessary? Any ideas would be much appreciated thanks.
  3. Dont miss the shows there, they have a great show out on the water, and very good broadway show in the American Waterfront land, i wouldnt miss that, and it is in english by the way! Hopefully you arent going in the holiday period, it will be packed, but its a fantastic park. It seems you have plenty of time to get around and enjoy every aspect of the park. I was at the parks about the same time you are going a few years back, and it will be quite cold, lm guessing you are already aware of that, but if it rains, it can really take the enjoyment out of the day.
  4. i just thought id put this out there, to see people's opinions and preferences on Tokyo's and California's sister parks. So, California adventure vs DisneySea, which one do you prefer and why?
  5. i am a bigger bloke, and i can honestly say i do weigh more than this women does. I was fine on every ride, superman's restraints were tight, but not an issue, with the whole strap has to be past that yellow line, scooby wasnt either, but the lap bars were down tight, but thats what you want them to be! Nothing else was a problem, and this is coming from a heavy weight like me mate!! Once again for the wetnwild rides, and the weight restrictions, me and my brother, were easily over, (probably thanks to me!!) and we never had an issue. Same with dreamworld, i had no problems there, Mick Doohans took a while, cause my thighs are not small cause of all the years of soccer i have played and cause of my weight. Other than that, dreamworld rides are fine. Hope this helps champ!
  6. i was only at Luna Park a few months back and i did know the tango train was down and when i saw it, only the track was left, and the seats were taken out, but that was around may, and i only just noticed LPS website saying its still down for maintainence. So after all these months, what could they be doing to it? If anyone has an idea, id like to hear it, thanks!
  7. i recall last time i was at dreamworld about 2 years ago, wipeout stopped mid ride, it was just after i got off it too. i dont know what they can do with it though!
  8. Your most probably going to be visiting the parks in school holiday times, so the parks are going to be packed. In my opinion, you must visit movieworld. It is the best park on the Gold Coast. Wet n Wild is also a great park. For the other 2, its just a matter of preference. If you'd prefer to see wild life and animal shows, and minimal rides go Seaworld, or if you want thrills visit Dreamworld. id go Dreamworld over Seaworld if it were me. Hope that helps you with your decision on picking the parks.
  9. i visited luna park sydney today (16/4/09) and had a great day. The park was quite busy, had a few long waits for some rides. The Go Wild pass for only $30 seem to attract many people. A great alternative for the expensive easter show! Heres my final lowdown: Highs: -Great carnival atmosphere -I found the Spider, Ranger and Wild Mouse very good rides. -$30 all day pass is a bargain Lows: -Staff, for the tumble bug in particular, are very slow at loading. Something i cant understand is the worker loading each car separately, locking down the restraint, which takes time, and then again, that same worker and the other worker on it, both checking the restraints again. Is checking each restraint 3 times necessary? -low capacity on Wild mouse. Cant be helped, as i dont think they have that many trains. So ye, my day was good. and, the wild mouse did happen to break down today. A train got stuck just after the first bend off the chain lift. The did get it moving, some technician climbed up and fixed it all. Any thoughts or comments, id love to hear them!
  10. I dont disagree with you about the demon being quite crap, but it did have a quality woodie in the bush beast. The reason for not building any rides was because of them making no money, and selling it to that sunway company and they invested nothing into it, which showed it was going to go no where. Although you cant say the park was crap. IMO it did have some fairly decent rides in Bountys revenge, bush beast, maybe space probe and a rapid ride. i could honestly say, i would have a better day at wonderland than at dreamworld.
  11. i dont think theres much you could really add to it, or even a pre show. its a space shot ride, nothing else. although the nice simple theming to it, is good enough IMO. Compared to Disneys CA, with the Maliboomer, now thats a ride which needs to be fixed. Sorry for going off topic
  12. Everyone hears rumors about a Disneyland being built in Australia. i honestly think its a great idea, as i love Disney parks and have visited many in my life. But i really dont think it would work down here. Here are my reasons: 1) Why would anyone travel all the way to Australia, to visit our disneyland, when they can travel, to their own disney parks. Americans wouldnt want to travel out here to visit disneyland, when they could visit their own top notch disney parks, with less than half the travelling time and much cheaper. Same with Japanese and their fantastic parks, and hong Kong(Never been to it, but looks abit of a flop IMO) 2) Our population is too small. Consider Disneyland in California, there population is around 30 million, with constant visitors and we are 20 million as a country. 3) Where to put it? I love the Gold Coast, not just because of the theme parks, but the weather and resorts are great, and theirs also alot to do, and its close for people to go. This attracts visitors, domestically and internationally. i could b wrong but brisbane/gold coast/Cairns etc and Sydney would the be the most popular places for tourists to visit. Everyone wants a theme park in Sydney, but look at Wonderland, that was running at a loss and that was a fantastic theme park! Luna park is opening and closing. The Gold coast would be a good place to have it, but then more competition on "our own" theme parks. These are just my ideas and opinions. i would love to hear what people think. But think about where all these disney parks are now, America x2, Japan, Hong Kong and Paris. Dont you think they would of considered one in Australia many times already? Cheers JD
  13. If Luna Park could afford a new coaster, and have a small amount of area, i say check out Steel hawg, a good thrill but its high, so not that much room. iv never been on it, but from the looks of it, its a top coaster.
  14. Sucked in to those locals. The park has been there long before they were, and long before those buildings were built. and why dont they just move, if they can afford to live there right near sydney harbour, they could afford to live sumwhere else than live looking at a theme park. i have always been against these people whinging about the noise of the park, what do they expect, people scream, rides r loud, they should just learn to live with it or piss off!!
  15. Thanks for ur feedback mate, makes alot more sense why they keep it open in the rain. you made some good points. abit off topic, but from the above quote, it seems u dunt enjoy lethal weapon?
  16. I have been on many roller coasters in my time, but not usually in the rain. On sunday 25th of Jan, while at movieworld, it started to rain, i expected superman to close, which it was...., while lethal weapon remained open. in my opinion, i dunt believe rides like this should b running in the rain. wet tracks, wet wheels, wet parts, at high speeds? They tell u to slow down in a car if its raining. This also happened to me while in tokyo disneysea on the raging spirits rollercoaster. rain didnt seem to tempt them to close the ride. i still rode lethal weapon that day, but i thought to myself, should it really b operating. any1 else got any thoughts on this? not just about lethal weapon, but any ride running in the rain.
  17. I agree with u about wild west falls ride, compared to splash mountain, it really lacks excitment. i dunt think disneyland could add many more rides, maybe more for CA, which they r expanding anyway with new lands. i havent been back to CA for awhile so i aint sure the amount of room they have left, i think there building on an old car park, maybe another rollercoaster? CA a more thrill ride/adult park. thats just my opinion.
  18. They really need to theme this ride better, like they have done with the batwing spaceshot. Give it some paint, mickey faces at the top, strip the whole cartoony **** on the sides of it, and design it differently, thats all it needs, if not get rid of it! lol.
  19. i totally agree with u mate, not very disney like that ride, more of a carnival ride, more suited to a Luna park in my opinion!
  20. thats a great point. The drops r fantastic in the ride, and has great theming, along with great electronics in their characters in the ride. something wild west falls could improve on, instead of a screen!
  21. Just wondering what your favourite thrill rides are at the LA disney parks. i know some of them arent real "thrill" rides, but they are for Disneyland. My favourite would have to be California Screamin, best rollercoaster ever! its long, fast and good track. everything u want in a coaster. i also love splash mountain, as its always been my favourite ride at any disneyland.
  22. had to be Bounty's Revenge!! i loved that ride, and a great way to start a day at wonderland, when it was right near the entrance. Maybe one day, ill go to sunway lagoon in malaysia just to ride that beauty again!!!
  23. i returned to movieworld on sunday(had a great day too btw) since my last visit about a year ago, and noticed the huge covers over the main street in movieworld. honestly, i really dont like them, although when it started to rain heavily i did like it, lol. but i found it made the street and the park feel so much smaller, what does every1 else think?
  24. Sorry for never replying to this thread, but i have been up at the gold coast for the past week, and havent been on a computer. its good to see some discussion comparing the parks.
  25. In relation to the Favourite theme park 2009 poll, i noticed many people having dreamworld very low on their lists as their favourite theme parks. although this is just my opinion, i wouldnt rate seaworld anywhere in the top 5. The lack of rides and the quality of them, disappoint me. although i havent been on the new "Jet rescue" rollercoaster, i cant see seaworld beating dreamworld. U cant tell me, that the pirate ship or the extremly bad flume ride at seaworld, is better than the claw or tower of terror? This is only 1 persons opinion, and by the look of that thread, i am in a minority. So can i ask you all, what have u got against dreamworld, to be put lower than seaworld?
