  1. As far as the official Movie World cast goes, there's no real change to the lineup from last year's event- nobody was missing, and they even brought back Ivy after skipping her last year. Not to mention they now have Cyborg and a newly redesigned Harley Quinn. There are definitely less guests dressing up than previous years- though that could easily be explained by the lack of a competition. A little sad that money's the only motivator for some. But oh well. Having gone two days now, I must say it has been enjoyable, but there is an element of stagnation beginning to set in. Maybe some new street shows would be good! The Good Citizen Award show is a good example of what to aim for.
  2. The whole competition itself was quite a wreck in all honesty. Comparing it to something such as Supanova Comic Con's cosplay competitions (which has a registration setup with a cut-off time, categories and numerous other structures), even for the 'professional' cosplayers, it was very much a hurricane of an attempt- Especially with $1000 in play each night. I could go on for ages about how they could improve the competition, but the fact of the matter is, despite that footnote in the email, there's been no other mention of the contest returning this year. If it does, I know there's a long list of people, cosplayers and parents alike, who would like to see some serious improvement to their criteria and selection processes.
  3. It definitely sounds like a lot of fun! I did notice that they've made no mention of the Costume Contest from last year's events- or the 'Come Dressed Up' component either for that matter. I wonder if they've scrapped it for this year...
  4. Curious. It seems like they're holding it a bit later than usual this year. The escape room could prove interesting, depending on how difficult they make it. Though somehow I feel it might be more tailored for the younger crowds. But I suppose we shall see. By chance, would it be possible to grab a link to those ticket pages?
  5. As one of the people in costume for this event (The GCPD officer, actually), I gotta say that the contest side of the event was a bit skewered in its selection process. There wasn't much of a 'Entry Form' frankly, the sort of just plucked you out of the crowd if you were standing near enough. As for the Adults going up against the Kids, well... its an all-ages event, and when they throw everyone into the same category, its gonna get messed up real quick. Perfect example is how on the second-last day of the event, a Lego Batman showed up in the last five minutes of the day as everyone was lining up for the competition selections, and took home $1000 for being in the park for five damn minutes, when plenty of others had been in-park, working the crowds all day. I'm honestly hoping that the next event has a bit more organisation in this regard. As for the guy who took home the first night's prize as the Arkham Knight, I know him personally also- really nice guy, and completely surprised they picked him- honestly we all were expecting them to go for the kids over us, we were just there for fun and photos. But hey, it happens... Regarding my GCPD uniform though, I assure you, I do have more costumes than just that one- though it is my flagship costume that I am most proud of for it's screen accuracy to The Dark Knight movie, hence I wear it quite often. As for wearing it for the majority of the event, that mainly falls to the fact that it is currently the only DC themed costume I own (thats due to change soon, gonna throw together Rick Flagg). I don't have many costumes, but the ones I have I make sure they're done damn well, and I take pride in all of them.
