I know you shouldn't really compare them

Yep, good place to start, and finish.

Imagine if splash moutain closed for 2 months every year...

People would be annoyed, but so they should be when you are talking about a park makings millions of dollars a week owned and run by a company worth tens of billions, with access to basically unlimited funds, a population pool of over 250m people to hire skilled workers from, and with the manufacturers of your rides not a 20+ hour flight away, or potentially months away when parts are needed

I rode on the weekend and the tray passed around to us included sunglasses and phones. they also had a storage area for the refillable sippers.

Well that’s changed since Christmas Eve on my last visit there where it was “this tub is for glasses only” spiel they’ve given for years. The storage area for sippers is also new, but a welcome addition

I can make it beep obnoxiously loudly, and track it using NFC and GPS from my watch.

“Most” people don’t have that ability

They'll hope the cops catch them first.

    Classic macho throwaway line that.

And the kids know this. They don't swipe these sorts of devices anymore because everyone knows they're useless.

The “kids” are breaking into houses they know have cameras, to get the keys to steal high end luxury cars they know have gps tracking. They’re not doing it for resale value, they are doing it simply because they can and the law refuses to punish them. There is no fear of repercussion with these kids as the extent of their forward thinking ability is about 10 seconds.

    It works at Storm Coaster?

At storm coaster you are only allowed to leave prescription or sun glasses. You are unable to leave phones, hats etc. if you have those with you at boarding you must take them with you - it’s been that way every time I’ve ridden in the last decade

Nobody is going to try swiping someone else's phone when the guy who owns it is standing right behind them waiting to collect it - they won't get far.

Have you not seen or heard about the rampant petty juvenile crime occurring all over the coast currently ?? I 100% would not put it past some eshay chumps to snatch and grab a bunch of devices by being first off the ride and to the tub. That would be tame and less-brazen compared to half the shit they are doing

platform ops pass around a tray for phones and or items that fit in pockets - then leave it at the exit for when they disembark.

Not feasible to have everyone’s phone in the one tray, that’s potentially 20 odd phones and it’s just going to slow down Ops as people try to work out whose is whose at disembark time

If I was a millionaire the first thing I would build is a theme park in between Coffs  and Gold Coast. Probably around Byron because it’s got lots of traffic and it’s a tourist attraction. But I would rather one in yamba area but there’s not enough people there

That would be a sure fire way to not be a millionaire for much longer

firstly, Byron people are in uproar when an out of towner wants to open a fast food franchise. You want to open a theme park. You have zero chance of getting the land required zoned for what you require. If you found land, you’d be bankrupted by the drawn out development and approval process as thousands of locals object to the application.

If you by a miraculous chance managed to get the park built you’ve then got the issue of attendance with most of the locals against it, and the nearest population centre already serviced by established theme parks meaning unless you had something significantly better to offer, they wouldn’t make the trek down. Byron is exceedingly expensive and accommodation options limited which makes short stays expensive and less attractive than going to the GC.

I think they’ll def be keeping the dragon. It wouldn’t have a name as random as ‘serpent slayer’ it they weren’t trying to save a few bucks by keeping most of the ride’s more prominent theming.

A dragon is not a serpent. So keeping the dragon would make a mockery of the entire name/theme. On that thought, they’ll probably keep the dragon…

  7. Wow this has blown up while I’ve enjoyed my day at the beach. Getting evac’d out of the water due to a shark wasn’t in the plans, totally a 1 star review coming up for Burleigh Beach…

End of the day, if you want to go on more than 3 rides, even on the busiest day, you will.  Parks have family swap to assist with getting on some rides, if you have little kids you can comfortably get them on all of WB kids offerings in well under 2 hours (probably closer to 1) giving you, an adult, plenty of time to go on the big stuff. If you want to fart around to watch shows and take photos then that’s fine, and it’s what I personally would want from my day at a park, but it’s my choice to do that so I’m not going to whinge and moan that my choices cut down my ride opportunities.
