  1. the fact is all those roving performers, the mazes and the staffing for those, not to mention extra shows, staff etc - cost a lot of money. I'd have no drama with my $89.99 renewal not including HFN or White Xmas because i can see where that $30 or $40 is being spent - on a one off amazing night event.

  2. If I was in charge of Dreamworld, I would demolish the Studios and tell Big Brother to fuck off to Movie World.... I would specifically say "Like the Thunderbolt and Mine ride, it was an outdated attraction with high matenence costs" Then I'd spend $12 -15 million or so building a Kingda Ka replica out near Tiger Island(or wherever it would fit, with a track to it going through Tiger Island), and another $15 million to demolish AND rebuild the Mine Ride as a more modern take on the Mine Rollercoaster dark ride over a period of several years. I'd also shop around to see if 20th Century fox was interested in lending a few more "themes" to the park other than the AVP one. Star Wars would obviously be the one I'd be in the hunt for. If I did get it, Star Tours 2 would replace Big Brother.....

there is a better chance of a flying pig exhibit than DW getting a Kingda Ka replica. Also no chance in hell DW would be able to afford the Star Wars licence for an ongoing ride IMO.
  3. I'm looking forward to the day Dreamworld finally wake up and smell the roses that a replica of Kingda-Ka(or Top Thrill Dragster) would be perfect for their park.... Perhaps they could add an extra foot to the height and get the record for the biggest drop in the world.

    Adding a foot/metre

Adding a foot/metre of height will not make the Drop a better ride, nor make more visitors come to the park. Building a Kingda-Ka replica isn't feasible. Simple as that
  4. completely understand that in value for money terms, $109 is still a steal... My grievance is that MW/SW have added much better rides & attractions in the previous 12 months, have more parks to access, but yet offer a discount for their returning pass holders. I would happily pay $150-$200 for a pass, but I think given DW/WWW additions vs MW/SW they cant justify the increase

  5. its a joke really No loyalty discount for renewals, and passes have gone up from $99 last year (and it was a 13 month term). Meanwhile MW offers 3 parks for cheaper, 4 for the price of 3, and a renewal discount + new rides and attractions that are decent Wont be renewing DW/WWW thats for sure

  6. Nope, I would assume it is not going to return

To return, it would have had to have been there first! I'm almost certain the lucky few that have heard audio on the ride simply created it in their minds & tricked themselves into believing it was coming out of the speakers
  7. They are NOT going to open up two attractions to the same theme in less than a few months.... Marketing Nightmare! I'm saying why are you putting "JL" in your posts when that obviously isn't going to happen?

How is it a marketing nightmare?? Do you know anything about marketing?? GL and AA:ST opened within months of each other as well ... there was no marketing nightmare. What do you think? People might accidentally get in the queue to walk into the Roxy with DC/Justice League on the sign thinking it is actually the Justice League attraction at the front of the park that they just walked past on the way in?? I dont think the average MW attendee is that stupid. Given, it more than likely will not be anything DC related, but saying it couldn't be due to previous press releases about the BATR replacement & time frames and a 'marketing nightmare' make no sense at all. In fact when Journey opened, there wasnt even a marketing campaign to go with it. Changing the movie in the Roxy is not a major attraction (and god help us if the day ever comes that such a change is called a major anything) so i doubt they will make any real noise about it to be honest
  8. There has been a lot of talk about it - Steven Speilberg confirmed in January this year that he will be on board as a producer. He also said himself he would actually like a remake now that he has the money technology to do so. The first film was a huge success but was very far from the original books storyline.

Yeah no doubt Speilberg will be executive producer, as he was on JP2 and JP3 - basically his production house will be involved in development but other than a couple of trips to the set and his name in the credits i doubt Speilberg will have much to do with the final product (except maybe part of the 'idea' behind the movie). I hope they don't do a remake - regardless of technological advancements - you don't mess with certain movies - and JP is one of them. Just put the better technology into the new movie as either Part 4 of the previous trilogy or as a standalone movie. On the JP front - the original movie is currently being post-converted to 3D and will be released around June next year on the 20th Anniversary of release
  9. Given that Spielberg has confirmed Jurassic Park IV is in production, it would be wonderful if it inspired this new attraction. Also, I think all of the Jurassic park rides around the world are water rides, so it would be very fitting for Sea World to have something like the others. I like to dream, anyway :)

Jurassic Park IV is a loooong way from production. Spielberg has an 'idea' as he announced as ComicCon a year ago - but currently there is no script or screenplay, and no confirmed cast or director, let alone a start date. It'll be a miracle if we see it prior to 2015-16 - if it happens at all. As you said, you like to dream, and with the chances of a replica or new JP themed water ride being introduced in Australia pretty much a zero, thats what you'll have to keep doing!
  10. Fair enough, but why would anyone want another Super Hero themed attraction this year anyway? There are other movie themes/genres out there.

no doubt there are probably better franchises and movie rights they could utilise. I, for one, think that Justice League/DC Universe would be a theme that could transfer well and utilise a 4D experience - much better than say Journey. I'm not talking live action - i'm talking animated ie. Batman Year 1 etc. I also do see the majority of people don't want further DC based attractions given that is all we have had in years - so a different theme is probably more likely and will be better received.
  11. Cripes..... Dude... they ALREADY have a Justice League Ride slated for Spring opening in the old Batman Ride Building..... Have you been living under a rock?

And your point is ... What because there is a justice league ride slated for Spring at the BATR building they can't have a DC themed film at the Roxy??? Your either real stupid or like 8yrs old to not understand what I was saying
  12. At first I was thinking wow almost a month to change the reel on a projector?! Then I remembered the whole moving seat thing.

Plus pre-show room design. Very interested to see what theming it would be. Would be awesome to be a DC/Justice League theme or preferably old school looney tunes
  13. That definitely does look cool, but on a MUCH bigger scale than what Sea World could/would be doing. There looked to be 15+ animatronic dinosaurs and scenes in that video - given the space Seaworld has put aside for the exhibit, i'm thinking we're looking at no more than 5 at SW, with the focus being on the kids archaeological area etc

  14. So it opens in 2016 at USH? Didnt realise it was so far away ... that will be mark 5 years since the final movie came out - whilst im sure harry potter will be a long time crowd drawer, one would think the impact and interest will have significantly waivered by then with the majority of the youth/teen market that grew up with the book/movie releases moving into adulthood

  15. Just my take, but in terms of getting governments to fund theme parks, I reckon that's an incorrect use tof taxpayers dollars. The most a Govt should have to do is perhaps assist with local transport upgrades if a 3rd party decides to do a park. I lived in Vic till about 4 years ago, and there are far more pressing things for the state to be building and doing.

If a feasibility study was conducted that showed marked growth in tourism dollars and employment for the local community I wouldn't mind state/ fed govt contributing, in part. But I do agree there are a lot more pressing issues in the community right now. Maybe we can have a Disneyland tax. At least we could get some fun out of the money. In saying that on the gold coast now, the government won't even pay to upgrade the roads in order for the long awaiting Coomera Town Centre to open which would employ over 600 people and pour millions into the local economy annually - they want Westfields to pay for it. So chances of them financing in part a theme park are extremely unlikely
  16. In the past I have messaged or sent an enquiry to Disney about bringing a park down here. They replied with something along the lines of, 'Thank-you for you thoughts but we are investing in updating our current parks and putting them in higher priority than new projects.' Then about a year later, Disney announced Shanghai. I know the population of Asia is extremely higher than Australia but placing it within a couple of hours flying time between Hong Kong and Japan is unfair. I know Hong Kong is a rather small park, but I don't think disney have any consideration for Australia, other than a couple of attractions and a movie. As for Universal, you could always give it a shot and try to get in contact with them, Disney replied. If Disney and Universal both invested in parks here the visitor numbers would be quite strong. A lot of people long to go to Disneyland but cannot afford it, but placing one here would get millions of visitors. I know it is far but there is no reason that if they are placed close together, 10 million local and international visitors could come. If Disney got their planning right, Disneyland (Melbourne, Sydney or Gold Coast, the latter of which I doubt) could become one of their most successful parks. I know this is an extremely long comment but I am very passionate about the idea of a major park coming here. Even Six Flags would settle me down, well not really. Thanks Jacob :)

Unfortunately it's just not feasible for a park similar to Disneyland or Universal to open in Australia. That situation may change in another 20yrs, but it just wont happen. Disneyland has more visitors annually than Australia has international tourists. Hong Kong Disneyland is located within a few hours of over 1 billion people. To successfully open a park of Disney proportions, I'd say we'd need a population of at least 50 million people to sustain it, and a massive increase in international visitation
