I think because most artists who work on signage now would be doing it on computer where the screen is very close to your eyes so it would be easy to read and see the detail. So doing red on red with a white outline wouldn’t seem like a problem to read.  But when you get it printed and you have to look at it from a distance it becomes a massive problem.  I could be completely wrong, that’s just my guess.       I am sure Dean has better knowledge about the subject from one of his various jobs /s

Any graphic artist worth their salt will take into account the medium being used to print to.
I could have got a 1st year graphic art student on Fiverr to do a better job and for under $50

So it is open for night markets?

I got the impression it wasn't, and old mate was trying to be sarcastic with the "they can open..." comment.

    You are misreading the situation.

There is competition running to win tickets to a re-opening night in a few weeks, on a Friday night.
There had been no mention of it being open to the GP on the night - may just be VIP, media and comp winners

Turnstile man is spinning around in circles.

  3. Dreamworld was nice enough to post a video of them moving the globe purposefully to its current spot. They had the audio down too low but I think I heard someone say “we wanted to half obscure the globe behind the wall, and also half obscure the Steel Taipan launch, so then it will be a surprise for everyone when they see the whole thing again in a few months”.

also the effort to get it there when it could have much more easily been moved BOH. The literally move the thing down ocean parade, out the commercial delivery driveway, through the carpark, to get it to where it is. 🫣🥴

  4. The $189 offer is accessed by following the link in the original email.

i took up the $189 offer today but won’t be “activating it” until later this year when things start reopening.

I cancelled the membership debits after my next payment which will be the last at the original pricing meaning I have access thru to 30th June on my current pricing, and then I’ll be taking a holiday from VTP parks until I feel their is enough substance to warrant activating the 12 months - maybe even wait until white Christmas tbh

Maybe they could be better off contracting out maintenance - means they can scale up and down workers required and put in place KPI’s that keep the rides open.

pipe dream but just an idea.

A KPI needs to be something in the control of the person it applies to. Given our isolated nature as a country from ride manufacturers and difficulty or delays we’ve seen in getting parts shipped here - you can hardly KPI a workforce around the time it takes to fully maintain a ride or a fleet of rides.

also the minute you incentivise (whether that be through financial reward, or simply keeping your job) via a KPI you are opening up to the door for cutting corners, fudging books, half-assing jobs to tick off a KPI, and for something so rooted in safety and compliance - that just can’t happen

  6. I've cancelled our 3 memberships today.

I'll purchase 2 of their reduced one-pass offerings for my son and I, but wont be bothering for my partner who only attends 1-2 of the night events each year.

The 12 months doesn't start until your first visit - so safe to say i'll be waiting until later in the year to activate given the number of rides down at present.

I pay for a pass for my wife who hasn't been in years, just incase she wants to go.  I also know a few people who pay for the pass and never go.  All village are doing is forcing these types of people to cancel their passes for good.

Same. My partner has had a pass since day one of memberships - so what’s that 7 years now? She’s been to MW twice for day visits. Aside from that she’s been to FNs twice, WC twice and Carnivalle twice - 8 visits in 7 years. I’d have happily continued to pay for her on the off chance she wanted to come one day - theme parks are our son and my thing to do together - but zero chance that happens now

they stuffed up royally, and it’s indicative by the fact that every community group on fb has people complaining about this - so the negativity around the park and closures is being exasperated by putting more negativity into the media cycle and public domain.

Why do you feel entitled to pay $144 a year including fright night. Sure it sucks for those that are used to it but the park is not sustainable at that pass pricing.

    Why do I feel entitled?

no one would have an issue with a price increase, but a 100% price increase for less than you previously got isn’t justifiable in any way.

Good to see the news cover something like this

You mean good to see VTP paying 7 news for a fully planned and scripted segment on prime tv and socials. I’d call it a fluff piece to attempt to dim any negativity in the market surrounding off-peak ride closures and maintenance blow outs

It comes up every time I talk about the parks with relatives

Suggest you tell your relatives to move on. There’s been a global pandemic, a war and a worldwide economic shitshow since then
