  1. I can't believe this hasnt been posted but the best and cheapest place to buy tickets is from racq if you are a member. If you are from NSW or VIC and you are NRMA or RACV I am sure they must do similar deals but RACQ offer about $6-7 dollars of normal ticket prices and more for super pass and annual passes and thats's available all year round. That's about the cheapest you can get unless you get one of their adults at kids prices vouchers but they are usually for the off season and only available to local residents
  2. Went to the park on 21/1 - opening day for Mach V. Ill start off by admitting I didnt try the freefall slides as I was too chicken also the 1 hour wait time to get on also contributed so I would like to kick this forum off by reviewing the new Sidewinder slide and others can contribute with their reviews as well as reviews of the freefall slides. In my defence, I have tried the freefall slide at seaworld and that was nearly a bit much for me as I am not a fan of freefalling.. Anyways I reckon the middle freefall slide is half again as high as the seaworld one and trust me when you see it with your own eyes, its bloody high!!.. Secondly this is my first time to the park in 10 years and the last time I went, the only attractions were twister, super 8 aqua racer, white water mountain, double screamer and the wave pool so I preferred to spend my time queueing for the rides I have never been on. I said to myself if they had the freefall slides open during the dive in movie and the line got shorter I would try it but it closed.. Ok so now with the review. I am not much of a critic so I didnt take note of many details such as the colouring etc.. The things that stood out most for me are: 1) the queue for the ride was a bit unorganised but this may change since the rides are new and they may have plans to build more wait areas but yesterday there is only a small but sectioned off where you can wait to get the tube you ride on, and after that there is only open space and people were just forming a line wherever they felt like 2) The stairs on the way up are far too skinny. You are sharing the stairs with the people queueing for freefall and you have to get yourself up carrying the tube which is much longer than the ones used for terror canyon so negotiating around corners is a bit tricky but still I think some more thought could have been done here mind you I didnt find the system of the terror canyons much better forming a double line for each ride with each rider having a tube 3) They only had one half of the ride operating and only 2 of the 3 freefall slides but this didnt mean a long queue time which I was suprised about. Given that the rides are new I expected them to have the longest wait times but it only took 10 minutes to get on. Terror Canyon 1 was still the longest queue of the day. 4) Well theres not much to tell except the ride itself which I didnt think was all that extreme. You are just in a tube and basically theres a lot of spiralling. you dont go up the sides of the slides as much as you do in mammoth falls but you do get a fair but of speed up on the ride and thats kind of fun. The ride claims to be the longest or whatever but looking at it and riding it, it really doesnt feel that long. I will go on it again i guess it doesnt help I hadnt been on the other rides before so I preferred to spend my time going on those again but next time I go back I would ride on this one a couple of times but I still think terror canyon 1 is the best ride for me in the park Well in summary the ride isnt bad, certainly does help with capacity problems, but I think this sort of ride a tube ride has already been done to death in the park what with the speed coaster, terror canyon and mammoth falls. I do think the freefall slides fit in with the extreme theme and so will the black hole. I am looking forward to the tornado which is meant to be open by September but I think this will be more like a fun ride rather than a thrill ride. Well thats it, I did manage to speak to the lifeguard on the super 8 aqua racer and he said he has already been on the freefall slides and his comments were he reckons the outside ones are much worse because you get more airtime where youre praying you land back on the slide!! Please keep adding with your own reviews
  3. Hey thats cool djrappa, I'm heading there this Saturday anyway. I was just curious to find out more so I know what I had to look forward to It's a shame you cant post pics here because the official web site doesnt have much info
  4. It has just been posted on www.wetnwild.com.au that Sunrise will be airing from the park on Jan 20 for the weather report as well as doing a short piece about 'phase 1' of h2o zone and the presenter is going to test out one of the rides So our questions have been answered as to which phase is opening on Jan 21, the mach v and the black hole or just mach v only. Still the fact that they have scheduled this tv special tells me the opening date now seems pretty solid for Jan 21 so I shouldnt be disappointed off slippage when I am going there on the day that its supposed to open
  5. Hi, Wondering if anyone knows where I can get a hold of some decent pictures or more info about various slides in the park. This web site only has construction photos and bucaneer bay and the official site only has 3d images of a couple of rides. The reason I am asking is because I havent been to the park for more than 10 years and the last time I went there, all they had was: Speed Slide (I think this is now called supa 8) Twister The mountain with the four slides Double Screamer Wave Pool Anyways I am getting quite excited to try out all the rides I have never been on including Speedcoaster, Terron Canyon I / II, Whirlpool, Calypso Beach, Mammoth Falls but the wbesite doesnt have many pics of these or much info about the slide itself so I am curious about what these rides are can anyone please post where i can find pics / info or alternatively if you can supply details of what each ride is or your own review Thanks!!
  6. Finally!! From the official site EXTREME H20 ZONE- OPENING JANUARY 21! The countdown is on to the opening of the exciting new Extreme H2O Zone on Saturday 21 January at Wet’n’Wild Water World. The new water precinct will add a completely new dimension to Wet’n’Wild offering thrill seekers the ultimate aquatic rush on king-sized slides, never seen before in Australia! So excited this is the day I was going to attend last weekend before school holidays close and they still have dive in movies I will be there it better not rain Dont tell anyone about it maybe there wont be a lot of people!
  7. I rang WnW admin after XMAS and was told the opening was delayed until Jan 16 but unconfirmed. I rang back a week later only to be told maybe after the 20th. I emailed public relations and got told the 16th again but this date couldnt be guaranteed but even then this was only for phase 1 which is just for the opening of the Mach V attraction only, the black hole bit still not going to be finished.. I am so suprised I have not see any comments going around yet about this because I dont know about anyone else but I was planning to go there after boxing day for the new rides but I have delayed it now but I promised to take my daughter during the school holidays but I dont think they are going to have it open before the end of them. So I am going to have to take her regardless only to have the new slides probably open a week later (annoying) anyone else disappointed about all this or have any comments would love to hear or does anyone else know anymore details about confirmed opening?
  8. Yes Gazza you are right the half pipe one is at water world denver - the zoomerang although the one in your picture is from wild rapids in alberta, canada. Click Click And the other toilet bowl once is called the pro bowl and they are at many parks in the US here is one Click also check out the red dragon at raging waters california
  9. Hi Slick, the funnel one I was thinking about is not the tornado it is the one mentioned above by gazza the onle like a giant toilet bowl where you spin around and around and drop through the middle. the funnel is not on its side like the tornado its upright. Gazza.. The half pipe slide I was referring to is the one that you have pictured against your profile.. it looks like a skateboard half pipe but its a waterslide i saw it on cable special once on top water parks in the US.. What is it called and what park is it at?? Thanks
  10. I never got to go to Amazons which is still a sore point for me but I remember it had a waterslide with a dropoff where there is a drop between the end of the slide and the water.. Also it had a flying fox over the water didnt it?? These looked kind of fun and still WnW or other parks dont have them.. Any comments from people who have been on these? Please tell me what they were like Thanks
  11. since dreamworld has announced the park will have attractions never before seen in Aus I think two waterslides it should have are: The waterslide bowl - I dont know if this is the right name but it looks like a skatebaord half pipe but its a waterslide The Funnel - Again I dont know if this is the right terminology but its the funnel type one where you spin around and around and drop through a hole in the middle I think these two waterslides look pretty cool and definitely not in Aus yet. Also I was reading a post about if amazons was better than WnW and they were saying generally not but I wouldnt know I never got the chance to to Amazons but one i thing I remember is that amazons had a waterslide that when you got to the end there was a huge drop from the end of the slide into the water that looked kind of fun but to this day havent seen one around can anyone comment if this was a good feature of the slide to have the dropoff and maybe something like this should go into dreamworld?? since dreamworld has announced the park will have attractions never before seen in Aus I think two waterslides it should have are: The waterslide bowl - I dont know if this is the right name but it looks like a skatebaord half pipe but its a waterslide The Funnel - Again I dont know if this is the right terminology but its the funnel type one where you spin around and around and drop through a hole in the middle I think these two waterslides look pretty cool and definitely not in Aus yet. 12. 'Dont say one day, that day will never come, wash away your .... ??? and your ??? won't take it' 'Take a trip away from the every day take a dreamworld one day holiday' anyone else remember this commercial from the late 80's i think?
  13. Excuse the ignorance if this is already posted somewhere but I could not find any info here or on official site but I was still expecting that all the new rides for H20 Zone was supposed to open on Boxing Day but I rang the park and they are saying they wont open until around Jan 16?? Does anyone have any more info about this as I did not there was going to be a delay at all although I am not suprised because driving past there a couple of months ago there was not much happening.. Anyways if anyone has further info please post.. Wet n Wild must be kicking themselves they have not got it open for the busiest time of the year I wonder if anyone else is considering putting off their visit until they are open?? I was going to go next week but seems a bit stupid since all the new slides would open 2 weeks later..
  14. My work held their staff xmas party at D/World last week and it was the first time to go to Dreamworld for a couple of years (except when going to Big Brother evictions) Anyway it was the first time to experience the Claw and I have to say it rocks!! I reckon it could be the best ride of the park.. By the way i thought the Wipeout and the Reef Diver are starting to age a bit, both making a few noticeable old age noises - creaking etc.. maybe these wont be around much longer?? Also does anyone know if the Dodgem Car track has been moved or re-sized?? I was sure it used to be huge with about 15 cars or so.. Now it looks no bigger than the one you see at your local carnival?? Anyone have any ideas if it was downsized in the last couple of years?? Other than that cant wait to go on the claw again.. I read somewhere how smooth someone said it was and it is . except on the west swing (towards the pacific hwy) It felt as if the where the main arm is attached to the main structure that this section is flexible?? ie when i swung the east side its like a swing back and forth but when it swung towards the west you could feel the arm a little bit jiggly and you could hear it as well.. eg it wasnt swinging perfectly on its axis on the west swing it sort of vibrates a bit?? is this normal
  15. me too! i was driving past on the highway and saw it go over the top hat this morning i saw the tv ad for the ride and last night i got to see the new teaser trailer for the movie next year its all happening!!
  16. anyone have an idea what this tornado ride will be like?? ie the tornado ride at six flags hurricane harbour is actually referred to as a funnel on the website but its an upright funner where riders go from side to side on their way down.. whereas the black holeat raging waters is a top down funnel where rides go round and round in a spiral and then through a hole in the middle from the description, sounds more like the raging waters one?
  17. Hi All, was on my friends car website tonight he was at a car meet and has some photos.. Im yet to ask him but it looks like he was at movie world because check out the completed top hat of the escape in the background on some of the photos http://www.qldstreetcar.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=10793
  18. Was on the train on the way back from Brisbane on Saturday and there is an advertisement posted in the train Superman Escape S Logo Launching December 2005 got quite excited because its getting official now Also there was a larger advertisement on a billboard at one of the southside stations cant remember which one.. not long now..
  19. that doesnt make much sense why are over popular cities available in high res, Melbourne, Brisbane, and Overseas New York, LA, Chicago etc etc If they want access to satellite images of a particular city any jo-blo can request one from the relevant companies
  20. I would rather experience disneyland in the US because I can tell you.. if they put a disneyland in Aus it will be smaller and not as exciting as their US counterparts.. If you want disneyland go to the original.. The same happened with movie world I thought that was going to be big and great but universal studios in hollywood much better.. While it would be good to get a disneyland here, I will visit it.. But I wouldnt be happy until I go to the one in anaheim
  21. Adam, Shouldnt your posting be under 'Luna Park' ?? If anyone can find kenny koala on there as well please send through the co-ordinates..
  22. Hi all, I hope all that had the trouble downloading the app have now had success and are using GE.. Anyways I did some more research and found a great website which has direct links to places all around the world including the big theme parks in the US it is http://perljam.net/google-satellite-maps/ happy earthing!!
  23. Hi Adam and others that have posted kind words... Obviously as I now know this is not a new application, I was unaware of this as I have only just heard about it as they are advertising it everywhere.. and also I did not see the other posts.. Nice to see some good old aussie hospitality in here maybe if you had a life you wouldnt need to find the time to slam others in forums when they had made an honest mistake.. I am so sorry for the error and it will never happen again But as you can see there are still some other people who replied who hadnt heard of it so for them they are happy now because now they know about it Thanks too for the co-ordinates, actually I did some more research and found a fantastic site which has links to places all around the world and also has the theme parks check it out at http://perljam.net/google-satellite-maps/ Have fun and sorry to waste precious KB's on messages I will be careful next time
  24. Hi All, google have just released a great new application called google earth. You can start from space level and zoom right down to street level. Its pretty comprehensive, I thought it would cover mostly US but I live on the gold coast in a suburb only 4 years old and I found my house!! I found dreamworld for those that want to look at 27*51`58.73" S, 153*18'44.34" E Anyways, I was wondering for anyone who knows where to look, please post the co-ordinates of any US theme parks you can find. I would most love to see six flags magic mountain, great adventure and cedar point if anyone knows where they are. Thanks
