  1. Maybe DW could do something unique to the ride , such as putting it in a big shed and make it an indoor "in the dark" ride, It would make the ride less recognisable and DW could just rhapsodise about "Australias first pitch black coaster that goes back and fowards".It could have ample theming options, for example the obvious theme of a black hole. If they wanted to reduce the sheds height they could dig a big pit to hold the station and the bit between the loop and second hill. But i doubt if my idea would work, I have only seen Demon in the flesh once so i cant really remember the dimensions. It would probably need a very big shed. Of course, this is only if DW actually buys it.

  2. We are talking about Melbourne right? home to er....... three coasters???
Why should melbourne only having 3 coasters prevent the HS from writing an article about theme parks? Melbourne has no tropical resorts, alpine chalets, outback stations etc, but stories about these sort of destinations and many more have appeared in the travel section. I think the article was pretty much a random selection of parks because some of them probably just made it in on one or two interesting features, for example Veega Land got a mention because of a "5 headed serpent statue" and Parc Asterix got a metion because it is based on the Asterix comics. It only had a paragraph or so on each park and a fairly large portion of each description was taken up by park history or by an uninteresting feature of the park. the other half was a brief decription of the park along with a short list of some of the main rides' names. Your right Richard about Tivoli Gardens, That is supposed to be a great park and I think Daemon will enhace it even more.
  3. In todays (29-2-04) Herald Sun in the travel section there was a feature on 10 of the best fun parks in the world (Just a note- It is Melbournes Herald Sun I am talking about, not Sydneys Sun Herald. It just had a brief description of each park. The parks were: 1- Mystery Park (Switzerland) 2-Moominworld (Finland) 3-Knotts Berry Farm (USA) 4-Park Asterix (France) 5-Movie World (Australia) 6-Alton Towers (UK) 7-Veega Land (India) 8-Port Aventura (Spain) 9-Bakken (Denmark) 10-Disney World (USA) The article also had some nice pics including ones of Trace Du Hourra, Pelirious Plunge and Lethal Weapon. Good to see Disney, Port Aventura, Movie World, Alton Towers and KBF made it in, But where is Islands of Adventure, Cedar Point and Busch gardens?

  4. Well it would be my dream to open a theme park in Melbourne, But I really doubt I will ever do it for a number of reasons, but I can always dream. I doubt I will do engineering because I dont want to spend thousands on a degree that has a very slim chance of leading to ride design ect. I will probably get into Architecture.

  5. Yeah, sorry about that, I didnt bother putting them up again because people had stopped responding to the thread. If you could find them for me Richard it would be great, Im on a limited connection and posting all of them made my usage go over the allowed 300mb, and I dont want to get in trouble with dad again ;) .

  6. I guess it would be arond 40x10m, but it is portable because we alredy have portable log flumes and because it isnt buried in the ground but rather in a fiberglass channel, The ride rests on a metal framework that can be easily bolted together then dissasembled. The channel segments would also be bolted together and have a rubber waterproof seal. The ride also lacks a resivior around the drops, Instead plastic gaurds are installed like on spash canyon. One thing I really should have drawn in was a plastic liner around the entire ride to catch any leaks.

  7. I have an Idea for a possibe transportable ride, a portable river rapids ride, Of course I doubt it would do well here but over in europe it could work especialy in Germany where traveling fairs are popular and water restrictions may be less of a problem. The course is level all the way along, but two drops are incorpirated, but all that happens is the water keeps flowing under the drops but a lift is installed thet diverts the raft up ot of the channel up to the top, then down a chute back into the channel. The rides flow is maintained by a large water wheel under each drop, Other equpment is kept under the drop too, The layout has plenty of fountains, a whirlpool, overhead waterfall, rapids and waves (like on S.R.R.) The boats would hold 6 as usual but would have a set of Shopping trolley style wheels underneath so the boat can just roll down the drops. Here It is Also on the topic of river rapids, I think there should be rafts with outward facing seating or barge style rafts with seating all facing the same way.

  8. I dont think ill be able to go, Partly because my parents wouldnt let me go to Sydney alone, Partly because of money, Partly because of accommadation, Partly because our family just went up to sydney last year. Oh well, Hope you guys have fun, take lots of photos of everyone together at the meet. Wish I could go though and have a fun day out and meet other enthusiasts. Edit: nope, definitely cant come, Im working.

  9. Maybe someone who lives on the gold coast could just go to the shire offices and check the planning apllications, they should tell where the ride will be located. Also, does anyone know how long it takes to put a flat ride together, Im guessing a Month or so, But i may be wrong. That brings me to another question ,Why dont the parks open their new attractions on the first day of the Holidays, Instead of part way through, (Boxing Day) If the ride is there at the start of the holidays it means more visitors, and people planning a trip wouldnt have to hold off till after Christmas to ride the new ride. Oh and about the GD gondola being taken away for refurbishment, It would be cool if thye replaced it with a floorless stand up gondola, Another "new" attraction with a lower price than a whole new ride.

  10. I wonder what the old guy was expecting to get around SW? Walking is to be expected on a day out and people still complain. I wonder if the old guy complains if he goes to a shopping center, where there is no monorail etc. WL is pretty big, but they could have easily solved the problem by building a park transit system, and if that was too much trouble the could just have a bunch of those tractor train things like the one they already have. Those people who complained are party poopers and Id hate to know what would hapen if they visited disney or something, Would they ask for disney land to be smaller? As for the guy who complained about the drink, He would have been totaly screwed if it were a bottle. ;)

  11. Its going out the back where the land clearing is in my last dreamworld update I did on my site. It makes a perfect postcard for the gift shops. Swinging ride up over water with resturant in background and maybe train going past.
It would be cool swinging out over the water, but what happens when the paddlesteamer goes past? Maybe if it was placed so it swings parallel to the water. I cant wait for it to be built, I cant remember the last major flat we got.
  12. Are you going to rainbows end? I might be going to NZ at the end of this year. A couple of questions.. Do you need a passport coming from Australia? Do you need any special driving licences or is an Australian licence valid there? On the luge, how do they take the little car things back to the top?

  13. When BD was operating and the residents were complaning about the noise, I wonder why they didnt just put sound tubes around it , like on california screamin'. It could have given the ride a cool experience. Also, what was river caves? Im guessing an indoor boat ride but i may be wrong.
