  1. Iin Liam's review, edit MEGA DROP to 35 Meters not 37 and the caption for the Ferris wheel should be Durkin SkyMaster Wheel since you all know like nothing about carnival rides.
  2. Here are pictures of my Midway, and a new pic of my Rainbow with the re-painted face.... gotta keep up with O'Neills changes as you can see all rides are scale, people are scale, and trees are to scale, also down is a grass mat
  3. Wittingslow's Wild Mouse (As it's now called lol) is running fine, but im not sure if they have taken new precautions to make sure this doesnt happen again, but I can assure you it's running perfect. I rode it during the beginning of the year bout 15 times lol, so yeah they are alot more cautious now. There wasn't anything wrong with the ride itself, it was the hat that got caught in the tracks, and Wittingslow are taking strict action to wearing hats..... or any other loose article! Im definetly going to ride it again! P.S Tpa Shows Crazy Mouse debuted on the travelling circuit in 2003 at the Royal Easter Show. Wittingslow's Wild Mouse debuted decades ago and has been running forever at the Melbourne (it's main home) and Easter Show
  4. I do have them set up on my model table that I have, although not like a park, it's like a carnival, with the rides crammed in all cool places, and yeah I have some trees, and some people but no benches yet, I think after Free Fall Tower, ill invest in trees, people, and benches etc...
  5. No I don't work for a carnival company, im 16, but wouldnt mind getting a job with O'Neills when they operate at the show! the WildeWasser does indeed use real water, with 2 pumps! also the cheapest ive seen is: Breakdancer Breakdance No.1 Flipper all around the $100 and in Sydney the Wilde Wasser was over $300
  6. you shouldn't have gone for XSCREAM tuesday then......
  7. Glad you enjoyed rainbow, I heard they werent giving long rides.... oh well I got a good 5 mins outta each ride so im happy. Also I can tell you are not a carnival ride fan, cos your standards are wayy too high, also the dragon flight is actually called WAVE SWINGER, so yeh call it its original name! one is owned by March Amusements and the other that was in the kiddy area is owned by O'Neill Amusements. Im kinda glad we don't have the unlimited passes at the Melbourne Show, because channel 10 don't sponsor it. Also the Mad mouse you are talking bout, is infact running perfect, I last rode it in January down at Rye, which is the longest running show in Australia! (Wittingslow own this ride, and after the crash they got things cleared up, and it will be running at our show in september) Also Luna Park isn't very good, don't bother going until it's completely finished. And I don't know why Luna Park even bothered doing the Ranger up, it doesn't even work properly, the day I went it was down because of technical difficulties, and a technician told me it was the second day in a row it hadn't been working........The whole point in refurbishing is to get Huss out here to service the ride!
  8. Sadly to say TopSpin is one of the harder models to build, but this time round (this is my second topspin, after the first one came with so many borken pieces we just took it back) im more experienced, next model will be the FreeFall. models range from - $100 to $300 Also The WildeWasser Pirate Course is one of the harder ones too..
  9. Just completed my 6th Faller ride, the Huss Topspin:
  10. Mega Drop is one massive ride, racking on to 3 trailers, just like a few other rides here (rainbow is 3 also), I have seen racked pictures and it looks like it takes a while to set up, and I doubt very much that it will do a regional show, because it just isnt long enough and isnt worth the few days plus, water isnt the issue of sc's absence its because of the owners
  11. Yeah Dragon Flight definetly wasnt there, I think Liam is thinking of Wizard Flight...... but anyway, I didn't think SlingShot was at the show, it's normally located near the pig diving. This is weird, that it's not there........something may be wrong with it
  12. was Slingshot there? hmm, Oh well, it's not like I havent seen it before
  13. Splash Canyons absence has nothing to do with water restrictions because it has its own circulated water, this is allowed to run in Melbourne, except that the owners don't bring it anymore. Also about Crazy Mouse it has come to Melbourne before, since the owners are Melbourne Based! Crazy Mouse was the headline ride at last years Dandenong show. It didnt come to the Melbourne show, because TPA decided to take it to Perth for their show, which at that time clashed with Melbourne Show dates. This year seeing the two shows days apart, so Crazy Mouse should be at the show this year. It's most likely that Mega Drop (aka SPACE DROP) will be heading down south along with Cliff Hanger. The two rides are owned by Showtime Amusements, and they always make an appearance at our show. It would be stupid not to bring them, as Melbourne is the second largest show
  14. yes i did go to moomba and it wasnt great Ride List: FABBRI RANGER LOVE EXPRESS SLINGSHOT SIZZLER ROLLER GHOSTER DODGEMS WAVE SWINGER anyways, and gazza hangover definetly will be at the show, its melbourne based
  15. Here is the Cliff Hanger, didn't ride it, lol couldn't be stuffed actually, I spent most of the tickets on Rainbow. So ill wait till it comes to the Melb Show
  16. To answer your question GoBoi, Splash Canyon is definetly there, but it was kinda borring. The last time it was at the Melbourne Show was in 1998. Since the park that it operates at, is now closed, we may see it travel. I got back from Sydney just today, and the show was fantastic!!! Rainbow was wicked, I was soooooooooo happy to see it. Rode it 5 times! , and yeah the operator was kinda of a tightass, and gave short rides. Also around 9:30 Durkins Hurricane cought on fire, no flames were seen, but smoke was bellowing out of the tired machine that hadn't stopped running all day! and night!. Fire brigade was there shortly to put out the fire. Also I heard later the Haunted House's sign caught on fire, and today The sizzler blew its hydrolics, and the Mega Mix was once again, down because of Technical Difficulties I took pictures of the Hurricane incident too.
  17. im going tuesday, will take pix, of lp and the show
  18. To answer your question Shaun, Australia definetly has a future with carnival rides. This year so far has brought on 2 new rides, the Darton Cliff Hanger and thr Fabbri Mega Drop. Both of these rides will be debuting at their first big show in Sydney next Friday for the Easter Show. At the moment with what we have is pretty good. Australia is definetly lucky regarding the Huss rides that are still here. Most of Huss' rides, like Rainbow, Ranger, Enterprise cease to exist in the u.s because of the 2 or more trailers. We still have a few travelling, well the only Huss ride travelling now is the Rainbow, with O'Neill Shows. Wittingslow's Pirate and Enterprise both got sold to China, being 2 of the oldest rides they owned. Regarding to accidents and public liability, 2003 wasn't a very good year with Wittingslow's liquidation (kinda), the Wild Mouse accident, and absence of most major rides at the major shows. The thing with the Australian carnival ride industry, is that it has its ups and downs. This year is starting off to be a good year, the ride lineup at the Easter Show looks very exciting indeed, lets just hope now, that the cost of public liability won't rise, and that the owners will be able to maintain their rides so that they keep travelling. Also regarding new rides, Australia isn't allowed to have most of the major rides that travel in Germany, like Huss Topspin, Mondial Top Scan etc etc. But slowly every year we are gettin some new rides, in the past 3 years we have seen new rides like Slingshot, Crazy Mouse, and now Cliff Hanger and Mega Drop. Also another ride that may be hitting our shores sometime this year will be Technical Park's 'STREET FIGHTER'. I have total confidence that the Australian carnival industry will be around for many years to come. cheers. Chris
  19. no, because I got the picture emailed to me by matt, he said he will put the rest online shortly
  20. Yeah, but jeez they could have spent a few hundred bux to get an artist out to come and paint it. Yeah we know that this was meant for rainbow, but thankgod, it doesn't have that, its a truly ugly and borring backdrop
  21. Cant wait to see Liam's vids!. Ill be taking vids too, low quality but better than nothing, finally will have heaps of rainbow vids to watch over and over again! Ill post my report on the show about the 8th or 9th 11 DAYS TO GO
  22. Yeah the coasters like Olympia Looping, Euro Star, among others are just fantastic. Watching these on the eKIRMES dvd, is great, i love them. But back in the 80's most of the huss rides that were in Australia were ahead of the times, and im glad that our showmen are smart and have decided to keep most of them.
  23. Rich, what do you think are "GOOD" carnival rides? I know that the Meisho Pharos Curse, Twin Dragon, Spider, and G-Force, aren't very good rides, but the Enterprise is just great, it's a really fun ride, pretty thrilling for first timers, and i'm glad that we have it. Truly amazing Huss Ride, aren't they all?
  24. Lol, well yeah I love the Rainbow more, but if Ranger hadn't had been designed, Rainbow would never have followed. About the Ranger, it has been said to be more comfortable than the Fabbri Ranger | Kamikaze. Yes, the restraints are round padded cusions that push into your stomach. Last time I saw the Ranger operate in person was, 1990 I think, when I was a young kid at the Rye Beach Carnival.
