  1. ^That is good to hear. I am happy to just wait and see what happens now. Thanks rabid disney.
  2. Just watched it, it was really good. It is being replayed tomorrow at 11:30am if anyone missed it or would like to tape it. I don't have a vcr. I would like to use it for ed purposes if anyone could get me a decent copy?
  3. ^It isn't really a twist... I think it was pretty obvious that is where it was going It would make a great attraction though.
  4. ^Ok thanks. Yeah, I drove past yesterday and they have finished that work. I didn't have a camera so didn't manage to get any photos. They have unpacked most of the pieces now and have started assembling some of the enclosed sections. I will try and grab a photo in the next couple of days if I get a chance, but it might end up being next week sometime.
  5. Now that stuff has been removed, anyone want to speculate what is going in any of these areas? Did they preserve any of it? Like the arcade stuff and that? Or has it all just been removed? What use to be in that Thombstone building? I reckon they might build another walk through attraction in the old Matrix building. Not sure what is going on in the old Thombstone building, but could be related ??? Not sure. As for Looney Tunes it could just be cosmetic. If they put in some new rides I won't complain. I'd like to see a couple more things that adults can join in with though.
  6. I am personally looking forward to the part of the ride where you almost hit those trees! As for the airtime points, etc... it seems really odd the way they have implemented them. A good 'odd' don't get me wrong. I guess it will be interesting to see how it turns out. And it has probably been said before... but I think the biggest draw card will be the seating position. A lady was talking to me about the coaster prior to its official launch. She was saying that it would be something unique - she said she wasn't sure what exactly, but it could be a stand up or dangle leg one or something haha! I think she was trying to keep it secret so good on her. Also, as for the Hydraulic Launch... you never know, they may have a new system planned for this coaster, after all they are using a unique train style, and a unique track design from what they generally use. It is not unusual to develop a new application for current technologies.
  7. King Arthur's court was directly to the left of the River Ride entrance. It was like a Fairy Tale shop and something else. The Five and Dyme was opposite Willy Wonka's Chocolate Store just before you enter the Looney Tunes area. It use to have arcade games and some other pointless amusements. EDIT: I've circled all the areas that are currently fenced off and stuff is going on. Map References: Five and Dyme - 48 King Arthurs - 42 Tombstone - 30
  8. I think those concrete foundations are for the exit slide leading into the pool. As for the wider ones that they are building in the Cyclone space and next to the pool, I have no idea. I thought I would mention that they have started building some kind of brick wall adjacent to the road in the area that the access path use to go behind the Cyclone. And you can see fromt the last picture that on the southern end of the site, they are doing some sort of work. I think the despatch tower for the Cannons will be south of the pool being built. I don't think they would let them leave from the Temple of Huey as it would conjest things too much.
  9. Forgive me if I am wrong, but isn't this redevelopment of the old trawler docks south of Seaworld? I assumed it was relating primarily to that area in response to the issues raised with the trawlers selling their 'catch' on the old docks; and these actions having serious health and safety issues for general customers. Besides, I don't wanna sound like a broken record, but if they are talking about north of Seaworld than I don't mind either... might get rid of seringes and garbage littered around the northern tip.
  10. Gazza... that myspace is gold! hahaha! I had a peek this morning and it seems that King Arthur's court is pretty well gone and the old Five and Dyme has been gutted. In that last pic, the one of the old Tombstone building... the fence is probably a good 15 - 20 metres away from the building. I poked my nose through the fence for a second and it appears as though they have started digging up some of the concrete in that area. They also had a bunch of oddly shaped 'wooden things' (like what goes in a house... the name of which escapes me at the moment) that were stacked on top of each other; and some other things, so it could merely be cosmetic, or it could tie into the new attraction opening in the Matrix location.
  11. I'm not sure if this question is relevant, but aren't the things currently installed under the launch track for the cable on the Hydraulic Launch?
  12. Great pictures! What do you reckon... a guys bowl and a girls bowl?
  13. Gee Movieworld is getting busy. I don't think that Orange thing is coming back. That has been there for ages hasn't it? The Five and Dyme has been due a makeover for some time as well. Be interesting to see what they are doing.
  14. A huh... and let's not forget that the settlements of the Murray river were not originally Australian either. In fact white people in general were not originally from Australia. So I think these statements are really unsupported. As I said, be careful what you consider 'Australian'. Besides, I don't know which press release you guys were reading, but nowhere in the statement did it say, "This coaster proves that Dreamworld is the truly Australian park because we embrase motosports, which is one of Australia's favourite sports." It says (slightly paraphrased), "In the spirit of being an Australian park, we will associate a Motocycle roller coaster with one of our finest achievers in that field, rather than theme it around some American or European nonsense."
  15. Hmm... like deciding whether a coaster with a motobike seat is a better attraction than a Gigacoaster. Thank goodness we have something 'meaningful' to occupy our time. I honestly think that some people have completely missed the point with this coaster. The Motocoaster is not a rollercoaster inspired by Mick Doonan or motosport. It is a Motorbike coaster that just happens to be themed around motosport due to the oppurtunistic nature of the ride. Dreamworld management and the CEO have obviously wanted to include a unique style of coaster and as things progressed saw an oppurtunity to create a relationship with Mick Doonan and Australian Motorbike Racing. In all honesty, it is probably a much better move than introducing a motorbike ride based around some generic idea. Just some other points. Firstly, the idea of 'What would be considered iconically Australian?' is a very contencious issue. To say that Rivertown or Gold Rush country are more Australian than another thing is a remarkably western-centric point of view. Particularly when you are going for a historical feel. If it is a question of whether or not there are followers, then I am affraid we lose out. There are enough followers of the sport to warrant this inclusion. If it is an issue that there are other sports that could have been used, how do you a: introduce a coaster themed around AFL or the NRL, swimming, track and field or any other sport? and b: pass up the oppurtunity to theme a motorbike coaster around an Australian motorsport icon?
  16. They were justing sitting on the grass in the 'extended carpark' on the southern end, so you can drive in there and get close. The only thing is that at the moment they are doing some work on the pipes or carpark or something so access down there is a little difficult.
  17. Yeah, and it isn't like it is a very difficult map to change.
  18. ^Turbo tunnels? And yeah, I think you could expect them to be advertising it somewhere along the lines of the all new Whitewater Mountain... or revamped or something like that.
  19. ^Yeah, and watch us repeatedly fork out the money for it The length of the station itself is large enough to hold two trains. I expect that they would have a seperate load and unload station. I think they could easily utilise a similar system to the Claw. It seems to be one of Dreamworld's more used systems (yeah, only two rides, but hey). The other thing that I will say, is that access to the station is a bit sketchy at this point. I don't think any pics show it, but the way the building, etc have been made, the final turn are in a very procarious position. It seems as though it isn't high enough for riders to access the station under it, but considering the space the building exists in, it would be quite a trek to go over the top of the track. If you were to go over the track, it would suggest that the final part of the ride would be 'indoors' as such. It is really awkward to explain, but it will be interesting to see how it works.
  20. ^Thanks for that Gazza. Now that Dreamworld has gone all out and are promoting their new attraction, it is time for the Warner parks to start peddling their new babies. Out of the new attractions this year, I think the Surf Rider has become a bit of a darkhorse in terms of popularity this summer. Much of the hype will build up around Dreamworld's Motocoaster... but I think as the days get hotter and more people have a go at this, it will really find a place as one of the better attractions on the coast. I think it will also be interesting to see how Wet'n'Wild market the revamped Whitewater Mountain, especially if it maintains the same name. I know this probably belongs in another topic, but keep in mind Movieworld has made no announcements as to its replacement of the Matrix Exhibit, and in reality, whatever it is will probably be one of their feature attractions of this summer.
  21. Yep, I think when Dreamworld talks "Thrill rides" they mean anything that will make you scream. I know there will be rides out there that are far more thrilling than this, but expect to get a decent rush out of it. I think Richard will back me up on this, but many of the pics really don't do the ride justice. When you see many of the supports, much of the track will dip and turn very close to other elements of the track and at the end head in close to the building. I think that at many stages people will be clinching their feet or ducking their head. And of course the best part is that it is a unique style of train. It is definately a step in the right direction. While it may not be at Superman Escape's standards, it really isn't fair to compare them. When you dig deep they utilise the same technology, but that is about as much as the two have in common. With regards to the discussion surrounding the name, etc. I honestly think it is good. Sure beats something like "Booster Bikes" and really isn't too long. I foresee people just refering to it as the MotoCoaster in time, which still has a nice ring to it. The Mick Doohan element - as Richard was saying - will probably appeal to quite a few motorsport enthusiasts the same way that Superman Escape and many other branded rides at Movieworld appeal to their respective followers. I know it is a long way off yet, but I just hope that in a couple of years they do not let the association with a real-life motochampion dwindle, as it could deminish the thematic quality of the ride. But we'll see how it goes before we worry about that. And in a few years time you would hope that Dreamworld would have installed something else to take the primary focus off this attraction. Edit: Oh and one quick question. When you refer to the height, is that based on the highest drop, or relative to the initial launch run? Because some of those supports around the first bend seem a little higher than 7 metres.
  22. ^I think today we also discovered that some of DreamworldRipeOp's top secret information about the children's ride next to the water have been defunct too
  23. Great! Sounds like it will be two then. We should probably keep our eyes out in the coming weeks to see how this progresses. I think in general MLE have seen that now is the time to start generating buzz about their new attractions leading into September, especially considering that now the July breaks are over.
  24. ^Yeah, I'm with you. Wasn't the intention that WhiteWater World would be Dreamworld's waterpark. Thus, the introduction of the dual entrance, and the world passes, etc. Blue Lagoon is where they had Nightmares running all over last Summer holidays and now there is a huge white tent-like functiony thing in there. Correct me if I'm wrong, but it hasn't been open as a waterpark since last year.
  25. The names alright. It isn't anything too ground breaking, but the logo, etc looks great. One thing is for sure now though, the info will just keep pooring in from here on. September is just over a month away, and just three days ago the place looked like the last batch of pics Richard put up, so they are putting the foot down to get it built.
