  1. Awwww. Sad this ride has closed :-( I really hope MW have something good planned to replace the river ride.
  2. Still off topic for a moment -Definitly only ONE observer posistion in the river ride -Definitly only ONE observer posistion at Wild West -When I worked Scooby there were 2 observer boxes, but only 1 was in use -When I worked Batman there was never a "batcave" operator. The timing of this ride means a librarian can take the guests throguh from start to finish. I also worked during MW's busiest Christmas and I can tell you at full capacity I never worked Batman with 2 loaders to 1 module. During slow times Batride can get away with 1 Modules running with 1 staff = cap 20 people - For 2 modules the staff increases to 3. Now - Back on Topic - Looney Tunes River Ride will be closed at LEAST through Easter. This is the word from guest services this morning. She would not confirm the ride would be closed forever, but she did say that if I was planning a trip for Easter, the River Ride would not be open at Easter. This may just be a line they use for indefinite maintenence closures. Just thought I'd update
  3. It's true Alex. The amount of people who shut off their brains before they enter a park is ridiculous! I think some guests definitely need to take some responsibility for themselves. Some stupid questions I was asked "what time is the 230 parade?" - guest on main street "does this go upside down?" - guests at wwf What use to annoy the hell out of me was working the entry at Scooby Doo and having parents bring q screaming child to the entry. "can you tell him it's not scary and it's not a rollercoaster?" My response - "well actually sir, some kids do get scared as this is a 'ghost' train ride. And the rollercoaster inside is a pretty intense wild mouse for a kid" Or the clincher - kids who grow an inch or 2 in a few short hours. Again this would happen at Scooby a lot. Parents would fill their kids shoes full of napkins or actually have the kid wear shoeswith a 2-3 inch sole so they can make the height. It's about safety people. I didnt find joy in making ur kid cry cause they were an inch to short, but I'm not Going to risk thier life in an evac or ride proble even if you are willing to. Guest responsibility for themselves should be a priority. if they can't work out a couple of lines at an entrance then it's best they get straight back in that car or bus and head home. For Their own sake, and mine.
  4. Closing the rides half the day allows the staff to be swapped over easier. When I worked at wvtp the first rides most people learnt was the village rides, the river ride and batman module operator. River Ride 1 Preshow 1 Load 1 unload 1 super Batman has 6 modules for total cap of 120 a ride. During off season they will only use 1-2 modules 1 library 1 load 1-2 unload depending on modules 1 super For interest sake The other rides at minimum Lethal 1 super 1 load/unload Wild west 1 super 1 load 1 unload 1 lift hill Scooby 1 super 1 load 1 unload 1 entry 1 lift room Road runner 1 super I left before suoerman and batwing opened so can't comment on those ones. Feel like im missing something here haha but can't think what!
  5. WOW Tjay! You know something a lot of us would like to know! You must be really cool and important at WVTP! I only wish you could tell us what the replacement will be?? But I guess you can't contractually?! Ohhh that sucks a lot!!! It most be so awesome to know secret things!! Now that's out of the way - I hope WVTP keep the new ride along the same lines. A family attraction, well themed, and fitting in with that current part of the park. But wait a second, I just had a crazy thought! Maybe WVTP could re-theme just that area of the park - The Road Runner, the cafe and the river ride show building. Keep the Looney Tunes Village as is, but bring that area into 2011 with something new. As you can see from my attachment, there is probably enough space there to do an adequate retheme. If only Tjay could tell us what the plans are! Then I could stop all this mindless speculation!
  6. Hi all, Thanks to everyone who participated in Creative Genius. It has been a lot of fun reading submissions and one day we might see somethings taken on board by the parks. As there were no entries this week (and entries have been declining week2week) I have decided to end the competition. The final leaderboard 1st. themeparkgc (10pts) 1st. Gazza (10pts) 3rd. Joz (8pts) 4th. Ihatemisssly (7pts) 5th. Isica8 (4pts) 6th. Pin142 (3pts) 6th. ads08 (3pts) 8th. jakeman398 (2pts) 8th bmull19 (2pts) 10th. linus1995 (1pt) 10th. 7. Found some pictures on a photobucket account. I'll post here tomorrow Morning but if u cannot wait that long just do a search on photobucket for Movieworld and the gremlins pics are around page 32 I think. The swinging gremlin on the light is there as well! From memory they could probably stand 40-50 people
  8. There was more than one theatre, I think 3-4 but that's a number I may have pulled out of the air. Theatre 1 - filling with guests Theatre 1 - movie started Theatre 2 - filling with guests Theatre 1 - "evacuated" because of gremlins - guests than led down a hallway to ride vehicles. A gremlin swinging from a downlight scared the hell out of my sister and she was removed by a fire escape Theatre 2 - movie started Theatre 3 - filling with guests Theatre 1 - filling with guests Theatre 2 - evacuated Theatre 3 - movie started Etc etc.... Only the one theatre remains and during Scooby Evacuations it was checked by an operator to ensure no one was in there by accident.
  9. Was it part of the attraction? Not sure if you are referring to my post about the theatre. The theatre in the pretext of the Gremlins ride was very much a part of the attraction. In fact there were at least 4-5 theatres. Not sure if thAt's what you meant by that. The theatre as a part of Scooby Doo. No.
  10. haha Gazza - I didn't actually have any water park challenges planned :-< - It didn't even cross my mind to do a Water park challenge!!
  11. yep - there is/was a Gremlins theatre to the left of the Scooby Queue that was still intact when I worked at MW.
  12. About 4-5 years ago the theatre was still intact and in orginal form. It was actually used as a training venue for staff. Someone else might have a better idea if it's still there ? Nate
  13. Just a reminder that submissions close this Saturday night for this round Double points are once again up for grabs Nate

Only 4 more challenges remain and this week will be our second 2 week Mega Challenge! First to the leaderboard though 1st. Gazza (10pts) 2nd Joz (8pts) 3rd. Seaworld Animal Attraction With Bermuda Triangle now closed, Seaworld will be opening a brand new animal encounter. The animal encounter will give you an up close view of a group of animals. Seaworld will also be building a ride based around this animal. The ride can simply enjoy it's name, or be totally themed to involve the animal in the attraction. I have attached the space you have to work with at Seaworld for this attraction so please try and keep it within these limits. In short 1- Create an Animal exhibit (think polar bear shores, shark bay etc) 2- Create a ride themed to this animal Remember, you have til the 1st of Jan to post your submission, so make it good! Double points are up for grabs!
  24. It will help to if you let us know the ages in your group and what you most want to so at the parks. Are you after thrills? Shows? Relaxingfamily time? Ages / heights of any small children would also be handy to help decide which rides they can go on. Nate
