  1. Here is a quick thing I did this morning in RCT3 which is most likely not the correct layout but is one which I tried to fit as closely with the locations of footers/supports that I have seen. And do remember this is RCT3 and doesn't give a huge variety of track pieces so this is the best I could do with this certain type of coaster in the game (hence why the top hat isn't verticle). EDIT: I have added a zipped file of the sandbox that this ride was made in. The coaster type is from the original game so it should run - although since there is a Soaked expansion pack coaster used in that sandbox park too it might not load properly but I'm not too sure. superman.zip
  2. I'll have some time tomorrow morning probably to try and add some more to the ride and predict the rest of the layout based upon the supports that are up as well as the footers, but still from looking at the pictures I haven't figured it out exactly especially since I don't know where the station will be. But nevertheless, from test riding this section in RCT3 it seems like it will be a really fun coaster.
  3. There is still more to the layout I believe than what I built in RCT3. I only just connected it back up like that so that I could test it and have yet to add to it after seeing the new photos so when I do that I will post another RCT3 layout. So don't worry, I'm sure it is still a bit longer than that.
  4. Here is something I have done in RCT3 which is quite rough and hasn't been updated since the most recent photos have been online.
  5. As we have seen with Movie World in the past, there is quite a bit of a break between additions. The last one before this latest spending spree was Scooby Doo a few years ago and even the Batman Ride 2 still has "New!" next to it on the sign in the park. So judging by this with a new coaster and a 4D movie along with advertising costs, as well as the rest of WVTP spending on the other parks I think it is going to be quite a while before they recoup funds and can afford to buy anything new. However at least these two new attractions will provide for a much better marketing boost for Movie World compared to the lousy Wiggle's World idea at Dreamworld so I can see Movie World attendance will increase quite a bit and hopefully the wait for a new attraction won't be too long. And as much as I don't like the Shrek idea - I definately acknowledge that Movie World has the upperhand over Dreamworld these school holidays because Shrek appeals to a far greater demographic than Wiggle's World could ever dream of. Despite my protest, I will still go and check out Shrek 4D anyway, however on the other hand I wouldn't be caught dead riding the Big Red Car ride. As for ads, I am still waiting to see something here in Brisbane - though I think it is rather strange that Movie World hasn't made any mention of it (or the coming Superman coaster) on its website. They go out and spend large amounts of money on advertising and poster campaigns around Queensland Rail and don't even make a single mention on their website, doesn't make a great deal of sense to me.
  6. Well when I wrote that piece of information I was basing it upon the DVD box of the movie that I had in my cupboard and no where did I see a WB logo. However upon rechecking I did see Warner Bros in the credits on the box, so my apologies. However my point about the Twister attraction being legitimate at Universal Studios as far as I'm concerned still applies.
  7. To D.C., let me give you some synonyms for the word innovative: pioneering, inventive, new, novel, ORIGINAL. Copying an attraction from Universal Studios is hardly an innovative attraction. It is not inventive. It is not novel, it is not pioneering, it is not inventive and is certainly not original. This is why I am not happy with the inclusion of Shrek 4D, because it is not an innovative attraction! It may have been innovative for Universal when 'they' made it, but it definately isn't for Movie World.
  8. Well I'm sure Movie World had plenty of money to spend on advertising this because they were cheap and weren't bothered to do anything original and just 'borrowed' another themepark's idea. I have yet to see the ad, but if this is the case then I am extremely disappointed in Movie World and they should be ashamed of themselves.
  9. I agree, Scooby Doo and Wild West Falls are my two favourites. I like Lethal Weapon but it gives me too much of a headache after riding it sometimes. Personally I would like to see Batman changed with a fresh new film based on the new movie. The one they have now is good, but not as good as the original.
  10. Its a great game and you just need to look what I did in my Dreamworld/Cedar Point Recreations to be able to see what can be created - the promotional pictures don't give the game enough credit I think. And also check out the creations on the Atari forums and you will see how good things can be. So in that respect it is worth the money. However you really need a good graphics card - I don't play the game much anymore and I wasted $40 on Soaked because to play it I have to run it on the absolute minimum graphics setting and it looks quite bad. But on a good computer it is a great game.
  11. Since they decided to call the park Warner Bros. Movie World. Afterall, the park has limited its past attractions by sticking to Warner Bros. attractions. In the past decade and a bit, there have been a plethora of film ideas which Movie World could have used - but they didn't. They limited their choices based on WB concepts such as Wild Wild West, Scooby Doo, Batman, Police Academy, Lethal Weapon, Looney Tunes, Superman, Matrix, Harry Potter, and so forth. Why should they break with consistent branding of attractions just because they are too cheap to make their own original 3D film. And by the way, when I complain about the branding - I am refering primarily to major attractions and other stuff, not small insignificant stuff like using Marilyn Monroe or Hi5 (which I also object to) and to Psycho, I don't know exactly what Twister you are referring to, but the 1996 film Twister with Helen Hunt was made by Universal, not Warner Bros. which perfectly legitimises its presence in Universal Studios. I can deal with minor discrepancies in Warner Bros. exclusivity such as the music that plays around the park and other little things. But I do not want to see something as major as an attraction being non-Warner Bros related. And besides, I'm sure Universal and Dreamworks who made the Shrek 4D attraction would like to keep some credit for producing it and not just let Warner Bros stick their logo on it - so when visitors to the park see pre-film titles or credits for Universal and Dreamworks they may wonder what it is doing in Warner Bros. Movie World.
  12. I didn't think much seemed to be happening at Wiggles World either. They are really going to be pushing it I think to have it open on the holidays. Though I did notice down in the storage area near the Thunderbolt station a Wiggle's Big Red Car - I don't know if this is part of the dark ride or whether it was just used for promotion or something.
  13. Ok, so everyone disagrees with me again. So I take it that since none of you care about preserving a brandname - then you wouldn't object to Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck and all the other Looney Tunes joining in with Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck and the gang at Disneyland? I'm sure if that suggestion was to be made, there would be an uproaring of anger amongst people for ruining the 'Disney' brand by merging with characters synonomous with Warner Bros. I believe people when they say Shrek is a great movie, is a great 4D attraction, and would attract visitors - but on the prinicple that it does not fit in with every other single attraction at the park in being Warner Bros related I object very strongly to its presence. After all, the purpose of creating a film studio based theme park is to promote its own brand and make lots of money at the same time by providing entertainment based on its 'own' ideas and concepts - that is what every other film company theme park does - and not just taking from another company because they are to cheap and lazy to make their own. I am really hoping that Movie World will not dissapoint me and any other purists out there that have yet to side with me.
  14. Well the Shrek movie was made by Dreamworks. However the 3D attraction was made by Universal Studios for its themeparks. Also, Universal I believe are currently in talks to acquire Dreamworks. Whether or not Warner Bros could purchase the rights for Shrek in Australia is not my point - I just don't want to see any attractions at 'Warner Bros Movie World' that Warner Bros had nothing to do with making. And I'll just quote what is used on the description of the Movie World section of this forum: "Warner Bros. Movie World is home to various rides and attractions, themed to Warner Bros. films and concepts." Now if Shrek comes in, then the park will hardly feature various rides and attractions all themed to Warner Bros. films and concepts. It would have to be changed to: "Warner Bros. Movie World is home to various rides and attractions, MOSTLY themed to Warner Bros. films and concepts with the exception of Shrek 3D which was brought in only for the purpose of attracting visitors and making money without any worries about destroying the consistent Warner Bros. branding at this park and annoying the hell out of matty_o_911."
  15. On another website I didn't seem to be getting much support for my anti-Shrek campaign, so do people really not have any problems with Movie World abandoning its WB theming and taking on a Universal/Dreamworks product. Every other ride/attraction at Movie World is Warner Bros related, so why would they change now?? It just makes no sense to me.
  16. I also believe it won't be Shrek, for numerous reasons that I outlined on another website and will not repeat myself. But if it does happen to be Shrek, then I will be very dissapointed with Movie World for ruining its branding by taking in a non-Warner Bros franchise for an attraction. My bet is that it might be an English version of The Mask 3D that was created for Warner Bros. Movie World Madrid. A 3D movie from another Warner Bros. park seems more plausible to me than one from a Universal Studios park.
  17. Before I moved to Brisbane, I would have had to travel half an hour to get to the nearest shopping centre so I really don't see the problem in travelling 10km to go to a shopping centre. And I don't see how you can really compare that to Brisbane, since the difference in population density between Coomera and Brisbane City.
  18. Is it really necessary for a big shopping centre there? Just up the road a new Westfield shopping centre is being built at Helensvale near the railway station there so I really don't think the population of the region (even though it is growing quickly) can sustain something on too large of a scale.
  19. Yeah thats him. I believe his body was underneath the carriage I was sitting in because once the many ambulances/police/fire/rail authorities arrived they were shining torches underneath the carriage I was in. They eventually announced over the intercom that they wanted us to stay away from the windows and not see what had happened, and eventually the police came in and instructed all of us in the carriage to move to the front of the train away from everything. As much as none of us wanted to see a badly injured body being pulled out, everyone on the train was just so curious about what exactly had happened since no one had a clue. We were stuck on the train for an hour and a half before they guided us off the train one by one through the dark down the ladder on the side of the train and then guided us across the tracks back towards Rocklea station (we didn't have to worry about other trains since trains on that area of the Gold Coast line had ceased operating). It was a really strange experience, but I really feel sorry for the guy who was hit - especially since he didn't die until he got to hospital. If I was hit by a train and taken under three carriages, I wouldn't want to survive any longer.
  20. I think a day is enough for a group visiting the park - especially if it is a weekday. Nowadays, I myself when I visit themeparks, I go to both Dreamworld and Movie World in the same day such as what I did yesterday. Neither park was very busy and I managed to get everything done. In three hours at Dreamworld I went on Cyclone, Tower of Terror three times, Giant Drop, Mine Ride, Claw twice, Wipeout twice, Reptar and took time to walk by Wiggle's World and through the back of the park. Of course a family would take their time as opposed to me who was trying to do everything before I went on to Movie World.
  21. I was at Movie World this afternoon and the top hat has been completed. I'm not sure if it was done this morning, or perhaps yesterday but I first saw it from the Giant Drop, and then later in the day when I visited Movie World. It is in a really great position and looks fantastic from all around the park where it can generally be seen from above some of the buildings. Also while I was there they were extending the banked curve around further where it was beginning to slope upwards for something. Though it doesn't appear like there is very much more track left out in the car park so I don't think there will be much more than what has already put in place. Still, the ride is looking really good and I'm sure will be extremely popular. Movie World was quite good today, as was Dreamworld - though the most unusual part of my day has been being on a train tonight that I think ran someone over (and delayed my arrival home by 2 hours). But I'll have to check on what exactly happened in the news tomorrow night because they certainly weren't telling us passengers anything.
  22. Great pictures and update! This ride looks absolutely amazing so far and the turn after the top hat looks perfect and is in a great place too - I think watching this coaster in action will be as entertaining as the ride itself. Just so that I could get an impression of the coaster so far, I built the tophat and the first turn of this ride in RCT3 and from the onride camera perspective it just looked so fun and I really can't wait for this ride to be finished and open, and if Movie World is looking for a live test dummy to test this thing I will gladly volunteer my services. Once again thanks for the great photos!
  23. It seems as though that Shanghai will be the next location after Hong Kong to recieve a Disney theme park.
  24. The terrorism explaination is definately a reasonable explanation. I remember looking on another satellite imaging service a few years back and the main political buildings such as the White House and the Capitol were all blanked out in Washington D.C. so that they couldn't be seen.
  25. I went to Dreamworld on Friday and the Wipeout wasn't working either - it was stuck up in the air at an odd angle as if it just stopped during a test run. It opened again at about 1pm but I didn't go on it since I wanted to have a ride on TOT before I left to head over to Movie World for a couple of hours where I had much more fun than I did at Dreamworld. I was actually surprised how busy Dreamworld was for a Friday but Movie World didn't have very long queues if any at all, partly because it was raining. Riding Lethal Weapon in the rain was quite fun (I got more wet on that then WWF), especially in the front row and I wasn't left with the headaches I recieved from it when I had last gone to Movie World, although once after riding my eye was stinging from the amount of water I had got in the face dripping off the row in front of me. A building near the fountain was starting to rise for Superman but I couldn't figure out what it would be for (maybe a station) and I tried looking into the big shed which had been partly opened up but it didn't look as though much had been done.
