  1. I went on this for the first time yesterday and it took 45 minutes to get on the ride, with the line comparable to Wild West Falls which only took us 10 minutes to get on. They need to invest in another train because if this ride truly had a big line in peak times it would take hours to get on. Ridiculous. Anyway, I did enjoy it much more than its previous incarnation and only had a slight headache as opposed to a raging headache that I had after my last ride. 2. I don't understand the sudden influx of criticism. People could sit here and argue all day what or what shouldn't have been included in the poll but at the end of the day it was my poll and I made it this way and had a logical reason for doing so. If you don't like it then make your own poll.
  3. Surfrider is more like Aussie World's Redback ride imo. I don't see how it's a "rollercoaster" in the same context as the one's I've included in the Poll.
  4. ^ The only problem with putting AW's coaster on there, is that it has two twin siblings down south and it's not really a unique ride.
  5. Sort of depends what they're doing structurally to the place and I really can't comment on that because I have no clue. If its big structural work its gonna be a lot more $$. But if just minimal structural work and just a refit, then $1 mill sounds about right.
  6. I think the reason for Motocoaster having long lines is its very much a family coaster and something everyone can ride (about the age of 7/8 or whatever). Most parents wouldnt touch the Tower of Terror.
  7. ^ Oooh I was right then - that's a first I was thinking that the trains would've been around $1.5 million and they would be spending an extra 500k - $1 million on the themeing.
  8. ^ LOL ouch. Mick Doohan's Motocoaster was such a poor investment in retrospect, $10 million for such a shitty coaster that people go out of their way to avoid. For a few more million they could've gotten something seriously good.
  9. Does anyone know what type of budget they're working with? Imo they cut a lot of the budget from the GL themeing to make way for this. I'd say $2 million. Or is that way off base?
  10. ^ I recently stumbled upon that list and was very proud to see it in the top 20. It's nice knowing we have a Top 20 coaster just down the road
  11. To Gazza - I haven't been to Disneyland so I haven't experienced those attractions, but I guess if you have a decent enough budget and some creative people on board, a ride could be made themed well on its own. I just haven't seen anything executed that well here in Aus, except Bermuda Triangle.
  12. ^ Agreed. I don't really mind the subject of the themeing, just as long as they do it well. I'm not a massive movie buff, but themes based on movies are better than themes not based on movies (ie the rides in Dream world). I'm a little miffed I never got to ride the Gremlins ride as it looked really well done (and that's coming from someone who recently watched the movie and thought it was 80's trash lol).
  13. Out of the 50 voters, 44 chose Superman Escape as one of their options and rightfully so imo. It's clearly Australia's best quality and most loved coaster and it's really an asset to Movie World. I really hoped this ride would be the catalyst for bigger and better coasters in the future and I still hope for that.
  14. I'm not a rollercoaster expert in the slightest so I'm wondering how a ride that is still the same but with different restraints can be faster than what it once was :S
  15. Spencer - you're not going to get far by calling the general public stupid. The general public are NOT stupid and thus why Movie World is a successful theme park. The public KNOW and TRUST Movie World and will continue to go there, regardless of how they theme their rides or theme them at all. You are clearly nitpicking making a mountain out of a molehill. We are lucky they are putting $$$ into a dated and somewhat "average" ride to improve it and the theme is a hell of a lot more relevant than "Lethal Weapon". Also, for someone who knows nothing about video games and is what you'd describe as a "commoner", I would tie Arkham Asylum with the Batman movies and not a video game. Even if it was just referencing the video games, who cares? Get a life lol. It's a little irritating to come here and see such petty hyperbolic criticism. Don't get me wrong - criticism should be expressed, when warranted. But stop nitpicking just for the sake of nitpicking, it brings down the whole mood of the forum and as lame as this sounds, impairs my excitement for the ride.
  16. Yes I'm also sick of thread hijacks. Back on topic... I'm thinking the "ride" in Sept won't be a ride at all because it's worded as "attraction" which makes me think its going to be a) something in the old Batman building and something to do with the Justice League. Maybe an interactive tour or something?
  17. I think WWF is pretty thrilling. The backwards dip and the steep end hill both get the heart pumpin
  18. ^ That makes sense how? The general public have no idea that the flume ride is a second hand ride from fun fairs, so if they did up the Boomerang why would that be a bad idea as opposed to building a new Boomerang? I think it would be a bad idea investing so much money on a NEW Boomerang considering its an aged concept that was first seen in Aus 25 years ago.
  19. I like that this thread turned into Aussie World related hehe. OK so here's the thing. Aussie World would be better off, instead of putting in 5 mediocre rides, putting in a STAR ATTRACTION + 1or 2 mediocre rides. The star attraction of course being the GCI Big Fun . And lol @ the person in here saying the Wild Mouse coasters are considered wooden coasters. I don't think so honey boo boo. They really are - great example Six Flags New Orleans which had 5 coasters from memory but most people said they the boomerang was the worst and/or they didn't ride it at all.
  20. GCI Big Fun >> Any of the other ideas presented. Think about it - it would fit right in with the AW theme plus Australia doesn't have a wooden coaster to my knowledge so they'd have bragging rights. And people would travel from Bris/Gold Coast/North QLD/maybe even interstate to ride it as opposed to a 25 year old rough vekoma boomerang that's like a 2nd rate Lethal Weapon.
  21. ^ The cost for the ride + it being shipped here would already be out of their budget, much less them refurbishing it.
  22. Agree with Gazza. I mean I'd only support this idea if they got new trains/fixed up the ride as much as possible like they did with the Flume. Otherwise, DO. NOT. WANT.
  23. Well it was only in QLD for a few months wasn't it? And that was back in the 80s lol. I doubt anyone but a handful would travel to Aussie World to ride it (most of the ones being on this forum).
  24. Lol who do they think they are trying to flog a ride that they picked up for roughly $1.4 million US (back when our dollar was much lower than theirs) for $400, 000 more and its 7 years older? The cheek... And no, I do not want this thing at Aussie World. It has nostalgia value only for people in NSW, it would have zero impact on AW. Plus it looks crap.
  25. I sit whereever I am in the line lol. Luck of the draw isn't it?
