  1. That sounds extremely cool, it really does, and I really want to believe you but at the exact same time, it seems so outlandish. Surely you can understand us when we say this seems really unbelievable?
  2. I went on the Hangover at the Ekka a couple of years ago, and it's definitely one of my favourite carnival rides. Key word there: Carnival. I honestly think VRTP can do better. These style of rides just don't fit the MW that I've known to love. It's a movie park, not the local show. Yet there was something that popped into my head while I was thinking about this addition. The Wipeout at DW is a complete spin 'n' spew, but managed to be an iconic ride in Australia thanks to its use of basic storytelling and themeing. Remember Tomb Raider: The Ride at Kings Island? One of the only giant top spins in the world, and it was highly regarded because they took this carnival style of ride and used it as a foundation for a heavily themed and story driven attraction. Point I'm trying to make is that what happens if we're all worrying that the ride will end up like something at Luna Park when in reality, it could be the next Wipeout or Tomb Raider: The Ride?
  3. Holy crap Reanimated, your insider leak seems to be on the money. Quick, someone call the Gold Coast Bulletin and maybe Tracey Grimshaw, because we've got a real hot lead right here.
  4. That statement isn't exactly the most productive. Is it possible for you to share the details? Or is this something that needs to be tight lipped?
  5. I can believe a WWF refurb, but I would still love to hear a source for these, @dmh
  6. A payment plan would be great for me, but the tiered passes intrigue me. Could it just be a free entry to Screamworld, or something a bit more substantial?
  7. It might have been the perfect mix for the 90's, but looking back on it without having experienced it, the whole set-up with Beetlejuice and the Gremlins seems unnatural. On that note, why didn't they call it Warner. Brothers Classics & the great gremlin adventure starring Beetlejuice? If he's a frequent character in the ride, why didn't they mention him in the title? Maybe this is just me being an idiot, but I really think it was a crazy idea to put them together.
  8. But seriously, why the hell is Beetlejuice in this ride? I just can't wrap my head around the connection. Beetlejuice and the Universal Monsters I can understand, but why Gremlins? Was it because they were supernatural comedies with some dark themes?
  9. You have to admit, it sounds like you're off on a wild ride with the Green Fairy when you're spreading the news that Dreamworld will shut down in 13 years. Will parks shut down? Eventually, they'll have to. At this current period of time, no one can accurately state anything because our parks on relatively smooth sailing at the moment. If this rumoured Wanda park goes ahead and kicks ass, then that may change. Side Note: Is that a typo or is this SuperBatMan 2: Electric Boogaloo?
  10. Isn't this the second time you've posted this? I think it's a bit too early to be sleepwalking, so now I think you're just trolling.
  11. Looks like a really nice dark ride. It definitely would have horrified me as a child, but now as an adult, I feel like I could actually appreciate it. Just a couple of notes... Who thought it would be a wise idea to go from a light-hearted blooper reel straight to the anarchy of Gremlins? Seems like the designers really had fun with the ride. I just have to smile at some of those gags, like the flashing Gremlin at the clothing department. The immersion looks amazing. From the pre-show to the off-loading of the ride, it feels as if you're in the middle of a cheesy B-movie. As bad as that sounds, I really like that approach. Granted, I think Gremlin's is the type of ride the would suffer without the acting. The same approach can't really be added to each and every ride. Was Beetlejuice in this? I swear to god that seems like a really weird choice if they did. The same goes for Alf in the German version. I honestly can't find the connection between Gremlin's and those franchises.
  12. At least it fills up the whole column. I would take POP's oversized images over any 50x50 compressed jpeg any day
  13. Sounds fishy to me that it would be a the membership would be limited time only. Reminds me of Rugs-a-Million's constant closing down sales...
  14. See I think Mad Max would be a good choice for a multitude of reasons... It's a classic Australian franchise. Why not represent Australian cinema in an Australian theme park? Fury Road was extremely well received. There would be no better time to make a Mad Max coaster then when it's still fresh in the public's mind. There has been absolutely nothing themed around Mad Max in theme park history. DC has not only been done to death in Movie World but also worldwide. Why not make the next addition a "World's First"? Also, considering you don't seem to be a fan of the IP ideas that are whirring around this forum, what would you like to see, @OceanGirl ?
  15. If you're sitting in the front car, you tend to miss the pipes altogether. It's one of those effects that's only really noticeable towards the end of the train. Can't say when it was last used, but I vividly remember waiting in that back section about a year ago.
  16. Woah... So much has been done since I was there not even a week ago. I wonder whether we'll see construction go up just as quickly as these facades have gone down....
  17. It appears that Movie Park Germany is getting a new Mack coaster this year. Could this mean that the original mention of Movie World getting a new coaster from Mack actually be getting the old Movie World Germany confused with Movie World Australia?
  18. An interesting proposal for a residential and resort precinct next door to Dreamworld has been released. If this proposed development does go ahead, I wonder how it would affect the park? Especially considering the proximity of the residential towers to the park. I'm not too familiar with noise restrictions in these sorts of situations, but if this proposal does go ahead, could we see a similar situation to Luna Park Sydney?
  19. Finally got around to riding the Hot Wheels Sidewinder, and I have a bit of a mixed opinion. In terms of the operations, the overhaul was successful. Loading on the ride took no time at all, the lift hill was surprisingly smooth, the harnesses were comfortable, and it parked almost perfectly. Normally I would rate this pretty high, but there's just something that bugs me about the whole experience; it still reeks of the Cyclone. When I hear that a ride is being completely overhauled and brought into a brand-new experience, I expect most of what was left behind to be changed and altered in some fashion. Yet, in the queue for the sidewinder, I still felt like I was waiting for the Cyclone. The clinical walls remained, the vents for the long-dead fans remained, even the old "Tarp Cyclone" room remained (albeit with an extremely bright coat of paint). I'm not saying I expect DW to start from scratch and rebuild the queue building, but I just feel like the only real change that was made was a new colour palette. Everywhere you turn, you still see the relics of the Cyclone and I honestly expected a little more from Dreamworld, especially considering how they've been going lately. Better than the Cyclone? Yes, but only brought down because it feels like the Cyclone through and through, only, this time, hiding behind an obnoxious colour palette.
  20. Was just at the park and there's not all that much to note. Demolition is still going along, and it appears that the park will be utilising the area between the Show Stage and Arkham, as the have demolished some buildings to make a small opening. On a weird side note, anyone know how often that Sea World Helicopters will land in the Movie World car park? There seemed to be some business people in the helicopter, but whether it's related to the new additions is beyond me. Maybe it's the heads of the company?
  21. Thunder Road, eh? Mad Max would be a pretty good choice for a coaster IMHO, however, there's just not enough information out there for me to be campaigning that Max is the theme for one of the next additions. For all we know, the whole Western section could be turned into Tommy Wiseau's The Room: The Ride...
  22. Just because some people were riding it didn't mean it that enough people were riding it. Let's go for a bit of an analogy. Let's say you've just opened a takeaway shop and you've just implemented a delivery service. After a month or two, you look back at your books and realize that while the delivery service did get some use, it wasn't pulling enough profit to justify its existence. Would you remove the delivery service and use that money to go towards other ventures which may result in higher profits? Or would you keep it running even though it provides minimal growth for your business? Maybe it's because I've grown up being influenced by playing Tycoon games (looking at you, RCT and SimCity), but if something is stagnating and providing minimal, if not negative, growth I would definitely look towards removing it. It only seems like a natural thought process
