  1. I wouldn't mind a closed one purely because I haven't been on one of those before, but the open funnel does make for quite good spectating if there's an appropriate platform (a la WnW GC).
  2. Hah, thought I was going to get in first- turns out y'all figured it out over the weekend. Anyway, Today Tonight ad this morning in the west: Exactly what I was hoping for
  3. I like water parks/rides and am always happy to see more of them. Though admittedly there is less variety - this again looks like an "order the proslide backcatalogue" park.
  4. I seem to remember there only being one toboggan when I last rode it (early 2000s) - did they take one of them out before the second, or is my memory failing me?
  5. I'm not sure it'd be worth it; Bayswater Waves already has a wave pool, and considering the expense of redesigning the pool area and installing the wave equipment I don't think the ROI would be there.
  6. We don't know that, and accidents absolutely can happen because of negligence. Lets not get too defensive of MW before we know the details of what has happened. edit: missed that there was an 11th page and that people have already responded to this.
  7. Hah, you sure know how to play up to an enthusiast community, Mark Sounds exciting, whatever you have planned. Good to get a new wet ride in, many people I know will not ride dry rides/coasters which look scary but are comfortable with wet rides.
  8. Not going to lie, I always find myself a lot more comfortable in harnesses with a ratchet-style "click" as the harness locks in, even if it is purely psychological. That said, one of the two harnessess failing is not someone "nearly falling out" - it has dual locking mechanisms for a reason - the secondary mechanism means that the rider was perfectly safe.
  9. Remarkable how small Turbo Mountain looks now in photos! Back when I was a little tacker and it was the only coaster I'd been on I thought it was massive - the lift hill and first drop now look very tame.
  10. Cheers Mark, greatly appreciate you checking it out. The front row was still very popular so it wasn't a big deal! I'm surprised Mr Yoshi says Shotgun is the best - for me I probably like it the least - seems like a mostly inferior Tunnel of Terror. Very popular though. I'd say the best is Tunnel of Terror or the 6 lane racer, though they're both pretty standard water park rides. Agreed on the speed slides being the most intense - wish we would ride them head first.
  11. Went to AW yesterday to have a squiz at Abyss (didn't get the opportunity to go last year). Haven't been for a few years so forgive me if some of these thoughts are outdated: Abyss is a great coaster, really enjoyed it, and very efficient queuing with the 4 cars. I also found the front row pretty rough - my head got bashed about a lot which didn't happen in the back row so subsequent rides were all in the back (which had a negligible queue). The park is looking great - grass is green, the addition of the ring of astroturf under that big tree where the grass was always dead is a good call, repainted speed slides, repaired racer timers etc. The retheming of Rampage & Power Surge/Black Widow is great - I didn't really think I was a "theme" person, but it does make a difference. Does anyone know if the Rampage program changed? Maybe an extra spin on each run (four instead of three)? I found the G-forces a bit unpleasant (when combined with its uncomfortable restraints) which I don't remember from the past - but maybe it's just my age and the hangover I was sporting. Staff interactions were great all through the day. I rated the staff member who was operating the Freefall in the arvo not having any time for a bunch of dudes (all of whom were considerably bigger than she was) being difficult and not following instructions, got them into line quicksmart. Cheers for posting here Mark - I've lurked for a fair while and have enjoyed reading your posts. Hoping for a 4-seater Prosilde Tornado-style funnel ride for the new one - sure there are already a couple in Australia but they're great fun (and aren't crazy enough that they seem to scare away crowds like the Aqualoop).
