  1. Yes, Scooby is definitely in the suit of armour, although the section is not particularly well lit, so it's understandable to see why people may have not believed it to be there. I believe there is also a new voice prompt as you go past him, although it's been a while since I've last ridden.

All in all, I was pretty disappointed with the ride. Maybe I went in with high expectations, but even putting the mis-timed theming elements aside, I thought that the animations were quite poor, and the Disco Room was lacklustre. It just feels really dated. The new lighting in the Wild Mouse portion was a cool addition I thought, but it felt empty without the lasers, and was unnecessarily well lit. The whole experience was just a bit 'meh'.

  2. I believe the manufacturer is either AK Rides or Funlight, but I can't figure out if these are both the same company, and just trading under different names. The ride is of course safe, but the build quality is much different and cheaper than other manufacturers. It's not a massive deal, but in my experience, the Czech rides are more prone to breakdowns, systems tripping out, etc.

  3. Ranger is still looking pretty good, especially after it's latest refurb, although the Breakdance there (in its current state) is shocking IMO. Would love to see a showman buy that up and run it to its full potential.

The  Troikia is in a bit of a odd place. Whilst it still runs pretty well (yet still needs a massive visual overhaul), I doubt any showman would want to buy something so large, with nowadays travelling family rides usually fitting on to 1 - 2 trailers at the most, and being relatively easy to set up/pack down. I can't really see it staying in Australia either, as despite being a quality HUSS machine, many parks nowadays are looking to buy new rides that won't require immediate and constant attention.

  4. I doubt Joylands would sell their Power Surge, but if Luna Park bought one from Zamperla (which they seem to be doing nowadays - starting with the Flying Carousel), I would 100% support their discussion. I think it's an awesome ride which suits LPS very well, and Sydneysiders seem to soak the thing up when it comes in there temporarily!

  5. Can confirm that the ride coming to SW will indeed be Joylands Space Jam, asked a worker at the Fisher's Ghost Festival in NSW today and he said it would be going to Seaworld. Doubt the ride will be getting a repaint or a different coloured canopy, it's a travelling model owned by a travelling company, and they won't just change a fundamental part of the ride (including replacing light bulbs, etc.) to suit a park that they'll be situated in for a few months at best.

  6. Alright, I've done some sleuthing (based on Huss's comments haha) and I've discovered that the ride coming to Seaworld will most likely be 'Sky High' Star Flyer, manufactured by the Mardi Gras company out of the UK. It was owned by Michael Wallis Jnr and was sold to Australia sometime in July of this year. Unsure of who the Australian owner/operator is.

  7. Yeah I would absolutely love to watch the Spirits of the Carnival docco, but I can't find it anywhere online. I even emailed the company responsible for making the movie, but I received no response. Looks like it has some great footage on same of the lesser-known rides at Luna Park.

If the Love Express from Luna Park is indeed the model that OCS Fun traveled around Sydney, who the hell manufactured the thing?! The closest thing I can compare it to would be a Sobema Superbob mixed with a Mack Music Express?

  8. Yeah the ARM units have OTSR's @Jobe, that's one of the main reasons that I find them uncomfortable. They're still a great money maker for showmen, but I'm just not a huge fan. The HUSS unit however I've gotten to ride once, and from what I remember, I loved every second of it! I was pretty young though, which is a shame. Fingers crossed for Youngs unit, which I believe is currently being refurbished?

  9. Those particular units @Nimble are manufactured by ARM and are copied from the original HUSS machines. They give much worse rides IMO, and I've found them to clunky and sickening. I think there are about 5 or 6 of the ARM models here in Aus. On the other hand, the HUSS Rainbow gives a MUCH better ride, with some awesome floaty air and a smooth action.

  10. The Mack Tango Train was indeed called the Disco Train when it operated at Darling Harbour throughout the late 1980's and early 90's. Previously to being put in Darling Harbour, the ride travelled the show circuit with Wittinsglows, who also owned most rides at that were on the site. The picture shows the original ride during its stay in Darling Harbour.

Was the Love express a Mack Music Express? There IS a Music Express style ride called the Love Express owned by OCS Fun (same company that owns the Rainbow) that toured around Sydney during the early 2000's, and also made a rare appearance at the 2012 Fishers Ghost Festival in Campbelltown, however it isn't manufactured by Mack. The ride hasn't been seen for many years now , and is probably sitting out in someones paddock rusting away.

  11. I've only ridden the SBF  Tango Train once, and although I thought it was a fun ride with some nice forces, it seemed a hell of a lot rougher than the Mack Tango that I had ridden probably the year before. Granted, maybe I had a bad ride on the thing? But at the time for a 6-month old ride, it seemed way too bumpy.

I also think they should have invested on refurbishing the Mack model, however there could have been some external factors that resulted in us getting a new Tango Train, maybe it was deemed too expensive and simply buying a new one (keep in mind from a relatively cheap manufacturer) would be more viable?

  12. Thinking about making the trip up from Sydney to Movie World this year, and Fright Nights is on when i'm there, so I thought I might as well give it a go. Just a quick question, would you guys recommend the Ultimate Terror Tour ($150 option) as far as the overall experience goes? The Fast Track for the mazes and rides look great, but I'd love to hear some people's opinions to judge whether it's worth the money or not.

  13. With Disney, loose articles (including backpacks) are allowed on all their rides and can be either worn or placed on the floor on the coasters for example, some rides will even have a pouch for you to store smaller items such as wallets, keys, etc.

With Universal, there is a pretty strict no loose articles policy. Luckily,  there are free lockers located outside of some rides (the Mummy, etc). The time is calculated based on the wait time of the ride, with plenty more time given for you to collect your items. And of-course, there are paid lockers if you wish to store your bag or something for a little longer.
