  1. Yeah, I agree too. It looks pretty good, I like it.
  2. @Matt Griffith, no worries mate. If you've got any other questions, just ask someone on here is bound to know.
  3. Just out of curiosity, since you don’t want them to come back, what would you prefer in their place if anything?
  4. You never know, if you cross your fingers, and say pretty please, they might do something.
  5. Hey Matt, how are yah? Ok, holidays can be ok for theme parks, you just need to choose the right day. I’d personally go to MW on the first week of the holidays, as NSW etc. are still in school. Try and go on a week day, mid week is normally quietest, even know kids are on holidays, many adults still work. If you choose to go after school holidays remember that NSW in on school holidays one week longer, so go on the second week of school for Queensland. Once again middle of the week. Hope that helps mate, if you’ve got any more questions please feel free to ask.
  6. Hmm, well I should get my ears checked then, lol. Because I've honestly never heard it. @Spotty you might be one to ask, do you know why the visual and audible features of not just the rides but the park in general can get so ignored? In other words why are they sometimes so un-maintained? If you don't know that alright. Cheers mate, Yeah, its had bucket on it for a little while now, I can confirm it was working a week ago.
  7. That's good that their continuing that sandy path feature into this area. I know it's simple, but it looks good, at least in my opinion. @Ash, Happy Birthday to your son. I hope the area does get a bit of shade.
  8. Great find, I missed that, @Rivals said it's been going since 2015, I don't recall hearing it, it must not have been working on my visits. Something I noticed at 2:08-2:09 is the mine car control switch. It's back on the ride now, I thought it was new, but it was just a feature being returned. Begs the question, did they crane at the beginning of the ride move, like it does now? Or is that a new feature all together.
  9. Thanks, that makes sense. I don't know how good it would look, but putting in a screen or projection that shows the sparks would be cool. And since I'd be basically computer generated they probably wouldn't look like an angle grinder. But how I said it may look like crap.
  10. Thanks for that, I thought I was after the park closed, but I wasn’t sure. Never noticed the roof being black, I’ll definitely have a look next time I’m on the ride. I don’t remember it, but I have heard of the exploding and or expanding barrel. Here’s another interesting question, if it wasn’t for the fire do you think MW would still have the sparks?
  11. Well I was alive, but way too young to remember. I first went on WWF in the early 2000s (when the spark effects would have been working), but I have any recollection of them. I thought the ride wasn't in operation when the fire started, but I could be wrong, and you could be right. Wow, it's definitely a small world.
  12. Firstly @Noll_57, great find, credit where credit is deserved. Was awesome to see some footage of the spark effects on WWF, there's only one other video that I've seen that shows them. Do we know why they were removed? I heard it was because of the fire, but I do believe it was outside of park hours, so it couldn't have been caused by the sparks. Now, some of the credit for me doing this has to lay with @Ashley Jeffery, since he showed his old DW souvenir book, it inspired me to do the same. So, please be sure to thank him. Coincidentally, I've got that same book, but I also have an older one. Not sure of the year it came out, but it was before Whitewater World, so I'm going to guess 2005. The older one is on the left. A few pics of the inside of the older book. A close up of the writing if anyone is interested. Obviously it was still TOT not TOT2. In this image you can see a picture on the bottom left showing what Giant Drops theming once looked like, before it had deteriorated. Glad they're doing a reno on it. This is a pic from the newer book, along with the next picture. Whitewater World got a page at the very end of the book. The books remained pretty similar, apart from some changes on the front cover, the main picture changing, and a few other changes, it basically remained the same. I was a kid at the time of getting both of these books, and up until they stopped printing park maps I also once collected them, I only have DW maps. This is the oldest map I have, TOT2 was only brand new at the time. I once had a few other maps which were from the early 2000s, before Nick Central, unfortunely I lost them several years ago when moving house.
  13. At the moment, or at the least the last time I rode WWF, the bandits didn't start talking and or laughing until you've stun around and are about to go backwards. They use to start when first going into the mine shaft.
  14. Haha, not bad. Noticed that on my visit a week ago, I’m afraid I’ve got no idea.
  15. Thanks, @Noll_57, appreciate it. Yes, I have noticed the background music is quite short, but in all honesty I can’t say it really bothered me.
  16. Hey, Brad, how are you? You're a bit late to the party, I'm not going to respond anymore, because I've already finished debating this. So, please don't poke me, I'm trying to enjoy my zen and peace. Lol, not really, just trying to recover from an extremely busy day. You wouldn't have an answer to my question about the new feature on WWFs would you? That's good, glad you had a good time. I'm sorry to hear that Doomsday didn't open for you, it's not always the most reliable of rides. Haven't been on SE for a while now, but I do know when I last went on it, all the effects were working, so that defiantly counts for something.
  17. No, I can't say I have, not this time anyway. 😁 @franky, how was your day? Did Doomsday reopen for you?
  18. Fair point, but making me laugh as hard as I did, and smirk so much, is not easy, pat yourself on the back.
  19. Oh, I thought that queue was for aliens, of course I know what it’s for. I have NEVER said that it should cut wait times, read what I’ve said in previous posts. The obligation of staff is to keep all queues moving in a timely manner, safely operate the ride and safety board and un-board guests from the ride. Among other jobs. So, if there is a SRG, that’s also their obligation. Because it is a queue. 8 seats taken, 6 seats taken, there could be a group of 3. So, putting single riders on wouldn’t be necessary, if you’d read my previous posts you’d know that. Here’s the deal single rider queue’s are for people who are alone, and as you said to feel empty spaces, but, after a certain period of time you may need to use some single riders to keep that queue on the move. I said every 1-2 trains, but when I think about it a bit more that’s to much, make it every 3-4 trains, have at least 2 single riders, unless they have had single riders ride. Several years ago I was at DW going the rapids, the single queue was really full, they loaded almost a full raft of single riders, why, to keep that queue moving. You can’t always wait around for single spaces, as @New display name said after 7 trains of no single riders, they filled half of rivals with single riders. Why, to keep on top of it. Nothing abnormal there, my fingers are crossed that it opens up for you. Yes, it is different, but as you said “stuff sorts itself out”. I might be generalising it, but you said it. I said that it’s paramount to say that, if that’s the excuse you could use that with anything. So, the screens will sort themselves out. I’m sorry, but I forgot where I said it was the parks fault. It was simply a recommendation I made to the park, I didn’t accuse them of anything. I’ve seen 3 single riders go, but I’m talking about when no single riders have gone. I mentioned earlier in this post that 1-2 trains is a bit much, so I’m changing my thoughts to everything 3-4 or even 5 trains. So, if you get no single riders over the course of 5 cycles, pair 2 singles together. I’m simply suggesting they do what @New display name said happened with him when no single riders had rode for 7 cycles. Turns out they already have a system in place for that, but at the time of me making that recommendation, I didn’t know. Bu listen folks, I’ll save the trouble of a moderator getting involved and simply say where gonna have to agree to disagree, but how I said I’ve recently learned that they do put single riders through when they haven’t had any for while, so my recommendation was pretty pointless. To change the subject, wondering if someone can help me. I mentioned earlier that WWF has a new sound effect on the first lift hill, anyone who has heard it, do you catch what it says? I’ve cleaned my ears out to try and catch it, but I haven’t had much success, I can only catch “your the police, where have been”. Thanks.
  20. Agreed, I reckon they will open them together. Hahahahaha, sorry, but I just had let you know that I found that hilarious.
  21. Hopefully not too long. A bit difficult to say. I'm gonna put my money on the rough time frame @Rivals has put together, however, I think boxing day or the 27th, would be when it would open. When gardens are planted that's the sign that it's really close, and I don't think that'll be far off.
  22. Can't say I thought of the possibility of people abusing it, yes, that would defiantly be a problem. What I meant is if no single riders are needed send every 1-2 trains with some single riders. Sorta like they did with you, to me 7 trains with no single riders, is certainly bad luck, but if I was running the ride, I wouldn't have waited 7 trains before sending some single riders. "Stuff sorts itself out", ain't the best attitude with a theme park, because that's paramount to say, the Scooby Doo screens are not working all the time, but they'll sort themselves out, they don't cause problems all the time, so they'll sort themselves out. See what I mean? Yes, I agree people can leave the SRQ, if it's taking too long, but they shouldn't have too. There is an obligation to keep it moving, the job of a ride supervisor is to keep the queue or queues moving, Rivals has 4 queues, one is a priority queue, one is the backwards queue, it speaks for itself, the other is the main queue and finally there is the single rider queue. So, since this ride has a single rider queue, and since the the SRQ was open, the staff do have an obligation to keep it moving. It shouldn't move as quick as a priority line, cause it ain't but it should move at a decent pace, if that means only 1 rider per 2-3 trains that's fine. However, 1 rider per 5-6 trains is a bit of a joke. I think I waited a little bit longer than the main queue, I do believe I waited about 40mins, the main queue was around 30mins. Yes, it would mean guests in the regular queue have to wait slightly longer, but they already have to wait longer because there is a priority line, and guests need to understand there are 2 non priority queues, both of which need to move at a steady pace. Already covered part of your comment with my reply to Gazza, it's nothing personal, haha. I never said it's meant to go faster than the standard queue, I mentioned that earlier. I simply said that there are 2 non priority queue's they both need to move.
  23. I’m not saying that, that validates it. I’m just saying that’s why I mentioned it, as they were saying some things that I did agree with. One of those things were they should put a single rider or 2 on every 1-2 trains, simply to keep the queue moving. Otherwise, the queue will be end up getting too long. Well it would seem they already do that then, so there wasn’t much point in me mentioning that in my review. I’d just recommend they fill 2 seats with single riders, on every train or 2.
  24. Oh, yeah. Sorry, don’t mind my brief moment of stupidity. Well, let’s hope they do maintain it. But, their track record isn’t the best, still they can redeem themselves.
