  1. I woke up this morning with an idea. We should design and build our own theme park. Together as a community. Why should we leave it up to big corporations? Because with the fast growing Parkz community, this actually is possible. Currently there are thousands of members on Parkz right now, if each of us just put in an amount, we would have a pretty decent and competitive theme park. I reckon there are some great opportunities in some parts of Aussie and a second theme park in NZ would be extremely exciting for people! First of all, we could just start small. Maybe grab a Zampberla Disk 'O. Or a roller coaster. A few million each but we could easily raise it. Then use ticket sales to upgrade and expand our park. We all have a passion for theme parks! Imagine how cool it would be to create our own. Let's say we build a park for $50M start (not much I know, but we can expand later), we would only need 5000 people to put in $5000 each (OR we could partially loan this out). THIS IS POSSIBLE. What do you guys think? I reckon we can do it. PS (Not trying to sound like I am scamming or marketing a product, or taking the piss/being disrespectful. I have a genuine interest in this and I think it's possible)
  2. I had a look a few days ago up the giant drop. Not a change in the TRR site at all.
  3. First of all IF the mine ride was going to reopen they would probably make a whole new ride. That thing won't have the part availability, which was discussed more than 10 years ago and above. If it was rebuilt, it would turn out to be something like the gold rush at rainbows end, computerised. To me the chances of the original opening seems so slim that it's barely even worth talking about. Its almost impossible. If I own an original Macintosh computer it may still work for a long time but when it does need something replacing and there are no parts available I can't just go and say 10 years later that I'm going to fix it and have it working again. As for the Wipeout , in its current state right now the chances of reopening on June 28 seemed silly anyway. The whole ride is in pieces and this hasn't changed for a long time. Permanent closure may be possible but also unlikely considering it's popularity. Although the amount of operational issues it has is significant and expensive. I would just give it a couple more months. Although demolishing gold rush entirely minus buzzsaw would be a great idea, it just won't happen and we all know that. Thats what dreamworld is like.
  4. I was there yesterday and only the west side was operating. TOT seems unrelated, as I was told it was an operational issue with the launch mechanism.
  5. COW was closed today alongside with all of the other slides where sandblasting is occurring. Interestingly the waves were still cycling through, and the pool looked normal, but there were cones out and the Jets were not operating that come out of the ground. TOT reopened after thoroughly testing the ride today. Lots of rides closed due to wet weather which were reopened shortly after. The shockwave is having it's walls repainted. Mine ride is opening at the end of the year according to a staff member, however this may not be accurate.
  6. Tot has been closed due to operational failure. People had to be taken off the ride. Closed until further notice at this stage according to a staff member. Buzzsaw is currently closed now due to harnesses not locking in.
  7. Yesterday there were three maintenance workers seen walking into the log ride area, they entered the area and were looking at it a lot, just staring, talking and yelling at each other.
  8. Yes, was at Dreamworld today and they did around 20-30 tests this morning and reopened the TOT at around 3:30pm. The reason why the 3 slides are down is due to a pump failure, according to Dreamworld staff. Rocky hallow log ride is reopening before July 20, according to a staff member I spoke to, but this is probably not accurate. The claw was having trouble today due to it not swinging high enough, large amounts of maintenance workers were observing the ride and there were lots of test runs. The ride reopened after a short closure. The western side of the Giant Drop operated earlier today in the morning. Pink little rippers is still down after many months, and will require maintenance, will most likely open in the summer when visitor numbers increase. Had so much fun today Most of the ride is disassembled. The surfboards are hanging out at the 'bits and pieces' area of the park which is interesting. Lots of welding going on also.
  9. Super tubes hydrocoaster, the wedgie, and the green room are all closed 7-18 of June for maintenance. That is so disappointing, we are leaving for Aussie tomorrow and will be there from the 7-14. Wish they could just spread it out a bit...
  10. I asked Dreamworld whether the maintenance crew had decided roughly on a new opening date. Here's the response I got. So it's here to stay obviously, but at this stage a reopening is still undecided. Maybe the testing on the 2nd didn't go accordingly and something else needs to be done.
  11. Maintenance schedule was removed from the TOT on the Dreamworld website and is listed as closed. Strange...
  12. It was 2008, a fine sunny day at Dreamworld. After waiting in line for over 15 minutes, we hopped on the TOT (this was the one where you would ride forwards as it was 2008) Harnesses were checked and we were ready to go. BOOM! The ride launches. I was 13 at the time and immediately noticed that the ride was going really slow... the launch was around 1/4 the power as a regular cycle. "Mum, I think it's broken" "It'll speed up any minute" The ride continues to slow. The ride stopped in an outdoor part of the track, around 20M before the hill. I was a bit scared, wondering whether it will start working again or whether we would need to be rescued. Around 5 minutes later, two people, a man and a woman climb the ladder up to the track. We are told to remain seated and stay calm. The lady told me it'll be ok, and both of the staff comforted the passengers. Our harnesses released around 2 minutes after that, from the front to the back we had to climb down a staircase. A small crowd was there watching. The ride stayed closed for the rest of the day. We are going back to dreamworld in June, but sadly won't be able to ride this amazing ride again as it will be under maintenance. Anyway, that's just my story. Does anyone else have stories like this?
