I strongly disagree @New display namePerfectly hit the mark on How bad Movie World is at the moment. This didn't start yesterday it started over a year ago so why do you defend them it bogles the mind🤨 .

    Tell me about it

my son just asked to go this afternoon, I brought up the maintenance schedule (strangely not opening on the app so you have to go on the website)

Only rides beyond toddler ones open are Road Runner, GL and JL.

he says “you can’t count JL as everything in it is always broken, what is wrong is movie world these days”.

From an 11 year old who is also fed up haha

He is not wrong about JL lmfao I really hope Movie World fix theses issues I miss the magic it use to have.

How does the operator being present change anything tho? The belt is either in or out how does a visual inspection + tugging on the seatbelt compared to an attendant watch you doing it make insurance any happier?

Are you joking?. Most of these rides have manufacture requirements that team members are instructed to check all belts with a visual inspection and pulling to check the belt is secured. You see it on DC Rivals and ST Mack rides have said The staff have to be the one to plug in the belt riders cant that is in line with their requirements. This doesn't include the Work place rules in Australia.

    Few things

I would argue that I prefer a company being blatant when price gouging as its easier to see and then just, avoid them.
That is the benefit of a society that has a competitive market.

Additionally, yes you should have reported how you were treated. Up to you how you report that, reporting specifically the individual staff member, identifying them leaving them open to punishment ect. or reporting unfriendly, unhelpful staff in general showing a wider range of bad culture.

And the thing is, you're still able to report him now. Movieworld are in the data game. They have in their logs when you went, they know who is rostered on at what times and where. You can report unfriendly staff at any point.

The thing is I don't know who to blame I'm not saying what the staff are doing is acceptable by any means but they seem really unhappy at the moment which is sad to see for their sake. The workplace culture there looks horrible and I hope it improves for everyone's sake. Thanks for letting me know  about the reporting thing if anything like that happens again I probably will put in a report.

I haven't had any issues with platform buckets during my travels 😕

Just because you haven't had any issues with platform buckets doesn't mean anyone else wont. The storage boxes at all the parks say you leave your items at your own risk they wouldn't put that there if people haven't stolen before.

Oh, I see what you mean now - so you're referring to a period prior to the large swathe of current closures, which, judging by how long ago it was, potentially was in the middle of the easter period, where most rides currently closed were in fact open?

The person spent their day at the park without making any effort to speak to someone in guest services, and only after they left, did they appear to email the park to complain.

On an unrelated note, I can't wait to go to the cinema, watch the entire movie, go home, and then email them to ask for a refund because in hindsight, I didn't like what the movie was about.

If you're looking for evidence of their refund policy in reviews, you won't find it. Usually because the people who request a refund don't slag the company off on review sites. Even if the park does offer some sort of compensation, it will be done behind closed doors - they'll PM the person and make it right privately because if they post publicly what they offer someone, it tends to have a steamroll effect.

The company has a 'no refund' policy on their website, however that is essentially for change of mind \ matters beyond control of the park such as weather. If a person has purchased tickets based on the marketing of "over xx shows, rides and attractions...." and arrives to 70% of the park closed, thats a fundamental change to the service you signed up for. And the park knows their obligations under ACL.

If we apply the above to the services offered by the park, a remedy is available under ACL. Businesses won't advertise this, and you should know your consumer rights well. The park might argue that you saw the sign out the front and chose to enter, but the sign out front doesn't always show every closure, given maintenance may not have finished morning checks when you've lined up.

But if you enter the park, wander around for an hour or two and realise just how much is wrong - and you go to guest services to raise the issue - you will be entitled to a remedy under ACL. If a refund is what you want, then you should stand firm on that and specify that's what you want, and why. Emphasise what you wanted to do when you visited and why that isn't possible.

If you come out 30-40 minutes into a movie and complain to the manager that something is wrong with the film, they will generally refund you. But you do not watch the movie all the way to the end credits, go home and then email the cinema the next day asking for your money back.

I stand by my original assessment - you're making a big assumption.

I fully agree with you I did make a assumption and going of google reviews is not  practical I own that mistake.

But I'm being serious at least from my point of view it seems like Village Price gouge on everything. Now every corporation does that. Dreamworld do it to but they big difference is that they are not as blatant at doing it. Movie World has increased prices and decreased their offerings. it seems like everything at Movie World is a up charge and all the free attractions are in a horrible state. Removing VQ and keeping fast track is what put the nail in the coffin for me.

I don't know where to go from this but every time I go to Movie World I feel ripped off. I went with my good friend a couple of Months ago and we went on Wild West Falls as we sat down he still had his hat on. The staff member  asked him to remove it but he didn't hear as he has bad hearing and the staff member made a comment calling him deaf and when he said it again he did it. But people don't pay $200 to get in to get treated like that. We didn't report him but we should have.

Wrong. 100% wrong. At the most they would only ever want to have 2 majors at a time closed unless something ever went wrong.  The general schedule was:

Lethal Weapon / Arkham (After Aust day till early March) > Superman / Batwing (Early march till Easter holidays) > Scooby and RoadRunner after easter holidays > Wild West Falls from June till around August in prep for holidays. Then it would be Tunes / Batride between September and November.

After November they would try to have all rides open and getting ready for the xmas holidays. Obviously with more rides sometimes a weekend (or maybe a single week with 3 rides closed) did happen but it was really avoided as much as possible. Only in the last 4-5 years have we really seen this many closures happening on a regular and it's 100% not acceptable.

I really think at this stage, the park would be better running weekends and holidays only until they can catch up on things as it's absolutely pathetic the way the place is being ran.

At this point they shouldn't even be open on weekends they need to get their shit together.

If people are paying full price for the park and not even getting half the park its amazing people haven't reported them to scam watch and things like that considering they probably don't give refunds.

Its so disappointing with current state the park is in. And with all the bad reviews a lot of them I see talk about how rude and anti social the staff our. If the staff cant even put a slight smile on their face you know your in for a rough day.

Except, I can’t recall the last time I rode DCR when these weren’t shut off and used as nothing more than weirdly shaped cubbyholes. Which, IMO, would be the major issue with anything that’s mechanical & not necessary for the ride to operate, no matter how simple or complicated it may be, it’s upkeep will fall to the wayside & be replaced by (or used as) a system that doesn’t need any extra attention/care to operate.

In the event of a Superman overhaul, and under the mutual assumption that they weren’t to keep the separate load/unload station, I’d imagine the loose article system they’d opt for would be similar to Leviathan/Steel Taipan/Storm: A bin/wall with compartments for riders to store their loose articles, with a sliding door that covers at least half of these compartments at all times, which may or may not be slid across by a ride operator between dispatches.

In the scenario that they overhaul Superman, but keep it’s load & unload stations the way they are, I’d again imagine that they’d shy away from an overly complex system like on Yukon Striker, instead opting for the significantly simpler setups like what’s on Velocicoaster/Steel Vengeance/Jet Rescue/Motocoaster: Right before boarding, loose articles are placed into a double-sided cubbyhole or (free) locker, and are retrieved from the other side via the ride exit path.

I think you nailed it. Either way I only ever go on SE when its quiet cause standing in a 1-hour que with no phone is annoying. Me like most people hate ques but when you can't even carry your phone with you just drives me insane. I don't use my phone that much unless I have nothing else to do.

Which I think is a good thing because they’re trying to target a family audience and being less corporate and relatable is what (I think) a lot of families like to see. However I think these recent posts in the lead up to their ‘Buy 3, Get 1 Free’ campaign has gone a bit too far the other way and is heading towards being unprofessional. And looking at how the posts have done, which isn’t very well, I’d imagine that impacts the exposure of the fact that this campaign is happening. And at the end of the day, they’re trying to get annual pass sales up to get more people in the get, and experimenting with their marketing style might have not been the best move.

Take their ‘40 Day Giveaway’ campaign as an example. Nearly every day they were posting about it and they were involving their team members and that whole campaign did very well and was well received online and I don’t think any of the content was cringy. Which lead to the giveaway day bringing in some of the biggest crowds the park has seen in a while (partly because you had to be there to win the major prize, however almost everyone was there because it well marketed and people knew about it and wanted to win).

I do hope that marketing take some notes from what Village have been doing with Flash for Rivertown. They’ve so far done a good job with teasing what’s to come and revealing some amazing concept artwork, but when it comes to track install, testing, etc it would be good to see that. But also, because a lot of Jungle Rush will be in doors, don’t give too much away because I’m sure it will be an amazing surprise (like we had for Leviathan).

Dreamworlds marketing recently has been horrible. It would be great to seem they do what Village is doing but with their own kick. I Rember watching their old vids on YT back in the day and they were awful as well. From memory that segment was called Dreamworld insiders I'm pretty sure.  It was the cringiest thing ever and not in a good way 🤣.

I find the launch on ST boring. Hopefully the sheer speed of TT2 makes it less like ST.

Considering there both different rides they are going to be completely different. I don't know what you mean by making it less like ST it's going to be faster obviously to get them at the top so its a stupid to compare the 2.

Meh… I made an innocent mistake, I apologised genuinely and sincerely and people on here want to carry on like they’ve never made a mistake in their lives.

If stacking on me makes people feel better about themselves, stack away.

Don't worry Brad @New display name is doing this because he always gets called out for bs leaving @DaptoFunlandGuy to pick up his pieces of bs.

everyone makes mistakes and what you said really wasn't that bad people just need to move on.

In all honesty, I don't know why parks target openings to occur bang on peak periods. There are inevitably teething issues and the ride's reputation is made or broken in that first peak rush.

Open it in the off season, give your operators time to bed down the processes without a 3 hour queue of angry families behind them, and iron out the kinks. Advertise the hell out of it and get soundbytes and reviews from real actual guests, rather than stupid rhetoric from the C Suite for your marketing - anyone planning a last minute trip for the next holidays might see that and decide to go as a result.

I agree with this fully. The main issue with the way the parks does it now is that it almost never opens in time for when it was marketed for and then throw in the issues and kinks every new ride has makes it a bad look for guest to see it closed during peak times when the extra capacity is needed.

Lethithan  is a perfect example of this the delays and the constant down time of construction killed the buzz and hype of its opening. Ultimately when it did open it was having constant issues with extended periods of downtime and the media had a frenzy talking about the disappointment of people flying from other parts of the country to ride it for it to be closed.

Operating costs aren't that important if you're attracting enough guests, which you won't do if you keep rides closed.
