Yeah, that Pirates looks absolutely breathtaking. Still can't work out how they do the effect at 2:36 of the video you posted, if anyone knows please enlighten me :P .

It's 'just' a peppers ghost effect. Definitely one of the best executed examples of peppers ghost I've seen!

It would be unusual for a brand to commit to infrastructure costs on a property they do not own as if the contract was terminated, they would have to walk away from the funds invested...

Interestingly, Apple does contribute to infrastructure costs of their third-party 'Premium Reseller' network. Agree that this is a highly unusual occurrence.

Might all be one parent company, but from what i've heard from a friend at the film school they are all separate entities now. Would not at all be surprised if movie world actually had to pay for studio time to utilise the sound stages for fright nights. It's more like pushing numbers around on paper, but I don't think the park and studios are mutually exclusive anymore. Looks more like the studios are leased, with the production companies basically having the run and control of the site, who they contract in for work, having their own management, budgets, etc.

Separate entities != separate lots of land...

  4. I'd love to see an Intamin Mega-Lite - they are just slightly taller than Corkscrew (28m vs 31m), so is within the realm of possibility of being within Sea Worlds height limit. They are super thrilling (I'd easily rate them in my top 10) whilst not looking particularly intimidating to bystanders.  If it can be worked to fit around the monorail, I think there is enough space just on the south end of the Corkscrew plot to fit one in...

  5. It's also only a long weekend for people who work in the Brisbane CBD, if you work outside the exclusion zone, you still have to work!

Friday is a public holiday for everyone that works in the Brisbane City Council area, not just the CBD exclusion zone. As it is a public holiday, many workplaces (especially retail) will still be open and staff may be required to work.

  6. I was there last night too (although not with Terror Tour - boo - will definitely be doing it next year!) and agree, she was probably the creepiest character of the night - went through Ripper twice and only saw her playing dead the second time, so certainly not just being lazy!
