  1. Does not appear to have any support connection brackets for this piece of track...
  2. That is going to stand out like crazy from the highway...it will be a calling card for the park the same way The Thunderbolt was for DW. @Skeeta did you happen to see if there were more supports already bolted together on the ground in that area? Just wondering if we will see the same amount of progress in this area tomorrow? Was looking at this great picture and with a bit of imagination gives a perspective of how high the ride will be at the lift hill, as it should be about level with Batwing Spaceshot in the background...can't wait. Thanks again for the pics @Theme Park Girl, awesome.
  3. Thanks @Brad2912, i also noticed more of the lower supports leading into the large supports near the large sign. I was blocked out in traffic so was not able to get in for more photos, glad you got that new support towards the turn around area though not sure what could be there now...need more supports to help figure it out.
  4. Apologizes ladies and gents, these are not my best work by a long way...need to get to the park early next Sunday to be better positioned to get new shots of the station area, however until then, these are the better shots (fence still in shot though) of the supports in the station area as promised...the joys of a 500mm lens. Also it looks as the next support near the entry sign could be a 4 piece unit from base to tower, being taller than the current one, but it is only a guess, i would assume this might go up in the next 4 days. The top plate on this one is slightly offset from square although it might not show in the photo.
  5. I see what your saying @Skeeta, will put the engineering hat on when I get to site today. Think I need to see in person before I have any more thoughts about the layout of the track.
  6. https://rcdb.com/10748.htm#p=72901 is it just me or do the supports look very similar for an overbanked turn? will be down the coast today with the long lens so will see what photos I can get of the station supports.
  7. Have to agree with @themagician on the GL closure. When we are using a 50m crane, the exclusion zone for access is a min of 75m around the crane. So I would assume that due to the proposed height of the ride, and the height of the crane, the GL entrance area etc would be within the exclusion zone during this period. So call it assumption based on facts of construction process perhaps? Just a thought.....
  8. Could it be that this piece of track above is due to connect to the first piece in the below picture? The track lines up from what I can see and it would explain the double connection part on the far end of the track? Just a thought.
  9. So based on the information from the photos (number 4 & 7) it looks like it is from these guys here... http://www.aksteel.com/pdf/markets_products/carbon/AK AlmT2 Acceptance 201309.pdf Drainage culverts, however I still cant figure out the access panels in the photos being connected at the angles they are...more research required I think.
  10. Guys, I think a little calming down here is required. I have had equipment delivered the next day after arrival and I have had some stuck in customs on the dock for two weeks after the original delivery. It all boils down to customs and when they release the items. Normally they will lay out the parts in such a way to allow for the best installation times (first part required is closest to exit etc). as you would a large Lego set ( we did notice this during Cyclone and Superman constructions). Perhaps the parts that have arrived first are intended to be first delivered due to being last installed? And maybe they are still going through the containers to ensure the next parts delivered are in the correct order for how they want to install? Only a thought I know, but this is how we assemble our larger items that get contained over for our projects.
  11. I would have to agree @Brad2912, it is a character from Teen Titans cartoon show called Raven (thanks to my kids for that one). Tied into the DC world, but not one many people would know....but the colours fit
  12. Got a couple of ideas about this one....Lets assume its a DC related toon so how about.......just a thought.
  13. Magenta track and pink and blue trains, could be Harley and Joker themed? Starting to want the trains to arrive now to put an end to this torment.....
  14. Do we know it is only going to be a single colour track? Now that would be a blast, the next pieces turn up in a different colour completely... Just a thought.
  15. Well i guess I will be breaking out the camera gear for a road trip on the weekend....cant wait for the supports to arrive.
  16. Hey...we don't all look like that....at least not when things are going well
  17. @djrappa no apology required Just can't wait for this thing to start to go vertical. Tried to find out some information this week from our normal crane company but my contact was very quite on the subject...will try again next week.
  18. Normally orange is for Mechanical, but the last couple of years we have had the orange requested for all locations due to it standing out and being easy to identify. @YLFATEEKS there will always be another ride being built we can talk about...somewhere in the world. Oh and the track comment was only based on a rough gantt chart I did one day that would allow the ride to open in September as advertised...it is truly only a guess based on the time it takes us to put together some of the bigger lighting towers etc.
  19. Switchboard colours are getting more varied dependind on the requirements of the client. I have worked on everything from Blue, Orange, Green, Clear coat stainless...the list goes on. Even had one hand painted after install to blend in with the rest of the shop wall... It MAY be replaced prior to the ride opening depending on if it has a large enough capacity to handle the load of the new ride. The new lights would not be a concern as far as load goes as I would assume they would be an LED fitting (getting nice and cheap from major suppliers now). As far as track, i might put it out there that we would see something in the "Site Yard" area in the next two weeks....just a guess, but with some knowledge behind it.
  20. From the documents I have seen, they expect the region to have between 1-2 million visitors (including regional residents) through the Gold Coast region over the 2 week course of the games. I am guessing that they are including the normal visitors for the Gold Coast in their estimates...why it was in docs for venue lighting I have no idea....sadly came second on that tender anyway as it would have been a hell of a job.
  21. Very true Alex, although depending on your WPHS site rep, they are starting to outlaw these as a fall risk...bit of a joke if you ask me as riser posts have been used for years without too much trouble. Still cant wait to see the first delivery onsite...might even go for a drive this week to our Gold Coast site just so I can drop into the park on the way back.
  22. So we have the toilet block, site office and lunch room all ready on site. I would guess they would use a stand alone generator onsite to power these for the duration required, unless they are able to get across the road from the old switchboard somehow. These normally turn up about 1-2 weeks before the crews start onsite as they are mandatory required items...seen the shade set up on a couple of sites around, bloody good little idea you appreciate on a hot day, trust me.
  23. Or a crap load of space to be exact... So if i recall the land used for Superman, the supports were mostly inside and the track outside? Damn old man memory...need to hunt down that hard drive with the original pictures. So looking at this area, reminds me of the Cyclone first install at DW, but that also included an area for a weld and paint shop, so this is a major amount of equipment...perhaps they might move the site sheds into this area also?
