The way it fits into both Voodoo and Volcano Bay is one thing I love as well, they put in the effort to make it cohesive (cough cough Superman next to Wizard of Oz)

Hang on a sec, the themed land has to transition at some point doesn't it? The whole park cant be superman themed, nor WoZ themed.

What attractions are on the other side of Volcano Bay or Voodoo, are they also tribal/island themed? If not, how is this any different?

Actually, I'll answer my own question @TBoy ....If it's ok to Have Gravity Wave / Supernova next to Volcano Bay, therefore it's ok to have Superman next to WoZ.

I didn't forget it, I was ignoring it as an option for the budget conscious. There's been lots of discussion lately about the park doing things to minimise additional \ unnecessary expenses. So I didn't really consider that mature plants would be an option as they tend to cost a lot more to purchase, transport and install.

You can buy them them cheaper when smaller, store them, look after them, let them grow for a few months and then plant when ready.

  3. I take the post as being more of a word of warning for things you might not necessarily expect to think about.

The one about taking 40-50 mins to get anywhere actually kinda resonates. The transport network is amazing, but for the most part it tends to run all stops in central areas so not always quick, so factor that in when hopping about, another factor is that huge Imperial palace complex, which means all the subway lines go around it, so not necessarily always direct A to B.

Likewise, when I've booked hotels I tend to just get lazy and put my details in, so a 2nd person may be an issue if you forget to do that.

  4. I think when people talk about successful 500 cycles, they are talking about the final stage where you are "stress testing" the ride and just running it non stop. The final box to tick, so to speak. You'd hope the ride was stopping in the right place every time by that point.

All this finer calibration you mention where you measure stopping positions, individually test circuits etc happens early on.

    Thanks.

So by my reading, construction hoarding would meet the requirements under the regs provided it was suitably signposted?

I would think so, I mean think of all those travelling rides where the fencing is just standard crowd barriers you see at New Years Eve.

  5. The thing that bugs me about RWS is that the layout is too spread out, and presumably all that space has to be cleaned and maintained (And heck built in the first place)

It's literally a 500m walk between the raft slides and the racers

But you go to WnW and its "full" and doesnt have these massive areas of empty paving and flat grass or bark chips.

Sure - but I don't think it should be - its the perfect spot for it, it takes new riders unawares, the blades make people think they're going to hit them so they're a little afraid, and the car is tilted in a way that all riders are unobstructed for the camera.

I also don't think the doors being in a high(er) speed place where there's no safety brake in case the doors fail to open is a good idea - if the doors fail, you either crash into the door or theres a new brake that results in a valley?

There's nowhere else in the ride that has sloped red walls like this, so I'm not sure of the reason for denying the doors being there.

I can see the doors have a seam at the edge so im presuming its like the doors on Test Track where they normally slide apart, but if they fail to open there are spring loaded hinges so they function like old ghost train school crash doors.

The second stage features the development of a luge ride between the Base and Summit Stations. The proposed track system will include an arrival and departure platform located beneath the Summit Station on a closed loop. The track is designed to utilise the natural slope of the land, offering an exhilarating experience while minimising environmental impact. The track will be built in an area that is already clear of vegetation and will use environmentally sensitive fixings to preserve the native landscape, and is part of our long-term strategy to reduce erosion and revegetate the lift line.

    Big if true.

As the crow flies, its already 1km between the base and summit stations, by road its 3km (following a more steady gradient down the hill)

It could well be one of the longest Alpine Coasters in the world, no matter which way you cut it.
