Only way i can see them going hydraulic is if the rails for the catch car were bolted ontop of the ties just depends on how much clearance there is from the height of the dog on the train to the height of the rails there quite possibly is enogh room for a low profile catch car

I love the looney Tunes River ride, but it is in desperate need for some higher end disneyesque animatronics as the current ones tend to be faulty due to age and are also extremely not fluid in motion and have very basic actuatiors and pneumatics which are very much dated and don't provide any sense of natural movement which the ride really needs, which can be dissapointing. The animatronic technology isn't anywhere near as expensive as it used to be as demonstrated by what you can do with lego these days.

I personally rather high res shots as you get a better perspective and you are able to see more detail and zoom in Just thinking about the launch point, it maybe possible to run 2 rail and ties launch track design because it probably will not have eddie current rollback breaks so it doesn't need the distance for the pneumatic jacks which the brake fins are connected to. Also the hydraulic motor for this particular ride will be quite small i'd say looking at the requirement for the vekoma hydraulic launch motor which fits into a particularly small cargo container. I'd say if it were going to be a LIM launch the fins would have been preattached at manafacture just like the surfrider at WnW, and if it were LSM I supposed it would have to have massive transformers and powersupplies foundation work for the tranformers due to the large power requirement of LSM. Who knows though could even end up being friction wheel launch. Although I don't know how cheap that amount of friction wheels would be compared to the cost of a hydraulic launch.

Construction update

Photos i took around MW tuesday, said that Loonytunes river ride was undergoing refurbishment.

Motorsport is very much a part of australian culture and has a tremendous following. Ofcourse not everyone enjoys it, but the majority of australian will at least show slight interest in some type of motorsport whether it be V8s, indy champ cars, Lemanns, formula 1, moto GP etc. In particular Australians' have a grand tradition with V8 sedans and utes, the fight between Ford vs Holden. It is part of australian culture, may not be everyone's thing, certainly isn't something I watch obsessively but a tremendous amount of people do and motorsport is part of what is representative of australian culture. Now just some photos from tuesday.

I agree completely about the concreting in mainstreet, in my own view I think the most attractive option would be cobbling. Cobbling doesn't wear out, has cosistant colour, is traditional, adds charm to an area and I really thing would bring out the charm of the area as compared to the ugly cracked concrete and bitumen.

Will you guys stop criticising something that you haven't seen in real life. NB colours are selected as such to represent a MotoGP race, therefor ofcourse the cars are multiple colours and i'd say that they'd have a variety of decals on them as well to represent the racing nature and culture of the sport and the ride. Also bright colours atomix use are very typical of themeparks and based on the look of archetecture in dreamworld is very typically disney styled. I'd say the dark grey is to represent tarmac and bright yellow well if not for any other reason is strongly contrasting to dark grey/black and looks good together.

I think it's quite likely that they will have inline unload/load docks which like the superman escape should keep the queue moving pretty fast. Having dual stations usually makes locker/storage a bit difficult, I hope they don't use superman escapes solution having pay lockers. I am sure there is a perfectly good alternative possbily similar to claw/wipeouts storage solution.

I've been thinking about the name and I initially didn' like it, but it has grown on me, and I must say it is nice to have a themepark ride associated with an australian name instead of some american generic name. It keeps the ride associated with australian culture which i think recently the park has been missing. Oh and i like the logo, nb it looks very inline with atomix style. Also been thinking of other family thrill rides. Expedition everest is a family thrill ride and it's still a great ride. I will stick with what i said from the beginning, it's going to be fun.

I don't know whether you agree but i think it might make more sense if it were Mick Doohan Moto Coaster (MotoGP). Not to say that i know a lot about motorbike racing more a car fan.

Wouldn't be all surprised if the theming is done by atomix, they seem to have built up quite a relationship with dreamworld.

Intamin over shoulder restraint (OSR) was designed to provide the safety of over shoulder restraint but with the freedom (illusion) of movement that a lapbar provides. The main point on contact on this design is down on the lap, where as other more standard restraints use the shoulders as main point of contact. Intamin OSR in most circumstances shouldn't ever make contact with the shoulders except when there are strong negative G forces where the the rider is lifted by airtime and requires the restraint to do as named. The fault in design as was mentioned is when the rollercoaster has lateral force effects because the restaint crosssection is a very shallow elipse sitting horizontally, which is comfortable on the shoulder by if your neck is forced against it can be very uncomfortable. Personally i find if you hold the handgrips tight enough you don't have a problem. It means though u can't throw ur arms up!!! Probably wouldn't be tremendously hard to alter the design slightly. Also regarding leathal weapon. Queueing on it was HORRIBLE. The second train is in pieces and alot of the parts are missing, probably going to be replaced by the look of things, but they need to get hurrying on as the ride's capacity using 1 train is horrid.

It's all bloody speculation. None of you know any facts regarding the temporary closure of this ride simply because no one has been told. I don't see the point in making an argument on this subject when none of you have the facts to back it up.

Dreamworld Ride Op - without meaning to offendI'd really like to know your source, yes you work for dreamworld which is great, but you aren't management and I know that MLT and maq bank like to keep things a little secret. Also please note that intamin has never manafactured a rollercoaster of this type before - nor do they have any public specifications for it out as far as i am aware appart from the fact that its an accellerator with motorcycles and sidecar. I have been keeping a keen eye on it and unless its a really slow launch its still going to pull some forces and maintain a highspeed due to its low profile... probably a family thrill ride as richard was mentioning and i'd say it'd be quite fun.

Looks like it has a switch track. maybe for dual station? Looking forward to riding this thrill ride. Also use of box or triangular track segments aren't really nessicary large scale rides have used a smaller and probably quite alot cheaper track system including a 10 inverter. I'm pretty happy with it atm.
