Future Additions for Gold Coast Theme Parks
New display name replied to themeparklover's topic in Theme Park Discussion
I'm on the phone at the moment and do not have access to a computer. If no one puts it up by tomorrow I will go online and get the plans for it. In relation to the big brother house. If the house gets removed it does not mean the show will be cancelled. It could be a great chance for them to rebuild the house/shed. -

Dreamworld sold that land a few years ago for the new town centre. This might be the last year that the house is there. I've uploaded a google image above with the boundaries on top. Most people already know this but for people who don't. Dreamworld sell off was going to go across the car park in front of the house. When Dreamworld went to sub-divide the land to sell it. The qld government wanted the land on either side of the creek given to them. Which means no one could ever build near the creek. Dreamworld did not end up selling the land near the creek and because the boundary did not change around the creek they did not have to hand it over to the government. This leaves Dreamworld with a lot more land then people think they own. -

I know it's a long way off but I think the best idea is for me to go this year and find out. If anyone has been? I would like to know how it is run and if it's any good. -

When I first finished uni I worked for the government designing new schools. This was before it was qbuild and I don’t know what it is now. Your department worked on the system that you spent all the money you had and if you had money left over you would lend it to other departments of government so it showed on your books that you needed the same amount of funding next year. If you did not spend all your money it would be cut next year. We would have schools ready to go even if we did not have the funding for it because you might get a call from another department wanting to get rid of some money. That was a long time ago and would not know how it works now. I would be almost certain that each division would get a set amount each budget. That division would want to spend all the money they had so they would get the same amount next time around. My main problem is why does every division have to do a carols and if they do would it not be better to get a community group to do it. The money that went to Dreamworld is not the same as the carols because if I want to see it, then I have to pay up. -

I wasn't having a go at Movie World. I'm more having a go at the council. I think I should of put this into chitchat. The real question for me is how many carols in the Gold Coast do we need. Across the road the local council is spending 250000 on lights for the local football club. In my thinking why not have the carols there if you have to have it. They could have players selling things to help with the lights. Movie world being a business would not be doing it unless they are getting something out of it. In relation to how much of the rate rise is going in would be very little but across all carols does add up. The main carols are held at the Gold Coast parklands. If movie world want to do there own carols for the coast then they should carry the cost. It's fine to say there costing 100000 and the council only paying a fith but if we don't need them in the first place then it's no advantage. -
I don't understand governments. You tell us to tighten up our budgets. Rates increase well over inflation. You give places like MovieWorld money when there profit is up 10.9% to put on carols. If times are tough and there is a need to raise rates, do we really need carols in every street and did anyone ask MovieWorld if they would still put the event on if the council did not put any money in. Dreamworld also received a payment not long ago from the QLD government.

This is a first for me but this is what Dreamworld have driven me to. I would be wiling to pay an up charge for a new ride to help pay it off. The ride of course would have to blow my mind. Dreamworld already add charges for a lot of things and as long as they stoped charging for it once it was paid off would be worth it. You could incorporate this charge into the yearly passes. One pass could be the spin and spew pass and the other pass could be blow your mind pass.

I would prefer them to have saved there money with the last few rides.. For every 3 rides they could of brought one descent ride. On a side note the current owners have not put in any great rides that make me want to go. I think the laser show was a waste of money. It only looked good for the first time while the people who installed it where running it, v8 cars, laser tag remodelling and the IMAX. The list goes on and on for me. If they didn't waste all this money then what could they have brought by now.

They can be extended if you apply before they run out. Council would be very keen to get a start date if an extension was granted. If an BA has lapsed as in this case more the 3 years then council would ask for a new application. Reports written for the application would be not be current and would have to be reproduced to current requirements. I have also heard the rumours for accommodation for the parks and I have heard a lot of rumours of late of accommodation being built on Saganto drive for the parks. -

AlexB a DA approval only last two years. If nothing has started within that time frame than a new application needs to be lodged. WWW application would have also lapsed by now for stage 3. The application for stage 3 at WWW would of cost around 40000 dollers, being my best guess. -
Yep all 4 mags stolen.

A family came out of MW today to find there car like this.

The company that Dreamworld has to do there approvals seem to take along time to notify council. If you look up the bz or big brother house you will see by the dates on pdonline would not line up. I last looked around one week ago and nothing was up for the big brother house but I know that construction has already started on it. Might even be that Dreamworld has told the company they use not to send the information on to council to stop us finding out lol. . Justice league is there you just have to know where to look. Sometimes when looking for this stuff you have to think like the person who updated the system. For example some approvals for Dreamworld you can find if you look up Dreamworld. If you look up Ardent Leisure you will find other approvals for Dreamworld that does not mention Dreamworld at all. I think it comes down to what the person at the time writes on the application. If you look up Dreamworld it has the new town centre under it but we all know Dreamworld does not own that land and it should be under Westfield. Some of mw approvals are under village road show and I have even seen some under wnw.
