  1. i think Tower of Terror has some awesome theming going into it, but could be so much better if they tried. the whole metal and darkness theme needs to be expanded. if they tried they could make it like your in a city a bomb has just gone off or some sort of disaster and the only way out is this super fast devilish looking big metal car. already they have it really dark and black in there. just add a bit more theming and such and it would be so awesome. Bermuda triangle is one of the best rides when it comes to theming. from the moment you enter the queue line you know whats going on. the theming around the ride outside as well is great. go in watch the movie (the theming in the movie hut is great as well) then go down onto a deck to be sent on your mission. the theming all the way through is great as well. what im saying is Dreamworld could turn good rides like tower of terror or giant drop into better rides like bermuda triangle, through the use of a bit more theming.
  2. i am off to seaworld sometime in the next week- currently in brisbane bowling the Australian Junior nationals, we are heading down to the gold coast tomorrow. i will check it out then and try and sus some info out of a few people there, after my helicopter flight and seal adventure..... hopefully if i ask enough people i might get some sort of info.
  3. i work at bunnings (yes i know poor dont laugh....) and we get 15% off tickets to all the theme parks through our union, SDA... not too shabby i spose
  4. ok just getting back on topic quickly has anyone heard anything about this, whether its gotten through concil or whether theres any work going on yet?
  5. i remember seeing that show for the first time when i was 5.... now 12 years on ive been up to the gold coast 10 times but unfortunately havent been since i was 14 or 15... thats all bout to change in exactly 16 days hahaha. but i remember every year going and looking forward to PA. as soon as you go in and the police guy with the whistle is there revving the crowd up you know your in for a bucket of laughs. no matter how many times ive seen it i could never grow tired of it. in some ways PA cant be replaced. it had the mix of stunts, comedy and importantly crowd involvement. as has been said there are big shoes to fill. i just hope that the new show involves just as much laughs and just as great stunts. also some of the driving in PA was awesome. to be able to control cars like that sideways in a confined area is somethin i say and it speaks wonders about the crew there... however nothing is gonna be able to replace the cop at the start with the whistle... i hope they actually move it to a bigger better arena. i doubt they could enclose it if its involving vehicles, in the unfortunate event of one of them blowing up, you dont wanna be in that building. if they keep it in the same spot it sorta seems tacky in a way to just cover over the top. tear down whats there and put up a new attraction. last time i was up there both looney tunes world and the wild west were lookin tacky. its been ages since a new themed area was opened up so i think that definately needs to be done. hopefully with the arrival of a new roller coaster or thrill ride this will be done.... fingers crossed...
  6. well after reading all this i decided im going to throw my 2 cents worth into the bowl as well... alot of dreamworld is currently resting on Big Brother. the sooner that raps up, the sooner they can bring in a few cat bulldozers. once thats out of the way, i reckon watch out as they head north. either they will chuck some rides in there, or even possibly go out behind the old paddle steamer a bit more. last time i was up there and from what ive seen on google earth you could probably head east a bit but i could be grossly mistaken. anywho. once big brother raps up entirely which will hopefully be soon, 8 years is pushing it i think, this gives them room, with that gone they have room to expand, even if this means moving a carpark up to there making that a new entry thus giving WWW room to move around the side of cyclone. from what ive read, they are looking to dreamworld the backdrop of WWW and vice versa, sort of integrating the two in a way. quite frankly In my opinion, MLT just initially probably went small to sent WnW a declaration of War. which i am sure they got loud and clear. start small and work up. go small first dont jump in the deep end and try to swim, in a way they have done the right thing, start small with some good rides see what people think of it and how they react and see what is wanted next. i reckon in the long run this move could pay off for them, it will end up with the customer getting what they want which is what we are seeing now. people want individuality between these two parks. not the same stuff at both parks. that happens they might as well get together split the cusotmers up 50 50 and call it even. if its war you need things that are different, and WWW are definately doing this through such things as tornado alley, their river and the flocoaster i think its called? you know what im talking about..... space. big issue that may or may not end up being important. i think even if they sort of rap around, move up into the carpark a bit it might work. then again i could be wrong, which tends to happen alot. but the most likely option they seem to be looking at is going in an L shape. but yes we are right they havent utilised their current space to the best of their abilities. maybe this is a design flaw? maybe a hint of things to come? your guess is as good as mine. the introduction of the AMF bowling facility in dreamworld is a sign that MLT is ready to get on with this entertainment precinct. get rid of BB and this will start gaining momentum as well as new rides i think. means they can push the park north and open up areas to establish this precinct. i hope ive covered all the points ive wanted to. i am probably 1000 miles off in half of this but hell, shot in the dark is worthit sometimes.
  7. ok so ive been lookin round this site and others and ive seen pics of something called the sidewinder, apparently at wet n wild a 2 person tube ride or something so i went on the wet n wild website attempting to find where in the park this thing was and couldnt find it on their website!! can someone tell me if indeed this ride is at wet and wild and where the hell it is??? cheers guys
  8. T bone is right. this decision came straight from Macquarie leisure. its all to do with this mass entertainment precinct they want to put in up around dreamworld... realisticly this isnt that great a thing for the pro bowlers in australia. my guess is that this centre wont have anything to do with league and tournaments. they will prob make it just for social bowlers to go and bowl at. i must say that it would be great if they did hold tournaments there. would mean that people in the park would be able to see australias best bowl, and we could all go to the park after.
  9. ok i am a ten pin bowler. goin to nationals in 3 weeks in brisbane, so i will spill all the goss the closest bowl to dreamworld as far as i know is the one in the heart of surfers. yes macquarie owns AMF, thus the riddiculous prices when you go bowling. there definately is a market for bowling there, that area is expanding quite alot and its location between gold coast and brisbane is definately viable. a 24 lane bowling alley takes around 6 months or so to build. however what ive been told is that this thing is wayyy bigger than 24 lanes... rumours only tho. and also that it will be run by AMF and be able to be accessed seperately to dreamworld. a few other rumours that went around were that they wanted to make it the 'australian bowling stadium' that wont happen.... but rumours wre floating round about having australian nationals there... who knows with that one. any other questions feel free to ask.
  10. i was told where... lets just say its not near seaworld
