  1. Gazza, people can drown in less than 10cm of water if the conditions are right, or wrong in the drowning persons case. Perhaps he just feels safer staying away from them.
  2. I guess I should have also referred to the waiting so long for a short ride part again. But yes I go there to laze in the wave pools or calypso beach. Not one for slides either. Either way it still says that no interest in the water parks, and I don't get a day pass or yearly pass to these parks, just make use of them with the VIP passes. And on a seperate note Gazza, just because I don't go to themeparks for the same reason you do, although I may miss the point for you to go, I don't miss the point in me going.
  3. To be honest. I can't vote for any of them. A few years back I would have chosen MovieWorld hands down, but with the current trend of closing well loved family rides, keeping storefronts closed for half the day, lack of use of the extremely well themed areas (china town and western area), and filling the park with something it was said it would never be about (coasters) I can't bring myself to vote for them anymore. I had a yearly pass every year for 12 years and then a vip pass for the last 3, but when my last pass expired I never considered renewing it as the life and spirit of the park that was "Hollywood on the Gold Coast" and a place where "movies come alive" has gone. I am not one for rides that you wait more than 30 minutes for what is a less than 1 minute on ride experience so this removes Dreamworld from any chances. No point paying to use a pool when I have one at home so Whitewater World and Wet 'n' Wild are out. Finally after killing of the origins of the park by removing the Ski Show and any elements of it in any shows since and the single best ride they had in Bermuda Triangle, and updating an older ride which had nothing wrong with it, Seaworld does not get the vote either. I recently had relatives from Europe on holidays and they were looking forward to returning to the parks after their last holiday 6 years ago. They were extremely disappointed after visiting all the parks mentioned. Sure the VIP passes are aimed at locals as that is where the market is for the parks, but think if you had one day to visit a park after 6 years of waiting only to be welcomed with what many have come to see as standard for our parks. A very poor effort.
  4. Look back through this thread and see that I was one of 2 people who knew what was happening since day 1... Why would I knowingly create this when I have factual information that has been previously posted. It may not be correct but given the rest of the information I had that is now out there that was...
  5. SO nice that it is sorta out there now.. I can stop dropping so many little hints that people just don't get lol... I just find it amusing that they had to move this to the currently proposed site due to the fact main roads thought it would be too big a distraction to motorists on the highway if it was placed on the grass area between the car park and the service road... What about, let me think... All of WWW? Tower of Terror and Giant Drop? Batwing and Superman? WnW's new attractions? At least it would be hidden mostly behind the trees and shrubs they have lining the highway.
  6. Lol joz. Saw that hence my comments throughout this thread.
  7. This place just keeps getting Sillier & Sillier.
  8. Sorry can't actually say what I heard as I didn't hear it if you know what I mean but I made a previous comment that just might point some on the right "track"... "Isn't this a thread for the Construction at MW? Trying to decide who is El Loco for changing the topic..."
  9. It's funny, and yes just going off pegs and dirt, but hypothetically, "The Joker" title combined with what I have heard about being previously planned for this year (see recent comments)... They match right in.
  10. Perhaps frozen coke was a poor example granted. But as far as the Wonka query, this was less than 2 weeks ago.
  11. With all the discussion over BT and LTRR. Has anyone else realised that with the Looney Tunes Show now in main street that the Show Stage is now not getting much use? Do they still use this for anything or is it another feature going to waste?
  12. I personally say scrap the VIP idea all together and go back to the Annual Pass only... I was more than happy to pay in excess of $140 each year over the last 10 years or so before the VIP passes came out and the reason was that the quality was there. I kept buying the Annual Pass even when the VIP passes came out for the same reason and the fact I'm really not interested in WnW and Seaworld. But then as everyone swapped to the cheaper ticketing that kept being released the quality of the overall park experience fell. General atmosphere, ride and shop limited times of operation, outsourcing of stores (Ice Cream, Dominos, Frozen Coke, Willy Wonka has no Wonka products.) and fall of the quality of shows, street entertainment (random scooby chase, bonnie and clyde gone, random characters all throughout the day, looney tunes show now in main street, western "ghost" town) and actual feel of being in a movie based park as opposed to another Dreamworld with the theming spilling out all over itself and other areas. I bought a VIP pass at the start of this financial year and am sad to say that with the current way the parks are going I think it may indeed be the last year I purchase any pass to these parks. With the GP so set into the routine of these being released every year, it will be almost impossible to scrap them as no one will pay almost the same for a single day entry to one park when they are so used to getting unlimited entry for a year to not one, not two, but three parks. I work in Sales and Marketing, Finance and Auditing within the hospitality industry and you don't look at what will get you out of the immediate rut. You don't JUST look at what will get you out, but what things will continue to provide a steady income over the years to keep the company afloat without compromising the service and quality of product you are selling to your target consumer audience. Let us say your current consumer base figure is 1000. Approximately 10% (100) of these will not be pleased regardless of the service. This leaves 900 satisfied consumers that will go away and tell between 1 and 5 friends about the product (Avg of 3 people told per consumer). This gives 2700 possible future consumers. Of the original 1000 consumers, 50% are most likely to return (500). This means from one good day you could have a consumer base percentage increase of 270% We also look after a hotel where we constantly give out complimentary upgrades, free wine, free meals, etc. These things cost us less than $100 if we do all these for a single consumer based on the nightly rate of approx $300. However a loss of $100 means the consumer is 50% likely to return next time they are in town. If apply the same figures as above, but we did this for 100 consumers, we would raise $3000 in revenue, lose $1000 in complimentary items ($2000 up), and 90 of them went away and told the avg 3 people, we would have 320 (270+50) consumers return and with accomodation alone would raise a revenue of $96,000. Isn't that worth the original loss of $1000?? Before anyone replies about the figures I have used, this is all based on actual research the company I work for has been conducting for the last 4 years. I cannot reveal the company, our research methods or clientel base so please do not ask.
  13. My main query though wouldn't be about the creek, but if it is a ride, where will the queue line go? I mean it is outside the main park wall.
  14. I queried this a few months back... There is a link for the thread on parkz somewhere here...
  15. I have always thought that they shot themselves in the foot with the VIP pass. As a one year thing it would have been a great idea, however continuing it now means people expect it to continue. As a quick revenue raiser it is good. But it has meant a decline in quality with a lot of things within the park. They lose money from ticket sales due to this and the sheer number of people attending does put some pass holders off wanting to go back as the wait times are quite ridiculous these days. Wonder if they realised they were losing profits because of these and that is why the whole "no external food into the park" ruling came in. They don't make the money from tickets so they force people to buy food instead. They also add in all these extra upcharges to make more. Becoming more like the Ekka or Easter Show each year.
  16. True djrappa, but, the pipelines are not only in that one spot. If they were recording exactly where they ran to avoid them then they would have paint or string running between a bunch of pegs, not just one single point on each pipeline marked.
  17. Isn't this a thread for the Construction at MW? Trying to decide who is El Loco for changing the topic...
  18. Haha Hibino. I just started watching Batman Returns and read this. That one was so much better. The story made sense and the live action video made it feel real, not the computer generated world they have now.
  19. That was my exact thoughts when I saw the pictures for DW's X Coaster. Have to admit though, the footage I have seen of what MW may be adding (if it is what they were planning elsewhere) will outdo DW. Again, only if it is what they were planning for the other side of the carpark earlier this year. (And no not a Eurofighter)
  20. No I'm not a Greenpeace advocate, or vegan or any of that rubbish, but... this is what is going to happen when you keep wild animals. You can't get complacent with these things. They are wild. They are built to kill for survival. I remember someone once asked during their Q&A time at Tiger Island, "Do you even put any other living animals in with them that they can chase and kill." All the other guests laughed and the handler sort of gave a "you gotta be kidding me with that question" as he acknowledged himself and the other handlers in the enclosure.
  21. Would have to be the Great Gremlin Adventure. Can't count out the Studio Tours, Einstein Gravity Homestead, Western Stunt Show or Police Academy Stunt Show. Back then it was about the movie experience, not the quick thrills and a quick buck...
  22. A friend of mine does part time work with one of the construction people working on this... Not sure if this is what I have heard about as I know the plans were for the other side of the carpark but main roads were kicking up a stink... If it is though and they have moved it to keep the peace, looks like MW and DW are heading in a very similar direction with their additions this year...
  23. If they remove the River Ride the only original attraction remaining would be the "Speedy Gonzales Tijuana Taxis"... Sure keep up with the times, but they have basically rebuilt the whole park and it has become a shell of its former self. Yes technology has advanced and the demand is for rides and the such, but as I have mentioned before, it is a movie based theme park, yes I enjoy "riding the movie" on Scooby Doo, Wild West Falls and Superman. But where is the full movies experience they once had? Walkthrough attractions such as Einstein, Matrix, and Harry Potter. While they might not have been big crowd pullers, they immersed the guest in the movie experience on a different level. The shows in main street have not been updated in at least three years, Batman is still fighting the scarecrow based on the 2005 storyline. What of the 2008 Dark Knight involving one of the best villians in recent Batman history? Keeping shows up to date with the times would cost a lot less than removing and replacing rides and would only require script and costume changes.
  24. Funny you should be complaining of the crowds... I was at MovieWorld on Sunday and had done all rides (except Superman obviously) by 12:00pm. Approximately 10 - 20 bricks from HWSD have been in place the last few weeks that I have been attending. In saying that though I have been at 3 shows where cars have lost power midway through a sequence. I know that it is obviously something that can't be guaranteed not to happen but when it happens 3 out of 6 shows I think they need to look at the maintenance logs.
