  1. How awful! In full honesty, I don't think that Ferris Wheel looks safe. Because there were three to four people riding the same cage, I guess none of the cages could support that much weight. Needless to say, there should be a weight policy on these particular Ferris Wheels in order to prevent accidents like that from recurring.
  2. To make matters worse, the extra rides (holiday rides) seem to be there only to keep LPS from being too repetative with only 10 rides. Henceforth, they're just there to prevent LPS from becoming defunct like Sydney's other parks. It's as if LPS is on life support or something, so it's no wonder why they keep having the same abysmal rides every holidays instead of providing awesome rides.
  3. I wouldn't go as far to say that all the rides aren't great. True that the unlimited passes become worthless because of that, but while some of them are sh*tty like Tumblebug, others like Ranger and Flying Saucer do keep riders entertained. Too bad there's only like 2 or 3 good rides, and I only go during holidays because that's when they have extra rides during the time period. Problem is, it's usually 1 or 2 rides, and most of them suck (the Power Surge may be an exception, though). They are either just replicas of the rides LPS already has, or lame variants of good rides (Ali Baba for example being a spectacular failure to the Huss Rainbow). How could LPS mess this up so bad? "Just for fun"? Talk about hypocricy. You may be correct about the "no-competition," but this is the reason why the Gold Coast is getting better publicity and tourism, mainly because it's got bigger and better amusement parks. I only want to get to the point, which is that everything in LPS should be better: rides, entertainment, and so on. It seems however that they're trying to appeace the residents.
  4. That's what I said. While Zippers are generally wild rides, though some can be tame like you said, they're nothing compared to the big Mondial rides. They're the REAL monsters. Mondial = Monster. Get it?
  5. Oh great, LPS really done it again. 3 temporary sucky rides. I just looked up the website not too long ago, and they've shown what rides are coming during this autumn holidays. I've ridden them last year, Hurricane and Wild Chairs, and they're so boring. Crazy Cars is just a Kiddy Ride, so it doesn't count. The Hurricane was decent though. In full honesty, it is exciting. So is the Wild Chairs, but it looks more like a toned-down Yo-yo. The point is, LPS should give out bigger thrills during the holidays. Bring in cooler rides like the Claw, Chaos, or the Rainbow. I know that some of the bigger rides are in the RES, but the ones mentioned above aren't, which is a shame cause they're awesome rides. LPS really disappointed me. I hope they'll do better next holidays.
  6. Thanks for the honest opinions, fellow members of Parkz Forums. Giving much thought, I would give XXXL a try. I HOPE it is for casual riders like myself. Funny how we mentioned the other rides like Space Roller and No Limit, two riders manufactured by Mondial, another Dutch ride manufacturing company. Mondial DOES make really freakish rides. They're so insane, they make the most intense KMG rides, let alone Chance's Zipper look like child's play.
  7. I never said anything about a 'no ride' policy. I actually considered of giving it a try if it doesn't really cause any discomfort. Otherwise, I might as well try the Extreme Speed. The RES website claims that the XXXL goes up to 6Gs. I think it's too much of an exaggeration because according to KMG, the generic Inversion ride (which is what the XXXL is) totals up to 4Gs. In fact, the No Limit looks WAY more intense than XXXL, thus that makes it the real deal.
  8. Well, it's that time of year again. The 2010 Sydney Royal Easter Show is on its way in just a couple more weeks, which means tons of new rides are coming this year, such as the XXXL, Rock n Roll, and others. I'm all set for another visit, and I hope it will be more fun. I'm curious about the XXXL ride. Being a ride fan, I know some things about the XXXL: 1) It's an upsidedown ride. 2) Manufactured by KMG of West Holland, the same company who brought us Extreme Speed, Sky Walker, and the Claw. 3) You gotta love its rainbow-colored scheme. What I'd like to know though, is how is it when you ride it. I've ridden Flying Saucer and Ranger, LPS's two upsidedown rides, but are they nothing compared to the XXXL? Can anybody ride that ride, or is it something that only hardcore riders can handle? If anybody has ridden it before, please do give me an honest opinion about it. I'd like to know, cause I wanna try a KMG ride this year. I won't try the Sky Walker, though, cause I heard it hurts the groin - a guy's worst nightmare. T-Rex PS: When will we ever see the Huss Rainbow ride again? The Ali Baba ride sucks. That's just my opinion on the ride though. Please don't be offended.
  9. True. What I meant to say is that they're both in Queensland, and that they're both waterparks. Sea World on the other hand just got more interesting stuff, like the aquatic animal shows and stuff like that. It's more entertainment based than Whitewater World. That's for sure.
  10. I wouldn't be sure. I haven't been to Sea World before, but my grandmother said that the Bermuda Triangle ride is fun, so I suppose the park would be worth your time. Then again, there's White Water World, another water park. The Gold Coast sure has a LOT of amusement parks - Sea World, Dreamworld, White Water World, and so on. Unlike here in Sydney, which only has Luna Park after losing its better parks.
  11. Okay, I just had a thought. It may seem a little bit impossible, or probably unfeasible, but I would explain it anyway. I studied the map Gazza provided and noticed something: there is like a gap between the right side of the U-Drive Kiddy Ride and the entrance to Maloney's Corner. Supposedly if the Tumblebug is too valuable to be scrapped, perhaps they could add an extention by making a large platform behind the U-Drive. The Tumblebug can be moved from where it is now to that spot. There will be two entrances: one from the dock to Maloney's Corner, and in that gap mentioned above. That empty space in the Tumblebug's former spot would make enough room for a small but fun rollercoaster which will be more thrilling than Wild Mouse and could be the next reincarnation of Big Dipper, but first the space between the Big Top and Coney Island would have to be extended a little bit.
  12. You know, to add another coaster that will be more thrilling than the Wild Mouse, why not just get rid of the Tumble Bug and extend the space between the Big Top and Coney Island? I mean surely people are saying that the Tumble Bug is not that much of a good ride anyway.
  13. Yo stdragon I won't be able to make it to Luna Park. Sorry. Please keep posted if another visit is arranged. T-Rex
  14. In full honesty, I would say they may have spent the amounts trying to maintain their position as an amusement park, but they seemed to have made an unfair compromise by trying to lower the noise level, meaning taking away good rides. What's the Big Dipper entrance doing there if it doesn't exist anymore, only to have the Tumblebug in its place? That doesn't mean that the park has gone bad, but they could have improved on it if they had a chance. Seriously, some of LPS former rides were taken off to make room for the unnecessary additions. The Big Top seems to be a waste of space as no one uses it except on certain occasions, and in some cases, at night time. This is an amusement park! Not some night-club/concert place. Doesn't the city have enough concert venues and dance clubs or something? Oh, perhaps in the future they might scrap Maloney's Corner and replace it with a movie theatre or something, and that means more rides will be taken off, which is really ridiculous. Let LPS leave the entertainment aspect to Greater Union, Hoyts, and in general, the city, and stick to being what it really is... an amusement park, and they should never puss out to a bunch of residents. If they can't handle the noise, that's their problem. LPS forgot what really got them there in the past, and that's just sad.
  15. I guess a lot of these posts should have been discussed in the Ideas for Luna Park Sydney thread, but the last post was made by myself more than 2 months ago. Either no one wants to petition these great ideas to LPS, or the park itself won't take account that it won't gain much having a sparse number of rides. It's an amusement park, so it should have plenty of rides. Oh yeah, it doesn't make any changes to LPS having its area being heritage listed. My only assumption is that LPS will never make further changes to their park such as adding more attractions to make it better most likely because they are intimidated by those buzz-killing residents. They are practically allowing those buggers to walk all over them. Why can't they stand up for themselves?
  16. Don't get me wrong, the Ali Baba is not a bad ride, but it doesn't have the same thrill intensity as the Rainbow. While the Ali Baba ride takes you up high, the Rainbow takes you up higher and goes faster than the former. Some of you may have qualms about having a HUSS Rainbow as an addition to LPS's available rides, mainly due to the fact that we have the Ranger which has the same functions as the Rainbow, but they do have different thrill sensations: the Ranger takes you up high in rounds of vertical loops, while the Rainbow doesn't, so in a way, riders who want to experience a fast non-upsidedown pendulum ride will have the Rainbow to choose from. With rollercoasters, I think we could have room for one more rollercoaster. Problem is, there isn't a good place for a coaster that is bigger than the Wild Mouse, and the inevitable complaints of irate local residents compounds the dilemma. As I mentioned before in another thread, someone ought to make a petition and present it to LPS. We need another coaster. It may seem questionable to why want a Rainbow in LPS, but after having 4 HUSS rides, they could add a 5th ride, particularly one that will probably never appear in any other carnival ever again. Damn those Swedes that can't do careful maintenance on their rides Any thoughts? I'm with adding a new coaster and flat ride, and how about having more diversity in the type of Holiday Rides for every school holidays? Oh, and another thing. The Pirates Revenge is just the same log flume ride we had at LPS for Summer holidays back in 2009. What's it doing being a travelling ride, especially being an exclusive ride for the Easter Show? No wonder they took out better rides. It should have been one of LPS's permanent rides for crying out loud! Or to say the least a ride for only an amusement park. Surely there are other amusement parks in Australia that could keep Pirate's Revenge, since it wouldn't fit as a permanent ride LPS mainly because of it's setting. That ride is ideal for a water park.
  17. stdragon03, Before the date of your second visit to LPS, you should post a reminder so that for those of us who are interested won't forget. What would be done? Do we have to pay for our wristbands ourselves? If we have friends who aren't members of Parkz Forums, can we invite them?
  18. Maybe someone should make a petition to add rides that have been in absence for awhile. Ever since the incident in Liseburg, Sweden back in 2008, the ride Rainbow has been left out in obscurity, but I digress. We haven't seen the Chaos and KMG Claw since 2008's Easter Show, and we could do with a bigger rollercoaster. The Wild Mouse is okay, and I don't want them to scrap it because it's Luna Park's original rollercoaster ride, but it is very small, and Luna Park could always do with a more exciting coaster. But no since getting rid of the Big Dipper and having it sent to Dreamworld. Yeah, suck up to the buzz-killing residents, LPS. A petition must be issued. Bring back the neglected rides and make way for another coaster!
  19. I think we need someone who is a bit more open minded with the selection of rides and attractions for LPS. Someone who will not be swayed by those residents nearby.
  20. The day to Luna Park was on January 29th? Aw, crud, I've forgotten all about it! Anyways, I'm glad to heat everyone's had fun. Hope you can try another thing, like the Royal Easter Show.
  21. In a way, but Luna Park is Sydney's only amusement park left since Sega World and Wonderland closed down.
  22. I think they've been using the Power Surge and Hurricane heaps of times during the Holiday Rides period. They need to have more diversity. They should add Rainbow (please not the Ali Baba. It's not as thrilling as Rainbow!), Zipper, Chaos, KMG Claw, XXXL, Sky Walker, and Hard Rock to their lineup of choices. I wonder if any of the rides mentioned above were used by LPS during their Holiday Rides period. And for that matter, other rides like No Limit, Space Roller, and Mega Drop? Since XXXL's debut to the Royal Adelaide Show in September, it should make it's debut to LPS for the Summer holidays. Can't wait to ride it. By the way, I agree that their lineup is not too good. 2 rides, what where they thinking? They can do better.
  23. That's just sad. With that attitude, they will never compete with the bigger and more popular parks like Dreamworld. That could endanger Sydney's popularity, let alone NSW's popularity. There seems to be more people going to Queensland's Gold Coast nowadays.
  24. This ain't a hoax, right? If it isn't, I'd be happy to come! You should call it "Invitation for Parkz Forums members"!
  25. Does anyone think the Tumble Bug should no longer be in LPS? I've heard it's been hired elsewhere recently. I agree with adding a Rainbow to the choice rides. Perhaps moving some of the Kiddie rides to another would be a good idea to make room for future big rides. (*cough* Chaos, *cough*, Zipper, *cough*, Maurer Sohne coaster *cough*) BTW, Tango Train's finally back, eh? I thought they would never finish repairing it. That's good news, I guess.
