  1. Well if we are on the topic about Maze locations, they called always do what Universal Florida does and have a "sprung tent" out near WWF or Loony Tunes in order to spread the crowds a bit more evenly. Take this for example... I do agree that we should be prepared to what a decent amount of time when we go to these events, but the problem is that we don't have a long time to get through all the mazes. If the queue for each maze is roughly an hour, you would have no hope of going through all of them without local residents allowing the event to go longer.
  2. So it's a lose-lose situation? Anyway, I'm sure VRTP will find a way to expand the event and reduce crowds a little (hopefully). But in all reality, is a 30 minute line really that bad?
  3. Hmmm. Guess you are right. Out of both your suggestions though, I would much rather see a lower capacity and more events than a higher ticket price, but either way I'm going to head down to the coast every October just to see what MW puts out.
  4. For a smaller park, that theming looks really well done! I'm impressed. Is anyone going to head down to try and have on of the first rides?
  5. Personally, I don't think the price or capacity for the event should change; it's fine the way it is. What I think MW should do is add another maze or two and another show next year in order to soak up some of those crowds so we're not seeing 100 minute queues. I didn't really find a problem with the fog at this year's event. Everyone found there way through the streets perfectly fine, but I do see how it could easily become a hazard. As for the queues, they definitely need an A-Frame sign at the entry and longer queue set-ups so we aren't seeing guests not knowing what maze they are queuing for and the dreaded "improv" queue that happens to confuse everyone even more.
  6. Just because a park is big doesn't mean its automatically good. But I do agree that Dreamworld deserves 7th place.
  7. I went last night so I guess its only far that I post a review. Sorry for the length of it! The Darkness This was my first maze of the night, and I gotta say it was quite suspenseful. I do agree that the maze was not up to the standard of the others, but for a quick “warm-up” to get the heart rate up, it was definitely fun. Most of the scares were quite weak, especially how you could easily see most of the actors that were meant to be disguised. I would not recommend a wait over 30 mins for this. The Walking Dead TWD was the second maze of the night for me and the first soundstage, and I gotta say I was quite impressed. The effort that was put into the sets were just astonishing, especially the RV. The only problems I really had with the maze was long gaps without scares. The were just certain times were you had a break and could admire the scenery that could have had a very effective scare. I only went on with fast track so I can’t exactly say how long the queue was, but I did see in down the road. The Evil Dead Evil Dead has got to be my favourite of the night. Just like TWD, ED had some amazing sets, and some very effective scares. I wouldn’t say it was a beautiful or astonishing as TWD, but just the fact that you walk in almost pitch-black darkness up to the cabin with your heart-pumping was just the best feeling. If you do go through, just try to admire some of the scares, such as the scrim towards the beginning, the Gillie suit and the finale. Once again, I did check how long the line was but it was definitely shorter than TWD. Hillbilly Slasher 2 I didn’t get to go through this maze last year, but I am so glad that it was brought back. I do agree that the sewer tube did feel a little hard to work through, but that was made up with the all the theming and originality in this maze. There were some very effective scares in this maze, especially if your at the back. If you are, just constantly look behind you because you never know who will follow you home. I didn’t get to check the wait time of this, but it was definitely around Dirty Harry’s. What could be improved… People touching the actors was one of my biggest peeves, especially during TWD. A group of about three people obviously had not read the signs scattered throughout the queue and were giving a couple of zombies a hug and tried to literally pull someone of his pedestal. They got their just desserts when one zombie growled back and said “DON’T TOUCH ME”. For the rest of the maze they were just confused and angry that they couldn’t touch the actors. For the safety of the staff, please put signs around the queue and say a safety spiel as you walk through. The next thing is little kids. Personally, I’m fine with kids going to the event as long as they are mature. If a 12yr old can watch Nightmare on Elm and not have nightmares and wants to go, let him. But what really pisses me off is parents that take their 8yr olds. Please, please next year implement an actual age restriction were you could be turned back if you are underage age. Seeing little kids crying as they leave Evil Dead just makes me feel so sorry for the youngsters. Finally, please fix the queues. Although the queue set up was good, they didn't anticipate the amount of people in each queue which lead to a lot of confusing. You know when people cant find the Fast Track entry and when people get confused between the queue for Hillbilly and Scooby, something has gone wrong. All in all, it was an amazing night and I cannot wait for next year. I think the Golden Age of Aussie Haunts is about to begin!
  8. Just to add to that, this Saturday has sold out
  9. Anyone here have a map from the event?
  10. If Dreamworld does decide to invest in one of their older rides, the Cyclone not only needs a smoother train but also needs to be faster at loading and unloading. I mean, waiting 10 minutes for one train to load and unload is ridiculous!
  11. Does anyone know any information about an opening date other than "Summer 2013/14"
  12. And we do have a handful of amazing rides. Look at Superman Escape, rated 21st on the Steel Coaster Poll for 2012, out of more than 427 coasters. That's pretty impressive for a "non-world class" park...
  13. Nice footage of the Coast in that advert, but is that from this new campaign? It says it was posted in May while the campaign is set to start on the 27th of October. Sure it's for this campaign?
  14. So what was the thoughts on last night and Friday? Was it better or worse than the previous nights?
  15. Thanks Everyone! Fast Track is looking really tempting at the moment, but I think I wont get it. Rides don't really matter for me, seeing I'm going up to the park the day before. From your help, I think I might go Hillbilly first, then the two Sound-stages, and finally, I'll probably skip Darkness seeing how its being hated. Thanks for your help!
  16. Nice Reviews Everyone! I'm going to Fright Nights soon and was wondering what would be a better plan; Going straight for Evil Dead and/or Walking Dead, or going for Hillbilly Slasher first. What would be best?
  17. The same goes for the Evil Dead! The tree scene looks a bit off, but other than that, the event is looking great!
  18. How significant of an impact do you think this campaign would have on the parks? Would it generate enough money from increase ticket sales to see more well-themed rides like Justice League or Scooby-Doo be built in the parks more often? Or is it still a bit of a long shot?
  19. Movie World upload a Teaser of the Walking Dead Maze today. Looks fairly impressive!
  20. Where the queues 20-30 minutes like last year? Or should I just go and buy a fast-track pass because they're too long?
  21. This campaign would actually help Dreamworld get that dream coaster one day. Firstly, this campaign would increase the awareness of the park Australia-wide. With more people aware of the park's offerings/existence, more Aussies would visit the park. When more people go through the park gates, Ardent receives more money, not just from ticket sales, but from food and merch. With more money in Ardent's bank account, they can finally build that monolith of a "proper coaster". So don't get so Butthurt at a campaign that will probably boost the parks significantly. Wait, that's Movie World? I thought the rust and peeling paint was from Dreamworld's Main Street!
  22. It may be better than Psycho 3D, but is it worth the wait? How long is the queue times anyway?
  23. I think that the Tourism Department might be a little jealous about Wet 'n' Wild Sydney and Abyss at Adventure taking the theme park spotlight away from the Gold Coast. I do agree that it is good to see the focus on the parks, but haven't they always used the parks in the promotional materials, like commercials and brochures?
  24. From the MW Website... Easiest way that my parents used to figure out if I could go to certain events like this was "Would I let my son watch this franchise?". So just say to yourself, would his parents let him watch The Walking Dead / Evil Dead? If yes, and he wouldn't be scarred for life afterwards, let him go. If not, just say it is very graphic and mature; not 12 year old material. In the end, though, it's your parents that should make the decision about whether or not your brother can go.
