  1. Just looking at this drawing again, it doesn’t actually look like there is a path that connects from ST to GD. You can see the two foot paths which are currently being laid, but these are access the queue and exit from the station. There are access paths, but I imagine they will be fenced off and are access for staff/maintenance
  2. The concrete paths are being poured that will lead from SV to the queue and through to the GD. I love the colourisation and style they’ve gone with this path to give that Aussie outback look
  3. Apparently because of COVID, Sea World has reduced its operating hours The way they’ve presented it looks confusing, but basically it’s 9:30 to 3:30 everyday except Saturday’s. Saturday’s will continue to be 9:30 to 5.
  4. That’s a very good point. Looking through posts I’ve made on GCTP, I’ve only done 2 updates all year on Leviathan construction and the last one was over two months ago. VRTP should be pushing hard with marketing for the summer holidays. There are the smaller ads for the annual passes that very briefly mentions the rides opening, but they should do a full campaign only focusing on the new land. The ad for Rivals is the last campaign we’ve seen from VRTP that only focuses on the new attraction and not passes and then briefly mentions the new thing
  5. They are looking for makeup artists for this years event
  6. They were posting pretty regularly on socials up until March as well. Then construction slowed and there haven’t been too many drastic changes since.
  7. Congratulations to Brisbane. We got the 2032 Olympics. Our theme parks without a doubt will be preparing for them and will begin to majorly invest to get them up to world class, with all new attractions, expansion, refurbishments, hotels. What do we think our parks will do? What do you think they need to do?
  8. I agree with @DaptoFunlandGuy about the flat ride or a food outlet. I was looking forward to the kinetic energy of both Buzz and ST going around their tracks at the same time. Plenty of rider screams, much like Ocean Parade used to have when wipeout was operating. Maybe something low profile would be good so ST is the main focus from the car park.
  9. I’d say FN will be announced very soon and then this other big announcement will be in October/November so that they can focus on FN marketing
  10. The skull has been removed and has not been saved
  11. Checkout the original concept art for the ride here: https://mattbakercreative.com/buzzsaw-at-dreamworld?fbclid=IwAR1n1BX72HmapJ-I4C-sZwAZuebd9i_8ECx7mumuftOfrIWbMVg8gjcSTIk
  12. I’d say they with the continuous maintenance costs and probably the new parts and refurb the ride needs, there was no real value with spending this money when the rides popularity is so low. And really, at a price of $7 million, the ride was a bargain and isn’t that big of loss. But Dreamworld, you’ll definitely want to look at opening something near year too.
  13. The reason why I don’t think DW will close down is because if they got to a situation where that could potentially happen, I feel like the government would step in to help it. And I’m sure some investor would buy the park too. I think after ST, they need to get 2-3 more big investments within the next 5 years. Maybe one of those investments could be multiple smaller rides at once (potential new land or expansion of existing, eg. Rocky hollow). Only then I think the park will be at a point where all the closures will be seen as ‘replaced’. I think in the mean time, they need to keep up with the school holiday entertainment/events, as they are proving to be very popular
  14. Dreamworld won’t be gone for good. Give it 5-7 years and it will be heading towards becoming what it used to be.
  15. I can see this area being changed to a viewing area for Steel Taipan and that’s all that it will remain. It will be an awesome spot for people to wait and watch riders as you get a view of the entire track
  16. I’ve mapped out the current train line, possible new line and station locations. (Red: exisiting. Blue:potential. Green: maintenance line. Yellow: current station). Based off what we know, I think the blue line is most likely what we will see the rain route be when it reopens, with the green section kept to allow for maintenance and storage. Based off this I think the Rocky Hollow station will be no more, leaving the 3 stations. I’d be tempted to remove the Billabong station (one stop after Main Street) and just keep the two. I wonder if they will reopen the Corroboree store as that used to be used as the station exit (if I remember correctly) Having said all that, wouldn’t they have removed the Rocky hollow station during the log ride demolition? Why keep it if the track was going to bypass the station now? I do hope they remove the loop around blue lagoon because it has been an eye sore for 15 years now.
  17. You could say the same for TOT. When they announced the ride, there probably wasn’t any plans to remove it.
  18. They could’ve even done the old trick of having it under maintenance until they can announce a new attraction
  19. Last time I looked at it, it was a big pink circle of steel
  20. Since 2016 the park has closed: River Rapids, Log Ride, Flowrider, Wipeout, TOT, Big Red Car, Cinema, Zombie Evilution, Brocks Garage, Hop and Hoot and now BuzzSaw. Some of those were much less of a loss than others, but still, that’s a long list of attractions to close. Since then they’ve got SkyVoyager, soon Steel Taipan and they utilise the Exhbition centre quite often too.
  21. @Gazza that is very true. Over the past year, anytime I’ve gone the longest queue time i think I’ve seen is 15 minutes. Most of the time it’s a one or two cycle queue. Even last weekend when the park was very busy with an almost full car park, it was basically a walk on. I don’t know if it’s just because it’s now hidden with river rapids gone, but in the past 5 years it’s become less and less popular. People complain about the ride going, but it has clearly not been a popular ride anyway and once it is gone, people probably won’t miss it.
  22. Just a generic reason I think. I’d imagine the real reason is old park management didn’t look after it properly and it’s costing to much to keep repairing it. (If you think about how much time it’s been under maintenance for over the past couple years, it’s pretty bad). So they are just going to get rid of it and put that money elsewhere at some point. I don’t think we’ll see another attraction go here anytime soon. It’s too narrow of area, especially now Steel Taipan is there. And I think we’ll see it removed before ST opens
  23. Once Steel Taipan is open, the train will be reopening with an all new look
