  1. I love the Wipeout. Perfectly themed for what it is, looks impressive, fun ride, and not so overpowering that it ruins the surrounding area. A real gem of a ride.
  2. Its not that they're too cheap to make their own (Warner has to be involved with the whatever it is that’s going into Madrid) its just that Shrek is A. More marketable B. Probably better. Lets face it, the Mask is pretty old, and Son of the Mask has kind of ruined the Mask for most people. BTW, Wild West Falls is not themed to any particular film, just the entire Western Genre. The Western Action Show was also not themed to anything Warner Brothers. Others have already mentioned Hi-5 and Marilyn Monroe, well add Pokemon to that list; all of the singers from Superstars live in concert (which was a major if short-lived attraction) and that’s a mighty big list of non- WB stuff. By the way, the aforementioned still doesn't include the non - WB music around the park, decor, and who knows what else. Now can we stop flogging the dead horse, and can more people please come forward and say they don’t think its happening - its funny.
  3. I think it translates roughly as "Your wrong, but probably right"
  4. I think you’ve missed the point: Shrek 4D is rated at least equal, if not higher then every 4D movie out there, with the exception of Mickey's Philarmagic – and with good reason, it’s an excellent movie. The fact that it’s not Warner Brothers is a pretty weak reason not to have it. I see what your saying (Its not WB) but really, who cares? I’m not going to say no to a brilliant new attraction. Its based on a Movie, and that’s good enough for me. I must admit though, I love comment that about Shrek that it “was brought in only for the purpose of attracting visitors”. Dude, it’s a theme park. New things are built to attract guests, hence why they call them ‘attractions’.
  5. Ian has a few and will hopefully be updating in the next couple of days. Imagine the train going the other way, and you've pretty much got Superman's top hat. Besides the height, its exaclty the same.
  6. I'll probably move the relevant stuff here later on, but for the moment you'll have to have a look at that link to get a gist of the convo Personally, I can't see over saturation of the market being a good enough reason for stopping this. Robina Town Center is not that far from Pacific Fair, and there are allot of people who flip a coin on which they go to. Just across the road from Pacific Fair is the Oasis, itself a sizable shopping center, which is bordered by another shopping district. Even with Westfield, all those people who live North of Dreamworld (and there are ALOT of said people north of Dreamworld) would be without a local shopping center. if there were no CityWalk. Conversely, without Westfield but with CityWalk, there are those people at Studio Village that have still got nothing. I think both would be viable even taking the other into account. The only reason I wouldn't want this to go ahead would be that the shopping center might be more profitable then Dreamworld, and may slowly take over. And before everyone starts saying that, it’s about .0000001% chance of happening (i.e. not likely).
  7. That ground hugging bit isn't where the alleged overbank is going. It’s over the top hat, quick right turn, the fast ground hugging helix, and then into the overbank.
  8. I'd say yes, 2-day park. Again, if its all about the rides, then on a normal out of season day, 1 day park, but if your with a family, and want to fit everything in, you won’t be able to do it in one day. I don't think blue lagoon, the Australian Wildlife Experience Shows, Imax, Tiger Island displays and going to the Big Brother house would be easy to do in one day, never mind hitting the rides as well.
  9. I wonder if this will have any effect on Dreamworld's planned water park
  10. As much as I despise Big Brother, I don't think it'll leave Dreamworld. It still gets allot of viewers, and DW's attendance is through the roof recently, and the success of Big Brother would have a fair bit to do with that. Not only from people wanting to go to do the whole Big Brother thing, but also those people who watch Big Brother who keep being reminded of this Dreamworld place. Even the opening sequence for Big Brother had an animation of the Claw...
  11. Those recent updates at theme park review are really cool with all those Euopean parks. That park in question (Heide park) has painted all its flat rides in that area (which are all HUSS) green and white. That Rainbow is seriously the most colourful flat ride in the area.
  12. Looney Tunes musical review was closed early this year for Superman, and now with Roxy out of action, its been brought back to fill the void. So if you missed your chance to check out this show, here's your chance to check it out!
  13. It rings a bell. I was going to mention it until I remembered that I have no clue if there was truth to it or if I read the article wrong
  14. Well, it was a rumour, but the thing about this one is the restaurent started the rumour. They said that they'd be building a roller coaster at the current site, and be building a shop in Surfers. Now the shop is there, but we're still waiting on the Coaster. I wonder if they remember announcing it?
  15. Didn't end up getting past the approval process
  16. Pretty much, two or three days after that the slide was more or less complete. Though there hasn't been much/any noticable progress since.
  17. If you mean is it being built by the same company, and will it use the same launch system then yes. Otherwise, Nev is pretty much on the money.
  18. Think, Movieworld's last 2 major rides were Scooby Doo and Wild West. One of (if not) the best Wild Mouse coasters out there, and a log flume that is beaten in scale only by splash mountain. No wonder the standard is set so high for Superman
  19. What about the rest of the world? There is nothing even similar to Stratosphere anywhere else.
  20. Depends which parks you’re comparing our rides to. I mean, our thrill rides would realistically perform exceptionally well in just about any market. Look at some of the thrill rides that are at our parks: Giant Drop, Lethal Weapon, Tower of Terror. These aren't kiddy thrills; these are big thrill rides, no matter what market they are placed in. Lethal Weapon's twin at Gueaga Lake, Serial Thriller/Thunderhawk, is regarded well against the best coasters in the world by everyone except the enthusiast community. Giant Drop is certainly no "kiddy thrill" either. IMHO, it’s only the freakishly big parks (think the big Six Flags Parks and Cedar Point), which really beat our thrill rides. Still, considering one of those big parks pull in an averaged out 16,000 people per day (presuming 6 month operation), and our big thrill parks (MW and DW) teamed up struggle to average 7,000 a day between them, I think our parks do a good job of even having competitive thrills.
  21. We'd really like to supply that link, but R-C tries not to be associated with articles that are at odds with the parks requests. The only site, which is at the moment authorized to show such updates, is ozcoaster.net. So we can only "unofficially" recommend you check there. Aussieparks is a decent enough site (Obviously I would prefer it if it didn't have photos or list rumors, but its not MY web space after all ), but you have to remember, that Ian goes to allot of effort to have stuff approved, so we try and support that as much as possible.
  22. Exactly, it could be used as stagnant swampland (If only we could be that lucky).
