I haven’t been in a while, but last time I was there they put up an observation tower where the new slide tower is going. Many social media sites also said it was opening this season, when it’s not supposed to be.

They probably get their confusion from The Maze using the term "opening summer 2019"

  2. Idk what to call AW, but here's wat I think of the grass. It helps like bloody crazy any day 30^c+. Everyone at AW walks around barefoot (you can't wear shoes on a slide etc). If I wanna go from the abyss to Kahuna, I can do so barefoot without getting 3rd degree foot burns. And where there isn't grass, like the walk up to inferno/Kraken, there is shade. Most families don't go on water attractions, put on shoes dry, take off shoes (process repeats). It's branded as an all round park, so these 'unthemed wastes of picnic space' is intelligent, and so they don't get sued (unless your an upcoming talent being an idiot on kraken🙃)

It appears the Great Escape has risen from the ashes.

I feel like this will be a placeholder before they hopefully start construction on something better in winter (they would probably like to get some revenue from the site over summer). I mean realistically, is an inflatable park right around the corner from chipmunks really viable year long?

  4. With all due respect, I believe dw needs a very big overhaul. Whether it's ardent selling off, or just having a big review of how they're operating the park, something needs to be done. Very much lately, and even before the tragic accident, dreamworld seemed to always be putting band aids on a gunshot wound. Rides like the wipeout needed to be gone ages ago, before they had massive bad for business ride closures, that probably have cost them more than it would to demolish and retheme with store/restaurant etc. And once trr and eureka mountain are demolished,a nod if the log ride is, I believe the whole gold rush area should be retheme Perhaps a space theme? Would go good with buzzsaw and giant drop. Dreamworld could just theme everything up and wouldn't have to build a new ride. Advertise it like a massive new thing and the gp will roll in

There's some fresh graffiti on top of the waterslides now, too. The work looks more like demolition than construction. It's interesting that the slides seem to be included too - they're not just removing the  ropes course.

What is there to do with 25 year old slides though? Other than take th m to places like ern halliday

Got that's the worst add ever.

Did they have a AWL rapid raft slide of death like Wet n Wild had?

The raft slide looks a hell of a lot faster in the ad than it is. Before it closed, and for as long as I remember, the slide shown had singular black donut tubes. Perhaps with the management changes and health and safety stuff the water pressure was lowered and tandem riding no longer existed. One thing I find interesting is I believe the owner of the land owned all the equipment on it and hired companies to 'lease' the property

They never replaced the slides they simply repainted them blue form the original green. I found a video of the slides from 1995. I haven't been able to find when they opened but they have been there at least 22 years since 1995.

Pretty sure they're the slides are the old ones from mirrabooka action park (now defunct)

  8. I'm no expert, but aren't the prices of the passes really based upon demographics? I think most of the attendees of gc parks are tourists, who won't be buying a season pass. Most of their focus would be on tourism, whereas it wouldn't be at AW. People go to gc for the soul purpose of doing the parks, but don't come to Perth to souly do AW. What I'm trying to say is gc parks target locals for the passes, and so do AW, therefore there's more profit to be made off of season passes over here. I'm pretty sure none of that made sense.

Oh come on Tim, seriously. Look - I really want to be objective here, and I acknowledge everyone is entitled to have an opinion, but you are the biggest defender of AW, whether it is deserved or not - sometimes you gotta let it go and acknowledge that AW isn't the perfect park you sometimes make it out to be.
