I do believe the rocking launch with the spike will be a better ride experience. The nerfed comment just means it's less powerful. Accelerators kick you up the arse but are generally one trick ponies.

Regarding those unopened coasters, from what i can gather, dynamic attractions went way over budget building them (and mission ferrari at Ferrari world) which led them into bankruptcy. It also doesn't help that Disney cancelled the ip that Genting wanted to use for them requiring a complete retheme. Im sure there'll be some sort of legal proceedings going on behind closed doors, and no one is going to want to come in and finish the project until thats finalised, especially without access to Dynamic's unique product patents.

I agree that area deserves something better than a Surfrider - or an Intamin twin hammer - but making the best out of a bad situation would be, imo, throwing in the towel with Doomsday and putting the Surfrider there because: a) You need an attraction semi reliably running in your (debatably) most well themed area to justify its build cost. b) It gives people a reason to go down that end of the park (since Scooby has gone down) other than solely as a thoroughfare to WWF, decongesting the front of the park (and feel free to correct me if i'm wrong but i think there's a whole 'the further you walk, the longer you stay, the more you spend' thing Disney believe in). If the Flash was a long planned installation then yes, the helix is a better place to put it, but given the context of both Scooby and Doomsday's non operation, and as purely a filler, I believe that area of the park would be much better for the 'new' installation.

Hate To be that Guy, but where did you source this information from? If Flash wasn't a knee-jerk reaction to Scooby's problems, and something that had been planned for any period of time (which seems unlikely given they refurbed and rebuilt it up the road before moving it over), the absolute dogshit attempt of village to theme it is even more of a joke then the 2D comic art would suggest to the untrained eye. And where else could have they reasonably put it in the park? All signs point to: Scooby carking it -> oh crap we didn't plan for the refurbishment of it at the end of its natural life cycle -> we have an extra ride up the road -> bring it down -> put it in superman's helix so we can attach some bullshit marketing slogan to the ride -> fail to open it in a timely fashion during availability crises. IMO, it would have made more sense to remove doomsday and put it in that plot if space permitted, but i guess 'closest roller coaster ride to a western themed log flume in the southern hemisphere' doesn't have the same ring as ' first ride within a ride' even if the former is more true...

That document is one of the more shocking and eye opening pieces you will ever read. Not so much for the gruesome details, thats a given, but the general complacency and neglect of the park through their maintenance team, lack of training and poor procedural expectations/knowledge. Dreamworld deserved every dollar and bit of backlash they copped, its just absolutely devastating it took 4 lives to bring their malpractice into the limelight.

This is Actually insane. To think they moved a coaster over to cover capacity loss from Scooby, just to piss fart around with it like all their maintenance jobs and not have it open, along with everything else. It's deplorable that they'd have the gall to both open the park and charge full price knowing families won't have the foresight to check what's running. No park in the world gets away with this crazy level of shithousery, nor do they let themselves exhibit such poor function in the first place.

I suspect this one post has displayed more patron analytics then anything VRTP marketing has drummed up for themselves over the past few years.

When i went earlier this year, on a school day as well, trident was at no point under a 45 minute wait - despite the fact that the line only ever looked half full. It seems like a very aesthetically pleasing yet functionally lacking attraction.

Shame to hear Hair Raiser runs so rough. Glossy smooth when I rode back in 2014. As for the state of the park - Its quite sad. The Arrow looper was 37 years old so had lived its life, but the other rides in the summit were perfectly operable when closed. Ocean park had been crippled pre-covid by the Hong Kong riots and the downturn in tourism from mainland china that it caused, as well as the genuine competition that was starting to pop up from the mainland. I believe they are planning on selling off the summit and the area near the old Mine train to a private developer/operator who are then going to operate certain attractions on a pay per ride basis, and this company had no interest in operating larger rides - or those similar to the Disney style of ride - so Ocean park just shut them down. P.S that mine train was just as beautiful as it looks.

Abyss, the largest investment in the history of the park, opened in the days before the castle burnt down. The castle being an unpopular attraction of little to no value ('Mr Shaw said the structure had been there since Adventure World opened 31 years ago and could not put a value on it.') It was dead weight in a park run by a CEO ready to spend and expand, of which an old castle sitting on centre-park prime real estate was off brand. See this post Quoted By @Iwerks for more context. I feel like it'd be at least a little naive not to be at all suspicious of the incident, given they received their insurance claim as well as attempting to sue the fireworks company for $1 million, a lot more than its actual value, which id argue was close to nil.

Abyss is terribly rough. I'm talking arrow looper with square wheels rough. I have about a ride a visit and even thats too much, it just hurts.

Thanks All for your helpful responses. I did have the option to go a week later, but opted against it when I saw VRTP maintenance period starts on the 3rd. Had I been able to get longer off walk, I'd definitely have liked to go to Dreamworld. Good to hear the parks are quiet this time of the year!

Hi all, just after some advice for my upcoming gold coast trip. As I'm only there for 4 days, I'm looking at getting a 3 park 3 day village pass. Dreamworld, to me, seems like a bit of a waste of a day with GD down and my only real interest being ST. ideally I'd obviously stay a bit longer, but work commitments unfortunately hindered my ability to do so. This is My first time on the Gold Coast as an adult, so any tips or advice you guys can give me (where to eat, rides to hit first etc.) will be greatly appreciated. The trip in Question is occuring 30 Jan - 2 Feb.

Could it have anything to do with SE's block zones? Given its a bit older and shorter a ride, there could only be 3 - load/unload (lets call this A), preshow (B) and the high speed section (C). A train would have to enter Block zone A out of block zone C before another train could enter C from B and so forth - hence the waiting period at launch track until the train ahead reaches load/unload. As far as i can tell from POV's, theres no mid course break run, nor is there brakes in the preshow, so i do think that math adds up.

Interesting...The only ride i can realistically see being moved is the drop tower? Very low ridership and just kind of sits there not doing much, could be better suited in the middle of the park if they finally decide to level the old castle instead of keeping it hidden behind scrub. Would also free up leftover turbo mountain space for future development. Seems likely. If you look at aerial photographs, the path up the hill is obviously designed with an extra slide in mind. However, the design of Kraken doesn't leave much room for said slide - hopping off you'd be quite a distance from anything. It would also appear krakens exit pool was only deisgned for the one slide.

All this deliberation and conjecture about where the tops coaster went...only for it to turn up scrapped in someones backyard. But where did it come from? The image above was taken at the (very much defunct) Atlantis marine park circa 1985. Did this coaster go on to be the dragon at Tops? And if not, does anyone know where it did go?

Able to provide any details about this? First I've heard of it and there isn't any media coverage of it.
