  1. Damn...Didn't even realise they were adding another one! The Public transport is so good in Singapore that you can just about get anywhere. In saying that, if you have kids, it would be very convenient to just stay at mandai.
  2. We went recently. USS was spectacularly busy, but we still felt we got it all done quite easily in a day. The Bird Park and River Wonders are both half day ventures. The zoo you can stretch out to a whole day if you really wanted to, and the night safari is self explanatory. Both Waterparks are pretty shit and a half day each at most. Honestly, there is so much to do in Singapore. Amazing place.
  3. Would be silly (too risky) to announce anything before a DA is approved, manufacturer booked and construction tendered. Look at the Scooby do shaped egg On MW's face. Been waiting on Next Gen for waaaayyyy too long now.
  4. Pretty rare these parks get a DA through to the keeper without someone on here coming across it...or any park in australia really.
  5. "Largest view obscuring black fence around a log flume in the southern hemisphere" 😳
  6. You can't reasonably have a grievance against the parks reducing their hours over Winter. It's a common sense business move. It Must just be because of the lack of competition making WnW stay open over Winter - similar to Maccas being 24 Hours but Hj's not. They cant be making money over there. All that being said, I'd rather be, as a consumer, at the 'experience is good and I feel Valued for 90 Minutes less' Place than the 'It's open longer, circa 40% of the rides are down at a given time, we wait in line more and get treated considerably worse' one. Lesser of two evils, but I'd rather of less of the good than more of the shit.
  7. Actively Shitting on guest experience and dramatically overspending on copy and paste rides. That's burning both ends of the stick Imo. So yes.
  8. Common Polin Slide issue. Never seems to be enough water pressure. Polin slides age like milk and are built of straw (https://www.cockburnarc.com.au/Play/Waterslides) Hopefully parks will give up cheaping out by going with them.
  9. I was thinking yesterday that this is the smartest thing they could do. Bounty's was like our wipeout. This will market very well over here.
  10. It's almost as If they've just done the minimum requirement so as to not piss off whoever licensed them the IP. It's aesthetically pleasing and looks well done regarding the IP applications, then just screw you to guest experience. Someone mentioned the other day seeing village execs line cut opening morning. The arrogance to do that in front of paying guests, not to mention the stupidity of not having those things done behind closed doors (every park ever seems to let employees have rides before these things open) is unfortunately completely in character for the Current VRTP. Maybe the $100m figure is a total investment between Flash, Oz and SDSC, and they've tried to white lie their way into a headline? I'd hate to see how the colours in the area will hold up over the years in that harsh sun as the management decide gold-plate their office chairs instead of repainting. I really hope this tips the scales back in DW favour.
  11. Beat me to it. Had the exact same thought today, and was going to ask if this is normal. Hopefully they're just running maintenance on it now to have both sides up and ready for the Holidays.
  12. The odd 5 Minute dispatch due to guests piss farting around and not listening is Fine. There were periods were the train would sit empty for near on a minute, with no one getting off or on, while ops people were having a quick yarn about one thing or another. I don't blame those people specifically. Such low (comparitive to DW) work standards being deemed acceptable are a failure of management, not to mention the obvious lack of staff allocated to the rides.
  13. WWF has been bang on. Absolute crock of shit. Spoke to various members over the parks in the last couple of days, inclusive WnW. They are very aware of the amount of school groups arriving over the next two weeks. They wouldn't set up big marquees and label them with individual school names on a whim and a prayer. It's gross what they're doing and getting away with as a business. The fact that the park is ultimately failing to deliver an advertised product and then blatantly lying to the high-paying customers they've ripped off is terrible. Second train is good when you don't have a crew stacking every second train for 2+ minutes.
  14. We dropped into MW yesterday and today. SE was running one train at 3pm this afternoon, with a listed wait time of 30 Minutes. Low and behold, after 80ish minutes standing around, we got on. Such a shame that the ride ops only seemed to give a shit about how quickly things moved after the the line was shut, presumably to get home on time. Rivals was even worse yesterday. We bit the bullet and joined the 90 Minute line at 1215 yesterday, only to not be on until about 3. Staff seemed lethargic, uncaring, like they didn't want to be there, and were above all else slow. There also clearly was not enough of them to run things efficiently. 5 (and that's me being nice) Minute dispatches on your flagship attraction on any given day is deplorable, let alone with SE down and GL being as unreliable as it is. I will concede I Did not ride today so there could have been a better crew on. It's a stark contrast to how we saw things at DW. As much as lines were long, the place was organised, staff were working hard, friendly and actually looked like they cared about visitors and wanted to be there. The contempt that the Village seem to be treating the consumer with is disgusting - the fact that in an off peak time, I could only get on 4 things in a whole day is deplorable. The arrogance to do things like have a listed SE wait time on the app of 30 minutes yet close the line at 4pm is quite shocking (what is up with these clearly under-representing wait times?). I knew from on here Village were bad, but man the contrast between the places is insane. I really hope things turn around and trend Upward at DW with JR. They clearly care about and have a passion for visitors and their experiences at the park, where Village don't.
  15. Anyone know what is happening with SE? Currently on holiday over here and the website says it's down. Want to try ascertain some sort of an ETA for reopening so we can go on that day,
  16. Anyone reckon this will be at least soft opened by early December? Booked a trip over naively thinking this an WOO would be open.
  17. Thats annoying, was hoping it'd at least soft open in time for my October trip. Absolutely no clue how they're going to fit all this in there is SFA space.
  18. Please just add the context or make a statement instead of annoyingly beating around the bush.
  19. Which has led to significant fatigue in the wheel bogies...I hope to be wrong but i think this may be a substantial closure with a re-design/re-engineer component.
  20. From a bit of googling, a family boomerang in 2020 cost 4.5 Million AUD, and they got two of them. I recall Mark Shaw years ago saying on here that when you bring a coaster to Australia you essentially double it's cost due to our labour/material prices etc. I cant find any information about the SFC cost but i think it'd be fair to assume the 3 of them would cost somewhere around 25-30 Million AUD, although i reckon I'm going unders there. The Figure they spat out probably included the cost of AA demolition as well because you know big number good. When you consider Taipan cost 32 Million, it's a pretty good deal to cop 3 Coasters and a whole new themed area for only 50.
  21. Indicative of a terrible work culture. I've come across many a shitty customer service workplace in my time, including places like Bounce. Some figure out their culture, making you feel supported, valued and leave you with a desire to come back irrespective of the crap you have to deal with. Others stink and make you want to quit. Minimum wage hospitality/service is always going to have seasonal recruitment drives for casuals (school holidays etc). Thats common sense. If they cant open rides during Winter, which they have before, because of a lack of staff, thats more of an indictment on the state of their workplace culture then any lack of wage or amount of crap they cop from guests.
  22. I do believe the rocking launch with the spike will be a better ride experience. The nerfed comment just means it's less powerful. Accelerators kick you up the arse but are generally one trick ponies.
  23. The Launch is so nerfed. Spike will be sick though.
  24. Regarding those unopened coasters, from what i can gather, dynamic attractions went way over budget building them (and mission ferrari at Ferrari world) which led them into bankruptcy. It also doesn't help that Disney cancelled the ip that Genting wanted to use for them requiring a complete retheme. Im sure there'll be some sort of legal proceedings going on behind closed doors, and no one is going to want to come in and finish the project until thats finalised, especially without access to Dynamic's unique product patents.
  25. I agree that area deserves something better than a Surfrider - or an Intamin twin hammer - but making the best out of a bad situation would be, imo, throwing in the towel with Doomsday and putting the Surfrider there because: a) You need an attraction semi reliably running in your (debatably) most well themed area to justify its build cost. b) It gives people a reason to go down that end of the park (since Scooby has gone down) other than solely as a thoroughfare to WWF, decongesting the front of the park (and feel free to correct me if i'm wrong but i think there's a whole 'the further you walk, the longer you stay, the more you spend' thing Disney believe in). If the Flash was a long planned installation then yes, the helix is a better place to put it, but given the context of both Scooby and Doomsday's non operation, and as purely a filler, I believe that area of the park would be much better for the 'new' installation.
